LEGO Videogame Tie-Ins - Rumors & Discussion
TeriXeri replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
Overwatch had a LEGO skin for Bastion back in September but very little news about the sets, at least nothing public afaik. I know Overwatch 2 was announced, so the game/franchise isn't gone, maybe the LEGO sets delayed due to the OW2 seeming so far away. OW2 might not even come in 2020. -
I remember the whole discussion about Overwatch leading to possible Warcraft sets, right now even Overwatch 2020 sets seem left in the dark, we got set names/numbers but unlike 2019, no sets for January 1st and nothing at Blizzcon.

I loved seeing those ideas on boxes. They even had it on the boxes of Star Wars sets , I did some searching around, and so far I can find examples up to 2006 at least. This is from 2006 Imperial Star Destroyer : https://brickset.com/sets/6211-1/Imperial-Star-Destroyer I know they have the 3-in-1 theme now, but there was something special about seeing those for pretty much each set, but also could lead to frustration of not having instructions.

It certainly is, LEGO even seems to have skipped a bunch of set numbers for this to end up with 6267 , which are the same numbers as 6672, leave out the zero from 60267.

They started using Teal ones in 2019, but both 2019 and 2020 have sets with Orange or Teal in them. Some sets within the same theme even have different color seperators. https://brickset.com/parts/design-31510 For example 2 Friends sets for 2020 : Teal : Orange :

2019 Friends had a small bear in set 41363-1: Mia's Forest Adventures I think as "young" animals, having a bit cute eyes isn't too bad. The 2019 Friends Turtles also look nice : 41376-1: Turtles Rescue Mission And that's just current sets, apparently there might be some more "jungle" themed sets later for Friends. 41421 Jungle's Baby Elephant 41422 Jungle's Panda 41423 Jungle's White Tiger 41424 Jungle's Tree Top Sanctuary

Star Wars VS In-House Space: Which do you think is better and why?
TeriXeri replied to Lego David's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Might be true for me, I did grow up with some Classic Space from my family, mainly the Galaxy Explorer set and it's baseplates/parts, and later had some smaller in-house space sets from themes like Blacktron2/M-Tron/Ice Planet/UFO/Insectoids. My LEGO Dark Age started just after LEGO Star Wars launched around 2001. I did have 1 SW set back then, the 1999 Landspeeder, but it still had yellow figures so just saw it as another theme, and back then there were still alternate build suggestions, even on Star Wars boxes. And I did see the prequel movies in Cinema when they were launched, it just never got me back to LEGO SW of said movies. When I came back to LEGO in 2016 I had zero interest in Star Wars at all, never seen the newer movies beside trailers/fragments. And the Flesh-toned figures don't interest me as much either. That said, themes like Alien Conquest , Galaxy Squad, Space Police 3, and the 2 Mars theme also have 0 nostalgia because of that 15-year no-LEGO period. I can surely appreciate the sets/designs on some of them, they just don't feel the same as the themes that I saw all the time in the catalogs in the late 80s and 90s. I loved Ice Planet back then, I didn't have many sets, but still might be part of the reason I got back into LEGO via Nexo Knights with the connection of Blue + Neon-Orange. -
From what I see so far this might be more of a revived Scala with tiles and not pure clickits. I don't know if those things pictured are even parts of the sets themselves as they hardly look like LEGO, but the Dots logo certainly uses 1x1 tile shapes. Talking about the top-right smaller picture here , those look like generic beads and not part of the line, just guessing here based on the other pictures.

Those Opal Variants are certainly Interesting new colors. Also been noticing on review videos & pictures that many other transparent parts are less transparent as well.

Those Chinese New Year sets are more widely distributed in the Asia/Pacific Market. I see you are in Vietnam. 80101 - 80102 weren't even sold in Europe, and 80103 came months later. There are very few shops here that sell those exclusive sets, and if they do, the price can be higher then LEGO.com, especially after it retires there. If an exclusive set is new, it could take a few months for them to show up in other webshops beside LEGO themselves (I use a price tracking website). More people buy products online here and many physical toy shops closed down (about 45% closed down in my country in the last 10 years, not just LEGO , all toys) LEGO opening their own 2 physical brand stores here was nice however, as that offers more then just sets.

