Lego City 2022 Rumours, Leaks, Information And Discussion
TeriXeri replied to Powered by Bricks's topic in LEGO Town
Maybe the Dog mould is for the City Police or Fire Station , both say 1 Dog ( + a Cat for the Fire station) -
Hopefully that squirrel is leading to some City Forest sets (some predicted it due to Friends having Forest this year)

At least based introduction / retirement , Action themes went from Chima (2013-2015), to Nexo (2016-2018), to Hidden Side (2nd half 2019-2020), to Monkie Kid. (2nd half 2020 - now) There was some overlap with the 2020 Hidden Side and Monkie Kid sets being available, but that was only a few months, sets being sold for less then 6 months seems pretty odd to me in case of Hidden Side quick retirement, aside from the firetruck set, lasting 4 months longer then the rest. Themes being planned ahead in advance makes sense in the case of Nexo's last wave being anticipated to be short (the show ended in 2017), and Hidden Side was probably in development during late 2017, and then I assume Monkie Kid got the priority eventually, being now the main in-house action theme beside Ninjago. Maybe there's room for something niche like a Faerie Fantasy, or different type of Pirates type theme (Vidiyo figures were not the typical Classic figures), which could appeal to both boys and girls , I don't see a Minidoll action theme happening however. Currently, short term for 2022, I think the most interesting development to keep an eye at is how there are no Legacy Ninjago sets this itme around, but sets called EVO, which seems like cheaper set segment instead of remakes of old sets.

Since Brickset started an Action feature topic today, lots of responses seem to be people loving action features in Castle sets Anyway, I hope to see more uses of the new projectile system introduced in 2020, and made in trans-light blue in 2021 Fire sets like this : I think that piece could work in a Castle theme in Brown as a ballista shooter, or trans red/orange as fireballs, or trans yellow/green/purple as more exotic magic projectiles.

Edit : I can find a few sets that indeed last 1 year in 2019 (Kayak Adventure + Desert Rally Racer) and 2020 (Stunt Team + Service Station) , but not 7 in year. Not that it matters much to me, I think City adding more locations like park, school, beach rescue post is nice, and small sets have to retire to make place for new ones, 2022 also combines fire and police in the main lineup of biggest sets. -
Nexo lasted almost 3 years, 5 waves of sets, for 4 waves of sets it was directly inspired from the TV show they made for it. (Encyclopedia Book says the vehicles were designed for the Show 1st, then adapted to LEGO sets, which make sense since that same book has a lot of concept art) It also had 32 Magazines and quite a lot of books (2 with exclusive figures), and some smaller books with figures from sets. Monkey Kid does have Mechs , Flyers, a Ship and big wheel vehicles, but I do think a full Space theme could still fit in there, especially like you say, Space Pirates or Adventurers. Space Pirates/Adventurers would be like Exploring planets , asteroids etc for treasure / relics / technology or something. Maybe there could still have some action sets like robbing a space bank, or infiltrating some alien lair for some sets.

Lego City 2022 Rumours, Leaks, Information And Discussion
TeriXeri replied to Powered by Bricks's topic in LEGO Town
Coast guard actually doesn't seem that unlikely, those 2020 Elite police sets are retiring, most of the Diving sets as well , so there's room for a Coast Guard Boat / Sea Helicopter type of set. With the 2017 Coast Guard HQ set the base and Ship are in the same set, I hope they are seperate next time, I loved the 2020 Diving base and was happy to see it standalone. LEGO did recently make a set with the big boat mould in the Baryonyx set, and that's the same size boat LEGO has used in City many times now : 2008 - Coast Guard (Orange) 2010 - Fire (Red) 2011 - Cargo (Green) 2013 - Coast Guard (White) , Chima (Olive) , 2014 - Arctic (Orange) 2017 - Coast Guard (White) 2021 - Jurassic world (Black) Of course the ship could use the newer, smaller hull from the 2016/2021 Police Boat as well if they want something different. What surprised me is that this set is already retiring, but the 2022 Beach Rescue station seems to have a Buggy and Jet Ski as well. -

Looks like the 4 2021 "Epic Battle" sets are retiring at the end of this year. Thats 71730 - 71733 Source (Stonewars End of Life List & Brickset Launch/Exit listed date) -

Stonewars updated it's End of Life list, and looks like some 2021 City are actually surprisingly retiring soon: (and brickset also shows 2021 as end dates). https://www.stonewars.de/news/lego-eol-end-of-life-2021/#lego-city-eol-2021 2021 sets include : 60279: Fire Hazard Truck 60285: Sports Car 60286: Beach Rescue ATV 60288: Race Buggy Transporter 60289: Airshow Jet Transporter 60290: Skate Park 60306: Shopping Street -
As far as Sitcom sets go, they seem to have some long planned lifespans (brickset recently added set dates to their data) . Queer Eye and F.R.I.E.N.D.S appartments have a listed retirement of December 2024 Seinfeld has a listed retirement of December 2023 Central Perk will go 1 more full year until December 2022. I guess the Office will last until at least December 2024 as well if it releases sometime in 2022. (I assume end date can still vary a bit depending on stock and production/sales rates at the end of a lifespan)
-
Comparing other IDEAS Sitcom sets: The Big Bang Theory was Approved 07 November 2014 , released as a set 01 August 2015 Central Perk was Approved 18 February 2019 , released as a set 01 September 2019 Seinfeld was Approved 23 June 2020 and released as a set 01 August 2021 I don't think this would release before at the very least second half of 2022, if not 2023. Currently there are 5 ideas yet to release, 1 for 2021 (Home Alone) , and 4 others for 2022 (Sonic, Van Gogh Starry Night, Earth Globe, Motorized Lighthouse)

I don't think my post was any panic , mostly a reflection of a "what if" , and what happened to 4 action themes in 4 years. In fact I wish themes would be succesful so they don't have to be exclusive to LEGO.com only. More sets like the White Dragon Horse Jet would make Space and Sci-Fi fans happy, I also think it's one of the better priced sets of the entire theme.
-
Or you will be if it's scrapped.

