[MOC] The Corellian Eclipse - Armoured YT-1300
Kit Bricksto replied to Kit Bricksto's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Thanks man! That isn't a hammer, it's actually one of Umbridge's perfum bottles from the Order of the Phoenix Hogwarts Castle set. ;) I'll try and take a picture of the engine access but it's rather tricky to get in there with the camera. As for the cockpit, there isn't really that much more to see than what is visible in the top view of the whole interior. Okay, I figured that were the sets you meant. ;) So you're actually one of the lucky few to get your hands on one of the first UCS Falcons? -
[MOC] The Corellian Eclipse - Armoured YT-1300

Thanks Kodan! I really appreciate your feedback! There actually is something like the security locker you suggested in the airlock that doesn't have the boarding ramp, well, it's more of a gun rack than anything else.. I should have made sure to include that in one of the pictures.. ;) -
[MOC] The Corellian Eclipse - Armoured YT-1300
Kit Bricksto replied to Kit Bricksto's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Thanks! The book's really worth it. I used it a lot when building my Falcon too and I will continue using it for reference once I continue building it some day.. :D I looked up those set-numbers and they both appear to be the 2016 Millennium Falcon. Is that correct? I wasn't aware of any re-release of the set with a different set-number. Thank you! :) Yeah, that was basically the idea. I wanted it to look like the Republic Frigates from the Clone Wars while still keeping enough of the classic YT-1300 design. -
[MOC] The Corellian Eclipse - Armoured YT-1300
Kit Bricksto replied to Kit Bricksto's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Thanks guys! There actually is a small access point to the engines underneath the engine cover but as the number of pictures on Rebrick is very restricted I decided not to include a picture of it, as it is incredibly hard to get the camera in there. I'll try and post a picture here for you guys though! Thanks man, I'm really honored you consider me one of your favorite builders! You mean the exterior should be smoother? I agree, however, that is a really hard thing to pull of at this scale without having to deal with the jagged edges tiles will have on wedge plates. It would probably not have shown so much if there was more greebling on the hull but I didn't want the ship to look to much like our favorite hunk of junk. ;) The public reception of this build has already been a bit like winning something. Of course I'd love win something but I wouldn't be too sad if someone like you, who'd have earned it, wins instead! :) -
Okay, then it's probably just the camera angle that made the back look a bit squashed. That's something you can check much better irl. That's basically what I did with the mandibles on my Falcon and they look to be at a similar scale, maybe yours is even a bit smaller. Looking forward to what you'll be doing with the interior!

[SoNE Ep. XVI] [Cat. A] LT 995 Transport Cruiser
Kit Bricksto replied to Gubi0222's topic in Nar Eurbrikka Archive
Wow, the interior detail here is amazing! Especially that cockpit is just wonderfull. It really fits the gritty style of the Star Wars Universe. I also like the way the boarding ramp comes out between those two mandible-kind-of things and the overall shape of the ship looks like something from Star Wars, too. Only nitpick is that the transitions of the ships angles could be a bit smoother and the hull could maybe have done with a few more tiles. But that's really just nitpicking. Overall this is a great build! -
Hi everyone! As some of you might have seen on Flickr or Rebrick, I am participating in the Freighter Wars-Contest on Rebrick. For this I created the Corellian Senator's ship and gave it the name Corellian Eclipse. Don't ask me how that name makes any sense, it just sounded cool! :P After all, does Millennium Falcon really make sense? :D I was inspired to build this by the book The Millennium Falcon Owner's Workshop Manual: Star Wars (Haynes Manuals) and various ideas I found on the allmighty internet. I'd also like to thank my buddy Inthert for allowing me to use some elements of his Millennium Falcon and credit goes to him for the visualisation of the models interior rooms. Now, on to the build itself! As the title suggests the Corellian Eclipse is basically the armoured variant of the YT-1300 with a more enclosed central cockpit, more conventional (and reliable) hyperdrive engines and a much more sealed hull. This, in my eyes, was the perfect basis for a luxury spaceship, so instead of the usual freighter-interior, I equipped the ship with a much more elegant and luxurios interior, worthy of a Republic Senator. And to show it's status of diplomatic immunity in the galaxy I added some red markings, ever so slightly reminiscent of the Senate's seal. I think the pictures can speak for themselves from here on. If you have any questions though, feel free to ask them in the comments section and I'll be sure to come back to you! I'd love to hear what you think of the model and the overall idea of the ship itself. Constructive criticism is of course also very welcome! Cheers, Kit

