  1. Hi everyone! After DarthTwoShedsJackson postet his wonderful A-Wing Starfighter a few weeks ago, I felt the need to build my own. As you will see my design is heavily inspired by his build but I tried adding my own touch to the model. I started of with a great piece of concept art of an A-Wing crashed on Jakku (probably) that I really liked. It was quite close to the original McQuarrie design like the A-Wings from Star Wars Rebels. Thanks to Inthert for finding the picture for me, you can find it HERE. So, without further ado, let's look at some pictures and I'll tell you some more about the specifics of the model: I tried making this model as smooth and studless as possible as it really adds to the feeling of the A-Wing in my opinion. And those of you that know my work know that I really don't mind having visible studs. ;) Especially back here the influence of DarthTwoShedsJackson becomes obvious. The engines I more or less stole from his model (hope you don't mind, Darth ;) ) but I changed the back of the cockpit as I wanted to add some more detail and make it a bit less bulky. You might notice that my model is one stud wider in the middle than most Lego A-Wings. I felt that represented the proportions more accurately and also made centering the forward landing gear a lot easier. And that is the thing I really don't like on my version yet. The landing strut is as bad as TLG's are and I will definitly go back and fix that! And finally, every ship needs a pilot! And I don't like using a faceless, characterless Rebel pilot for my models. That's why I put together this character. She doesn't have a name yet but the first fighter she flew was my T-70 X-Wing a few months ago and I am planning on using her for more of my models. I have a rough backstory for her in the back of my head and I might get around to writing it down properly and maybe even build something nice to go with it. Anyway, I hope you like my A-Wing Starfighter and if you do (or don't) please leave a comment below. I love hearing your opinion on my work and even if you don't like it, constructive criticism is just as good as praise! :)
  2. Glad to see that you settled in so quickly here at Eurobricks! :) As I said many times before, I really love your X-Wing design and it is my favorite one out there to date. Yes, I even think it's better than Psiaki's and Legohaulic's which are incredible, too. I think, I'll build a copy of it or something inspired by it some day too but there are so many other things I want to build before that.. :D
  3. Oh, wow, I didn't expect that! I'm very excited to see it then! :) You enjoy your holiday first though. ;)
  4. I wonder what he is standing on though.. I really like the simplicity of the design, it just fits the Empire very well. Most people tend to overdo it with colours or excessive greebles, which in my opinion is missing the point of Imperial architecture. I assume there is no interior to the base? There'd be enough room under that landing platform for something cool.
  5. Hey vstarvan, How's the project going on? I really liked the first modules you showed us but there have not been any updates in a long time.. I'd love to hear about your Ghost again and see what you have achieved in the last months! :)
  6. Hm I'm a bit conflicted about this one.. I like the colour scheme you chose and I don`t mind that it's from Rebels (the ships from the show are pretty cool and the stories are getting more interesting). However, I think that the update here wasn't neccessary. There is nothing wrong with a few studs and I think the SNOTed bricks in the middle look a bit off. It takes away from the pointy front of the original in my opinion. But then, I really like the A-Wing sets and I really liked that your first version looked so much like them but with some nice improvements. So maybe I'm a bit biased in that point.. Still, both versions are very nice A-Wings and have inspired me to try and build my own! :)
  7. Hi everyone! I created this little landspeeder for the first round of the MOC-Olympics over at Imperium der Steine. There isn't really that much to it as it is so small. Using the yellow skinned Luke wasn't my first choice but I am actually glad that I couldn't find the newer version. The landspeeder reminds me of the original 1999 set much more with the yellow figure. (I wouldn't mind finding the other minifig now though.. "You can come out now, Luke! The pictures are taken, you're safe!" ) Anyway, while I go and look for that minifig you can have a look at the landspeeder and please feel free to leave a comment! :)
  8. I like where this is going.. Keep up the great work! :)
  9. Cheers, you're actually one of the first people to say so.. :D I didn't exactly mean that. I think that it looks a bit strange having the edges of the wedges (rhyme wasn't intented :D) that tiny bit higher than the tiles on top. It doesn't matter that much in the back but right at the brim of the nose it doesn't look very good. I know how hard it is to get that right as I struggled with it for a long time on my T-70. You might like to look at this guys fantastic T-65 here: He even has some instructions in his photostream and his design is quite similar to yours. Keep building and trying things, you'll get there eventually! :)
  10. This is looking very good so far. I am very happy to see that X-Wings are growing more popular again and more people are building their own versions. I'll try and follow along your build and give some advice whenever I can. :) I think the problem atlas mentioned can be solved another way. agree that the whole nose section looks a bit wide. If you could move the wedges on the sides down by half a plate or a whole one without creating any problems with the parts underneath, I think that might help a lot.
  11. Really like your solution for the front grill on the speeder! Only problem I see is that it isn't really a connection and only held together by friction. Totally works for a display piece like this though. And I agree that Rey was a great character. ;) I hope we'll see some interesting background story for her in Episode IIX.