I'd be interested in the snowwhite if it's the original version, not a Licensed Disney-Fied version. The snow white story is over 200 years old, and was published more then 110 years before Walt Disney was even Born.

Now hopefully the Bricklink Designer Program can rescue some of the non-licensed projects like the Castles. I love the 3-in-1 Castle for sure, fantastic set, but it's the figures/accesoires/horses that are lacking to support those big sets. Barracuda Bay had a bit less of that issue as it came with a much bigger lineup of figs.

Designs for Nexo Knights were in development, but that got canceled / changed to end in 2018 , Hidden Side and LEGO Movie 2 had their last wave of sets pulled rather quickly, it's not the first time LEGO cancels something, only for sets to vanish within a few months with low production run, Vidiyo is getting dumped at mega prices. So that's 4 "Licensed In House" (Movie/app/TV show or both) themes prematurely canceled in some form in 4 years. With Monkie Kid being exclusive to LEGO.com in Europe, if LEGO did pull the plug, sets would be gone fast (or sold at marked up prices by 3rd party sellers).

Chinese New Year Sets - Rumors and Discussion
TeriXeri replied to Klaus-Dieter's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I hope it'll get back in stock for you people, but its Sold out in Europe (and not "temporary out of stock") since August 1, I doubt it's coming back. Brickset lists it as retiring end of this year, and Nian is retiring soon on the European lego.com as well. -
I've built a lot of sets, and some sets have extras of 1x1 (and other small) pieces in each bag (example are advent calendar), while other sets have 1-2 spares total of the same piece even while used in more then 2 bags. Most of the time I end up with 1 of each spare of a small piece unless its a very large set. For 42100 :Rebrickable lists 6 spare, Bricklink lists 5 extra of this : (I think the spares section on those site is manually updated, not an official LEGO source, which could explain differences) Some spares are pretty weird, like 2x in 31109 which is a part usually not as a spare, and it's also not used in alternate builds, maybe 2 are added in the case they break long term from having the sails attached.

If lamp shines on sets for long time, will it cause yellowing
TeriXeri replied to ks6349's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Can confirm, I've seen heavy yellowing on an old crater space baseplate while it was in dark storage for like 15 years, but that part was probably 40 years old since produced as it was from a 1979 set. Baseplate aren't typical "bricks" though. -
1 month later , after actually building the set, yes it's a bad choice out of 3 figures (I never called it a great choice either), even if its meant to be a civilian there are better Castle torsos available. Now that viking ship is rumoured to have 3 figures as well, I hope they won't make the same mistake , especially since 3-in-1 Pirate Ship did get a unique Captain torso. As I said in other topic , would really help to release some smaller Castle / Viking set, or figure pack, if they do more 3-in-1 sets. It wasn't as bad for Pirates as the 3-in-1 Captain was unique + Barracuda Bay had a large selection of then new figures.
-
Exactly, and it being 3-in-1 , smaller sets getting purchased more, both for armies and the 3 builds, and still packs more figures(per budget) then the €100 Castle (which is even rumoured to go up in price to €120 next year, so I assume viking ship will be €120 as well) Speaking for myself, I'm way more likely to buy multiples of a 3-in-1 on a set that's under €50 (and ideally isn't exclusive so gets discounted to around €35)
-
1000% agree here, LEGO seems to be very inconsistent in offerings , First City has People Packs, then nothing for 2020-2022, then Blister packs but nothing in 2021? Nexo had 2 series of figure packs in 2016/2017, 2013 Castle had figure packs (in 2014 actually), and those Ultimate and Battle suit sets were good extra small sets. Is it hard to ask for a set like this come at the same time with a 3-in-1 themed set ? For Pirates, it wasn't as bad as Barracuda Bay had a fantastic selection of figures. 2019 had a space accesoire pack. 2015 had a Pirates Chess set, but with Harry Potter Chess I don't see a new set like that soon. I understand LEGO might not make a figure pack for just 1 3-in-1 set theme, but do buildable animals like purple hedgehogs sell better then a small 3-in-1 €10 set with a viking? (sci-fi had the droid this year which I think was a nice figure for sure)
-
If there's any theme, I'd like a dedicated 3-in-1 spinoff to Buildings/Houses/Shops , and then compatible with eachother, like a cheaper series of modular buildings to make a street, sets wont have any vehicles included, and no City/Friends large panels. 3-in-1 had some compatible building series before, notably the 2014-2017 hinged buildings, and 2018-2019 "modules" , but last couple years there aren't that many Town buildings anymore. As for action themes, something without an app, tv show, just creativity, and also not exclusive to just LEGO.com (monkie kid). Maybe some historic-action theme, no mechs or sci-fi vehicles (unless it's a spaceship focused sci-fi theme), or some fantasy-magic based theme like Elves.

Lego City 2022 Rumours, Leaks, Information And Discussion
TeriXeri replied to Powered by Bricks's topic in LEGO Town
4 of the torsos were used in 2019 space sets so a re-use doesn't seem unlikely for those, and the space suits being flame orange/azure instead of orange/blue makes sense as well, and LEGO has been using a more Classic space like logo in 3-in-1 sets in 2020/2021 as well. If they are indeed in the sets, I think those space suits look fantastic.