[MOC] YT-2001 - S 04 Light Freighter "Night Shadow"
Kit Bricksto replied to FTG Prime's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Hi FTG, I saw that you added me to your pictures on Flickr, sorry for not responding over there! I had also noticed your build on Rebrick and I really liked it. The cockpit is another interesting approach to the whole thing and I really like the little interior you created there. I'm not too sure most crews would fancy the single docking ring at the back though, as it makes a quick getaway a rather hot experience.. :D also it would leave some pretty nasty scorching on any ship the Night Shadow docks to. :P (Sorry, I'm being really mean competition here..:D) The only thing I would have liked to see is some more interior detail. I know, that's asking a lot considering this is a digital build with some complicated angles and a complex frame but that's always what makes a spaceship perfect to me. I really like the overall appearance of the ship though. It just looks very finished and smooth and the flat profile makes for an interesting side view, too. Wishing you the best of luck in to contest (at least in the run for second place.. :P) No, seriously, hope the judges like your model just as much as I do! :) Cheers, Kit EDIT: Oh and there is no such thing as crappy sketches! As long as they help you visualize your ideas they have served their purpose and a sketch is nothing more than that! I am glad you included a picture of them, they really show your thought process without a single written word neccessary.- 8 replies

Hi Drongo, I really enjoy these Falcon-Mods/MOCs as I have been building and rebuilding my own Falcon for about two years now and am considering starting again, once again. :D I think the scale you are going for is a good choice as it fits a good amount of detail and goes very well with the canopy pieces. Speaking of proportions, I think your mandibles might just end up being too thick in proportion to the rest of the model. I think I'd try making the frame only two technic bricks wide and beef it up just a little bit further with the plates on both the top and bottom. Also, make sure that your model is as close to a circle now while you still can. The back half looks like it might be a bit squashed, although it's really hard to tell from the angles you posted so far. I wish you the best of luck with this project and hope you'll keep us posted on your progress! But most importantly: enjoy the journey to your own Falcon! Because like Han Solo, you will always be tinkering with it and it'll never be quite finished.. ;)

Thanks! :) A friend of mine on Rogue Bricks requested a comparison pic with the Lego AT-AT but since I don't have that set I thought I'd compare it to one of Lego's Snowspeeder sets instead. I thought it might interest you guys too, so here's the picture:

Thanks Ellis, glad you like it! Thank you for your confidence! I usually don't mind making breakdowns or even LDD files for my models but this one is really flimsy. I might reengineer the structure of the build sometime and then I will definitely post some instructions! Good to know that someone is interested though, I'll keep that in mind.

Hi everyone! I built this model earlier this year as part of one of my entries to the IDS-MOC Olympics but I never came around to post detailed shots of the Snowspeeder itself. Up until now! I tried to keep it as close to minifigure-scale as possible without loosing too much detail and the ability to fit two figures into the cockpit. I am quite happy with how it turned out but of course there is still room for improvement. If you have any suggestions on how to improve it, I'd love to hear your ideas in the comments! :)

What kind of question is this? :P Of course you can't stop now! :D I really like your approach to this ship using SNOT for the hull. I don't think I've seen anything like it so far.. Some aspects in your model make me want to reconsider some of the choices I made with my own Falcon.. I'm looking forward to seeing more updates in this thread!

That's a cool little build. I really like the engines and the functional boarding ramp. The picture with the second figure coming out of the hold is just so rediculous, really makes you realize how off the microfighters are.. :D Great job on this build! :)

Hi Darth, I think I've said this before but I'll say it again; I really like your building style. It's the perfect blend of smooth, complicated techniques and the style of TLG's sets. Your Y-Wing is excellent proof of that. You take elements from sets (why fix what isn't broken) and integrate them in a very clever way. Your Y-Wing really makes me want to try and build one too. ;) The A-Wing is a great model too. I have experimented with brick built engines similar to yours myself and I must say that your technique is simpler and in a way much more effective than what I had come up with. Great work on that, as usual. ;) This seems to be the case with everyone trying to build a U-Wing.. Yours is already a great model but I can only say that the larger you build them the harder it gets to make those wings functional. I have tried and more or less given up on building a more or less minifig-scale U-Wing and I wish you the best of luck for when you decide to start building a larger one. :D

Haha I see. Yes, the scene does look a bit cramped but the contest this was built for had a size-limit of 32x32 studs.. ;)
-
Thank you very much! :) I'm afraid I'm not quite sure what you mean by "it doesn't look really believable" Do you mean that you can't imagine anything like this happening in the Star Wars universe?

