75038 and 75135 don't have landing gear but it can be easily added. I've added it to a few of my custom color Interceptors

[MOD] Jabba's Sail Barge 75020/6210 The Best of Both Worlds
carnage717 replied to carnage717's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Yeah I plan on it, I'm in the process of bricklinking the parts for it. I do agree it looks so much better. -
When I was looking for a Sail Barge to buy I had a really hard time deciding which one I wanted. I preferred the look of the 6210 set but I like the mini figures more in the 75020 set, but I absolutely hate the front end of it. So I ended up buying the 75020 set with the intent on making it look like the 6210. At first it was just going to be replacing the front section with bow pieces used in 6210 but when i came to covering the top of it I had to redo the entire deck because the piece covering the top doesn't come dark tan. So with that I replaced all the old dark tan pieces with tan. It allowed me to lengthen the over all deck section by 8 studs and widen it by two studs.. I also filled in a few gaps around the sail barge such as between the deck plate and drop down panels.. I figured why stop there. I decided to move a few pieces around inside on the panels to make them bulge out more making it wider at the top and not so skinny. To fill in those gaps I added some 1x6 and 1x8 plates in tan to the panels on each door so when they are closed it looks like part of the flooring. I replaced those horrible plastic sails with one's from 6210 and moved the back sail back farther to give it more clearance from the first sail. I created a new railing system along the deck plate, replaced the gray posts where the window open up to a brown color and finished off the bottom with some 2x4 brown tiles to hide the hinges on the bottom. And finally I added a few detail tiles to the wing parts to make it look similar to the real sail barge. The interior remains completely untouched as I feel like this is the better interior of the two sets. So now I feel like i have the perfect Sail Barge without having two in my collection. Overall it ended up costing me an extra $12 to make this and never even opened up bag 3 from the 75020 set. The one thing I would like to do in the future is start adding tiles to the side cover up all the studs and give it a smoother look. Added tan bricks to widen the top part of barge I just moved the black piece up to make it stop farther out

Custom 7661 Hyperdrive Ring w/ 75135 Interceptor combination
carnage717 replied to carnage717's topic in LEGO Star Wars
That sticker photo paper I printed these on is pretty good. It doesnt smudge when handled and takes ink pretty good with the exception of black ink, when you print large sections of black on the paper it doesn't come out to good. I think i has more to do with the quality of the ink than the paper though. As far as getting die cut easy to take off stickers there is just now way to do it for personal use. For me I don't mind a little extra cutting if it means I can create my own sticker from scratch or even a scan. For example I can create my own custom mini figure stickers from scratch or re print a sticker sheet from set I have bought (I normally scan every sticker sheet for every set I have ever bought before applying it to my lego creation) -

I took the sticker sheet from the 75135 set, scanned it and dropped it into photoshop. I changed all the maroon to what ever color I'm using for wings and then cleaned up every sticker on the sheet, making the lines crisper and more defined. Then I just print them out on glossy photo paper and cut them out to fit. It took me quite awhile on the first one cleaning the stickers up after that I just have to change the color palate to suit my needs. -
Custom 7661 Hyperdrive Ring w/ 75135 Interceptor combination

I mostly have problems with the wings on the original interceptor, theres just not much holding the wings together. -
I've always loved the Hyper-drive Ring but I could not stand the interceptor that came with it. It was flimsy and broke at the drop of the hat. Since I have been making new interceptor such as the Vader and Mace Windu Interceptor I figured I might as as well go ahead and retire the flimsy Interceptor back to its bag and replace with a custom 75135 Interceptor. If you have seen my other interceptors I fixed the cockpit, front lower area to cover up the technic holes. filled in the back to use up some of the empty space and redid the bottom of the interceptor filling in the empty spaces there and removing the spring missiles. I've also added a new fix to the 75135 and that's removing the 1x8 colored tile on top with the sticker on it and replacing it with 1x4 tile of the same color and then adding a 1/4 plate on the lower wing to make it look similar to the 75038 Interceptor. I also plan on going back and changing all my interceptor with this fix. For this one I had to a little bit further on the bottom, adding the Technic pieces needed for the Interceptor to dock with the hyper-drive ring. As always I added some custom sticker to the wing to give it a little more detail and I also am working on a custom R4-G9 Astromech to fit in astromech slot (which was also lowered). I have the sticker/decal set done for R4-G9, I'm just waiting on some parts from Bricklink. Enjoy the pics.