  12. This looks incredible! I think it might be a darker grey but as far as the teaser goes it really is hard to tell. Yours looks great in the lighter grey though and certainly fits very well with your other Imperial vehicles! :)
  13. I really love the setup on this. I'm afraid that I am not all that familiar with the older DW stories and characters but the feeling of the MOC definitly feels right. ;) As I said what I like most is the way this is set up. The hexagonal shapes of the different elements are a nice nod to the shapes inside the TARDIS and the change of height inbetween the areas makes it a lot more visually appealing. P.S.: I also had a look at your Flickr stream. There's some really cool stuff there, too! :)
  14. Thanks a million! I completly understand what you mean. I prefer to start building something myself first too before I start looking at other MOCs as I don't want to simply copy things. Having a really hard time with that on a Slave I I am currently working on. I'm sorry, I didn't think of the Custom Minifigs Topic at all! I think I'll add some more pictures of the Quinjet though, as it is obviously so popular. Could you change the title of this topic to just "Marvel's Agents of SHIELD" so that I can post all my future builds to go with the series here? That'd be great! :) Also, thank you, glad you like the Quinjet!
  15. I'd suggest sourcing the parts you need through BrickLink as PaB is quite expensive and they don't have all the parts, at least not in Germany (I checked ) The stickers on the wing tips are from the first Quinjet set. I build all of my models (up to a certain size at least) in LDD so that I have a digital copy of them when I want to take them apart again. These files are no additional workload and therefore I don't mind sharing them with others. I always appreciate it when other builders share their work for free and as I'd like others to continue being that generous I'd be stupid to be less friendly in return. The Quinjet took me one or two weeks I think but a lot of that time was waiting for BrickLink orders and figuring out the cockpit. The figures took me one evening.
  16. Thanks! Yes, Mack is still a WIP. His head just isn't right and the Torso is rather boring.. Well , the Quinjet is grey because they actually are grey in the films and series. They are after all military vehicles . Indeed, there is. An LDD-file has already been uploaded to Imperium der Steine. Here it is: Quinjet.lxf I don't really like the spikey hair for Fitz. Someone on Flickr suggested the tossled hair in dark tan. I think I will go with that. I also considered the Sperman hair for Ward but the curles don't really fit him. Still, thanks for the suggestions! :)
  17. Hi everyone! About a year ago I built a Quinjet from the Avengers and the Agents of SHIELD tv-series and some figures to go with it. I'll put a picture of the Quinjet in here too but the minifigures should be the main topic of discussion. :) The figures are from season 3 of Agents of SHIELD, so a SPOILER-alert might be in order for those of you who don't want to know anything about the series before you watch it. You have been warned! From left to right: Gemma Simmons, Leopold Fitz, Melinda May, Phil Coulson, Skye/Daisy/Quake, Bobby Morse/Mockingbird, Lance Hunter and Alphonso "Mack" Mackenzie. And to oppose them: From left to right: Grant Ward, Gideon Malick and Werner von Strucker. As these are kitbash figures made only from the parts I had on hand they are far from perfect. If you have any ideas on how to improve any of them please leave a suggestion in the comments! :) Hope you like them!
  18. Niecely done! I love the sculpting on his torso and his 'skirt'. Before I read the description I thought this might be Rory from Doctor Who as the Centurian. :D It would work as that too. I'd love to see a Doctor at this scale from you. ;)
  19. I agree, this is really good! I love the attention to detail, the cockpit in particular. One tiny detail I noticed that can be easily changed is the grill on the back between the engines. I'd turn that brick around to correct the orientation of the grill. You also might want to change the light on the front. It might be accurate shapewise but yours is the same size as the cockpit which just doesn't look quite right. Other than that this is a sweet little model though. :)
  20. What works well for these military colours is old dark grey. It is slightly greenish but not as intense as the colours you suggested. Ralph Savelsberg uses it quite a lot on his military builds and it is the most realistic colour match I have seen so far.
  21. Hi Duq, I'd imagine that the way you did the lighting is perfectly alright as it looks quite natural. But with the minimal light of your dawn-background comes the disadvantage of having dark areas which is unfortunate for presenting your model but looks realistic to me. You might want to consider making two pictures. One like this capturing the athmosphere and another one with brighter lighting to show all the details otherwise hidden in shadow.
  22. I know, the set is grey anyway. ;) That's what I meant, it still looks great in Lego, just pointed out that it's not in scale. But then I am absolutely in no position to criticize scale as my own Falcon isn't in scale either. I think there is nothing wrong with mixing scales, that's the case with minifigures and their accessories too, but thinking about it is something I find interesting. Therefore, this was not meant as criticism but as an analysis. :)
  23. This looks really cool! There are still some flaws like the very steep hills and the Falcon being the only think completly in scale with figures but hey, it's LEGO and it does look cool! The only thing that really bugs me are those X-Wings. I just don't like the set very much (also the blue one should be grey not white ) but that's just me. They don't diminish the overall appeal!
  24. Glad you like it. Make sure to tag me if you post pictures of your version. I'd love to see it. :) Also, I will hopefully complete the Falcon soon. I wasn't really that obsessed with them either and I still don't excessively love the T-65 fighters from the OT but the new ones just appeal to me. Oh and thanks for your nice comment. Always nice to hear that someone who isn't too obsessed likes something purely as a build! :)
  25. Absolutely no problem, you didn't misunderstand me language-wise, I just wasn't clear enough about what I meant. ;) I'd love to see the interior!
