Classic Technic
TeriXeri replied to leafan's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Oh yeah, online instructions certainly are good, since I've had some old sets where the instructions weren't so fortunate to survive. Also there are great resources online to identify parts/sets. -

I actually did mean I found the paper instructions in the house so that makes it even more classic for me. -
Classic Technic
TeriXeri replied to leafan's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I made the 850 set a few years ago when I found the instruction sheet, 1977 is as classic as it's gets, older then myself. It's the first Technic set that existed so a Classic as it gets. Sets I can remember having in the house as well : 856 8223 8815 8825 8860 Ideas Book 8888. Not really Classic anymore but Slizers were my last technic sets before a dark age. I had all of them except the Millenium Slizer and Blaster. Nexo Knights has a fair bit of Technic in some sets. including some studded, so that brought back some technic feeling as well. -
The Future of Lego Space. (opinions, ideas, discussion)

I am still hoping for at least 1 of the 4 space ships we see in the background on the Benny's space squad box, and some tv/trailer media as a set.- 991 replies

The Future of Lego Space. (opinions, ideas, discussion)
TeriXeri replied to Trekkie99's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Color scheme was one of the main things that peaked my interest for Nexo Knights, and I do mean the Trans-Neon Orange over anything else, so it can indeed play a big role in some cases. I always loved Trans Neon Orange, and Trans Neon Yellow over many other colors due to 90s Space/Aquasharks and such. I only had the Aquashark submarine set, and 2 small Ice planet sets but I used those neon orange parts all the time in builds as a kid, mainly combined with the wing pieces from a 928 Classic Space Galaxy explorer to make a jet/spaceship design out of it. 90s space for me will always have a big nostalgia factor even while we had some Classic space sets in the house, I never experienced Classic Space when it was actual.- 991 replies

If my post came across like that, I certainly do not fall in that category of people. LEGO is a form of art and creativity after all, beside being a toy. Digital designs and their software are a great tool in this modern age. I love to see actual brick models on Ideas, but that doesn't mean I instantly hate digital ones. If it was meant asa generic statement that's okay too

Ok, I admit I misread that €15 in the list, must have been the samurai mech, oops. Off topic : Probably happened because I was also writing a post on the actual price difference that does exist between US and NL here , that actually goes both ways. 75203 Hoth Medical Chamber 255 pieces is €49.99 and $29.99. (Star Wars Licensed) 75951 Grindelwald´s Escape 132 pieces is €29.99 and $19.99. (Harry Potter Licensed) While a City sets for example are more expensive in US $ 60207 Drone Chase has 192 pieces, is €19.99 and $29.99 (City Police) 60214 Burger Bar Fire Rescue has 327 pieces is €29.99 and $39.99 (City Fire)

Marvel Superheroes 2019 - Rumours, Speculation & Discussion
TeriXeri replied to Anonknee Muss's topic in LEGO Licensed
They used to do that via catalogs way back before the 2000s, small catalogs were included in sets as well. But now the number of sets has grown so much, they spread releases over Seasons. Knowing all the sets for more then 11 months won't build any hype or media attention either. -
Destiny's Bounty, and Temple of Airjitzu were more then double the price of this. Just wanted to give my insight as someone basicly looking into new themes since my main focus of past years (Nexo Knights) ended right now. I might be interested in this one set on sale, + possibly the Samurai X mech as the skeletons are kinda cool too, depending on how spring/summer 2019 develops. I did like the Nexo Knight smaller Utlimate sets for sure ,I suppose that's the closest comparison to the Spinjitzu type sets.

True it does look like his battle suit version with the lines on it, very robe like, but at least he has the golden "armor" accents on it. The fact that he is "digital" in that set (going by the Comic story) explains the center "pixels" below the falcon logo. (Merlok/Monstrox have those pixels below their holograms as well) I just think the sudden ending confuses things for people in countries without the magazine. As the show never had Year 3 episodes.

Yeah, I noticed the armor was missing in that set, they did release the same but armored version of that minifig with hair via the magazine, and one with a helmet via an activity book, so it's basicly just his year 3 version.

Well, technically, 2017 did have this https://brickset.com/sets/NEX271713-1/Merlok-2-0 (2017) , with the magazine, but it's the same as the Fortrex one. As for the battle-station version with sticker, I meant this one https://brickset.com/sets/5004389-1/Battle-Station (2016)

Year 2 got no Merlok panel, but his mech instead. Year 3 (2018) has a different golden print.

3 if you count a limited edition battlestation sticker . But for printed ones, yes, 2 different ones, one was released twice (Fortrex and as magazine gift).