Hi everyone! This is my entry to the third round of the MOC-Olympics over at IDS. The task was to show the Empire and the Rebels fight over the orange cargo boxes from Rogue One and explain what they contain. After the A-Wing fighters of 'Phoenix-Squadron' had destroyed the Imperial escort and disabled the transport shuttle, Captain Syndulla's freighter 'The Ghost' took over the main mission. The Imperial shuttle was loaded with food supplies for the garrison on Ryloth. The special forces team on board the 'Ghost' was tasked with the retrieval of the cargo containers before they got lost in the infinity of space. But as they disembarked from the cargo hold and started retrieving the containers, stormtroopers with oxygen tanks on their backs rose from the wreckage. Was this all a trap? It was important for the rebels not to panic, the mission was their top priority. The people of Ryloth would starve if they abandoned their mission at the first sign of trouble.. I hope you like the build. Let me know what you think in the comments!

Thanks guys! Glad you like it! :) The Ewoks have not evolved yet, this plan(e)t is still in it's early stages of evolution.. :P No, seriously, I just didn't have any Ewok figures and there wasn't enough time to buy any. ;)

I really like the techniques you used on this model! The way the hull plates attach is very clever, makes accessing the interior a lot easier and connecting the mechanism for the landing gears with the wings folding down is just fantastic. I love how smooth everything folds into place without any fiddling around on the underside of the ship. Great work on this!

Hi everyone! The annual Star Wars contest on Imperium der Steine is on once again and for the second round the task was to build a planet from the Star Wars universe. I chose to build Endor but I wanted my build to be slightly different, to have a twist. I came up with the idea to have a scene from Endor in a flowerpot as a kind of "Grow your own Planet" kit and this is what I came up with. Now it's up to the judges to decide whether they like it but I'd also love to hear what you guys think! Constructive criticism is always welcome! :)

I had to look at those photos for quite a while to be sure that this is a real life model. The lighting is so incredibly good (as is of course the model) that it almost looks unreal, like a rendering. I really like how you created such smooth edges all over the model and the attention to detail is just stunning. This really is a worthy way of celebrating the 40 year anniversary of Star Wars! Only thing it's missing is a tiny Tantive IV now! :D

Hi Ellis, I don't actually think that those new engines are too large. In fact they look pretty spot on scalewise. Take this image as an example: Are you planning to actually build this with real bricks? I am just wondering whether those wings will hold up with that little support at the hinge point.. I don't really have any usefull suggestions on how to improve it though. I've been pondering on that area myself.. Keep on building! I'm looking forward to see where this is going. :) Cheers, Kit Bricksto

Hey That Orange Thing, while what you suggest here may hold some truth (look at the Falcon as a great example of that phenomenon) I think a significant part of your problem is that your model is way smaller than minifig scale (still looking good though, don't get me wrong there!) According to Wookieepedia the U-Wing is 24.something meters long, which translates roughly into 75 studs in minifig scale. This means that the official set is about 15 studs short. As your model is even shorter it's only natural that you will have problems getting minifigs to fit inside as they should. Although even in minifig scale the figures will not fit inside as well as actual humans due to their inability to squeeze in and their slightly off proportions. Cheers for the photo, that's a great reference! I've been searching all over the internet for proper images of the U-Wing but found mostly concept art or pictures of toys..

[MOC] Alliance dreadnaught cruiser Stolen Gold
Kit Bricksto replied to ProvenceTristram's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Hey this is really cool! There are very few good models of these ships and I haven't seen one that fits minifigs yet. I really like the attention to detail in the rear half of the ship and that big ship part under the nose is very nicely used too. I feel like the front area is a bit too blocky and clean though. The sides should be slanted a lot more and that also affects the shape of the front slope that should not be quite this square I think.. Other than that it's a cool model though and the interior detail is much appreciated. Is that one of those tiny walkers from the second Thrawn book in the last room? Nice!