Custom Mace Windu Jedi Intereptor Made from 75135
carnage717 replied to carnage717's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Here is everything I used for the cockpit. The first thing you need to do is pull the long pin that goes through the middle of the cockpit. once its removed you can pull the whole assembly i posed earlier out along the 1x2 rounded slopes, keep those as you can reuse them on the back of the seat to finish it off. Take a 1x2 technic with hole or cross in and slide it down the assembly hole and push the pin back into positions. As seen here Next you can either fill in the hole with 1x2 plate or leave it, its going to get covered up so I just leave it empty. Add your 2x4 plate to the front and whatever tile you want to use for side controls and the 1x2 plate on the back of the seat. Nexe add your hinged piece, whatever you want to use for controls and can use those 1x2 rounded tiles to finish off the back seating area if you choose too. Third add your control panel tile to the hinged part and finally add your 1x2 sloped pieces to finish it off. If you really want to something else to finish it off you can add a 1x3 wedge plate (left and right) underneath the side control panels and controls. and while you have the cockpit torn apart if you want to fix the front of the cockpit to cover up those annoying technic holes , here is a something I did. pull out the 1x2 reverse bracket, and add a 2x4 reverse bracket. put your 2x2 black plate back on top of that along with the front windscreen assembly. Then you can add some bits and pieces to finish of the front how ever you like, anything is better than those technic holes showing. -
I started out with 3 set of 75137 and ended up buying a few new pieces specifically the 4 triangle pieces on top and a few other small pieces. I combined all 3 together trying to come up with symmetrical patter all the way around so it doesn't look like it was just thrown together with whatever bits and pieces I could find. For the lower sections I really didnt want to just leave them plain so I made 3 terminals where ugnaughts can check on the operations going on below the deck. I added the upper stair case as well as this will be part of the continuance of this MOC. I plan on adding an upper walkway section which will also attach to a crane I plan on making as well. As far as the lowering mechanism, it only goes down at this point and will eventually be fixed so that the crane will actually pull it back into original position and then be locked in place once it returns to the top. I'm also in the process of gathering all the figures to recreate the scene. Lobot is on its way and i already have 4 ugnaughts, as well as the figures that came with the set as well as the storm troopers. Right now i'm missing suitable princess leia and a lando figure, so I'm probably going to make custom minifigs for both of those characters. The only thing Im having a problem with trying to figure out how to do C-3p0 on Chewys back since you can't really put anything lego chewy's neck.

This is amazing I really love all the small details you put into.

Custom Mace Windu Jedi Intereptor Made from 75135
carnage717 replied to carnage717's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Yeah I love the purple color for some reason it just really pops. Here is a shot of the sticker sheet. I took me awhile to get the purple color right but I think it was worth the work. Just realized I put the wings on backwards when I took the first set of pics here they are the correct way Also here is a pick of part I removed from the cock that does nothing structurally for the set and takes up a ton of space in the cockpit. -
So my next custom interceptor is one for Mace Windu. This is sort of based off the Hasbro Transformers Interceptor which is where the purple color comes from. For this one I fixed alot of the problems people have been complaining about, most notably the front section by just below the canopy where you could see the technic holes and the cockpit. I alos filed in the back, lengthened the engines and added some angled part to the bottom to cover up the stupid missile shooters. To finish it off I made a custom color sticker sheet for it based on the sticker sheet from set 75135 and fixing a few issues with the sticker sheet like rotating the open circle fleet symbol 90 degrees to match the movie version of the interceptor. Overall I'm really happy how this turned out and I think it fixes a ton of issues with the set. I think im going to end up ordering all the parts I used for this one and fix my office 75135 set, especially the cockpit part. The front fix. I covered up the technic holes and addes some cheese wedges to cover it. The new cockpit. I ended up pulling the long rod out of complete model, pulling out that stupid section with the two pins in it. I really does serve no purpose other than to just take up space that could have been used for a proper cockpit. New lengthened engine and added parts to the back to fill in some holes. Better look at the bottom you see all the parts I filled in and better look at the front part.