I think it's extra difficult these days, since digital building and rendering are much more available now. It's also getting harder to see difference between real and digital in some cases. Digital builds have an advantage as they can use parts that might not exist in certain colors, and no budget limiting them either. But personally I always prefer to see an actual Idea brick built, as digital techniques might have structural problems.

As a non-collector of the theme, I must say the monastery set is a great concept, full team of ninjas at once. Going forward I hope they'd do more of that in sets when it comes to themes based on a team of named characters.

City starter packs were amazing value minifig wise, but for 2019 I don't see any. Difference per area/currency seems to play a role too: (Comparing US and The Netherlands official LEGO shop at home). While the speed champions are both $15/€15, and smallest City set are $10/€10, there's certainly differences the higher you go. Some City sets like 60207 Drone Chase has 192 pieces, and costs €19.99 but $29.99. , 60214 Burger Bar Fire Rescue has 327 pieces is €29.99 and $39.99. But this also has been the case the other way around in many themes outside of City: 75951 Grindelwald´s Escape 132 pieces is €29.99 and $19.99. 75203 Hoth Medical Chamber 255 pieces is €49.99 and $29.99. that's an extreme difference, even moreso when with exchange rates , the US price is ~€26.15 that costs nearly double instead. Just using a small sample of 2018/2019 sets, it really can vary widely from theme to theme.

Color wise 80s and 90s were very interesting, lots of different transparent colors were only mostly seen with Space sets until later. 1993 Castle used trans neon orange flames on it's dragon's breath, same year Ice Planet was introduced, later also seen in Fright Knights, with the dragons wings/breath. 1995 Aquazone was the first big non-space theme to use larger transparent parts. Up until 1997, Town mostly had trans clear and light-blue larger parts, with some 1x1 studs and plates in other transparent colors.

Like I said in the other thread, after some thinking and comparing , I do think the 16+ set is more likely to be the Tree house, unless they really did take off 1900 pieces. That's possible too, the original has lots of layers of plates and tiny pieces. Only way to know is wait and see.

Ideas 2019 - Rumours, Speculation and Discussion
TeriXeri replied to Calunca's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Actually do think the 16+ set might still be the Tree House as well, because going from 2600 to 750 pieces is a huge reduction, however still not 100% out of the question, seeing how many small plates, tiles and 1x1 parts are on the original. Only way is to wait and see. As for age ratings: Ideas Voltron set was 16+ Saturn V was 14+ as far as more recent Ideas large sets go. Creator Expert Modulars and many other sets in that line have 16+ as well. I am not 100% sure what determines the age, it's not directly related to piece count (old fishing shack being 12+ with 2000+ parts), but it seems to have to do with complexity of the builds as well. -
I got 1 early for now, might get more later on sale or depending where the City 2019 Space theme ends up, or if TLM2 has a wave of summer sets. While I did actually have some old Classic Space sets in my childhood way back then, including the famous 928 galaxy explorer with the moon/landing baseplates. I Keep those new ones seperate, but I keep all my LEGO up to the year 2000 seperate from my 2016+ sets. (didn't get anything 2001-2015)

Ideas 2019 - Rumours, Speculation and Discussion
TeriXeri replied to Calunca's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Going from 2643 down to 751 pieces seems alot however, that's 1900 less pieces, but then again, the original model uses a lot of plates and small pieces. Either way, still looking forward to the design even if it actually ends up with 751 pieces and smaller or simplified, if anything, it'll be a better price point, not complaining. -
LEGO Creator 2019 - Rumors, Discussion, and Speculation
TeriXeri replied to Digger of Bricks's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Of course it could just mean a Horse ride like you'd see on a fairground or small carroussel instead of an actual animal related set. Of something completely different even, still interested to see whatever it'll be. This is why I thought of horses , and Manege also means that Dutch : Noun manège (countable and uncountable, plural manèges) 1 The art of training and riding horses, dressage. 2 A riding school. 3 (Britain) A riding arena (enclosed, but usually unroofed area, in contradistinction to a riding hall). 4 The movements of a trained horse.- 280 replies

LEGO Creator 2019 - Rumors, Discussion, and Speculation
TeriXeri replied to Digger of Bricks's topic in Special LEGO Themes
As predicted, bigger sets for Summer wave. Double Helix Helicopter might be the "big vehicle" set as we had one in 2015 (jet), 2017 (car). Could be a 3-in-1 Chinook, Osprey, or Kamov helicopter. Manege sounds like a Horse Stable , wonder if it's brick-built horses since Creator 3-in-1 tend to have brick-built animals, even 2019 has a pelican and crocodile. Pet Shop & Cafe sounds good too. Definately looking forward to seeing those sets, along with the City Donut shop and eventual Ideas Treehouse.- 280 replies