LEGO City 2020 - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion
TeriXeri replied to Digger of Bricks's topic in LEGO Town
Seeing those new chassis pieces surprised me for that Race Car set (also in 4 other City 2020 sets). Seems to signal that 6 wide is here to stay for City which isn't a bad thing with good designs. Those cars have 4 studs in-between the wheels with the default wheels/arches used, the older 6-wide Speed Champions mostly had 5-6 studs inbetween the slightly larger wheels (that also use technic pins so can't be used here) As long as not 100% of vehicles are the using the same piece I think having a piece like this isn't too bad. Talking about this piece : Reminds me of a larger version of this , which is still in use in 2020 City, from all the way back in 1987 Town. Now if 4+ would use that new piece instead of this, that'd be great (AFOL point of view) but I doubt that'll happen : -
There is a Driving School set made in 2019 but sadly it's exclusive to LEGOLAND parks so not City Of course the design is very stylized towards the kids attraction in the parks themselves , but seeing something like this in City could work for sure.

Star Wars VS In-House Space: Which do you think is better and why?
TeriXeri replied to Lego David's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
That's how I feel as well, Star Wars will never feel truly original LEGO for me. LEGO used to advertise with "Just Imagine" , and with their 60th anniversary sets they had the slogan Building Bigger Thinking with all sorts of questions on the box. Also their recent Rebuild the World campaign seemed to promote free creativity with flying boats and such , I love that simple imagination. Maybe if Star Wars kept their yellow figs I might have a different view, same goes for other licensed themes , probably because my 15 year of being away from LEGO. Generally with Licensed themes, the fleshie figures and the usually increased cost doesn't help for me, they don't feel part of the rest. Strictly talking about Sets here, not freedom of LEGO Star Wars parts that come with those sets. -
LEGO Monkie Kid 2020
TeriXeri replied to Classic_Spaceman's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
It can be more then 18 total sets if you count polybags, promos, gift with purchase or magazines but it just depends how you do the filtering as my post above shows it matters. 71360 - 71377 = 18 normal sets so far. Regular Polybags are usually 30xxx numbered so not part of those 18. -
A Castle set would be nice, even if it was a somewhat "facade" style like the school, but also not rely on 50 stickers or too much transformative features taking away from the depth. A Castle (or Tower or Ruin) doesn't need to function as an everyday building but could still feature ghosts in knights armor, living stone statues/gargoyles or spiderwebs.

LEGO Monkie Kid 2020
TeriXeri replied to Classic_Spaceman's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
If that's the case it'd be a huge minidoll theme, far bigger then Elves at least ,which had 6 sets at launch (March 2015) : https://brickset.com/sets/theme-Elves/releasedin-EU-2015-03 I'm not saying the new theme can't have minidolls however. I like to use the new Brickset filter by release year/month as it filters out a lot of smaller promo/polybags/magazine gifts in a given year which usually have different set numbers anyway. https://brickset.com/browse/sets/byyear/ If I filter out Friends for 2012 : https://brickset.com/sets/theme-Friends/releasedin-EU-2011-12 - 14 sets at launch / January 2012 https://brickset.com/sets/theme-Friends/releasedin-EU-2012-07 - 8 sets in July 2012 https://brickset.com/sets/3316-1 - Friends Advent Calendar in September 2012 So that makes it 23 regular sets in 2012, rather then the inflated 36. If anything, 18 would be on-par with previous "big-bang" themes, as those had 16-17 sets at launch with the Promo's/Polybags filtered out: 2016 Nexo Knights launched with 17 sets, 6 of which were Ultimate. https://brickset.com/sets/theme-Nexo-Knights/releasedin-EU-2016-01 2013 Chima launched with 16 sets, 7 of which were Speedorz. https://brickset.com/sets/theme-Legends-of-Chima/releasedin-EU-2012-12 2011 Ninjago launched with 17 sets, 7 of which were Spinners. https://brickset.com/sets/theme-Ninjago/releasedin-EU-2010-12 Didn't mean to nitpick on numbers here by the way, just trying to clear up the difference between total sets in a given year. 71360 - 71377 still is a very large range of regular set numbers regardless. On a similar note, the full year 2016 Nexo Knights had 28 regular sets out of 50 total, the other 22 being : 2 Battlepacks 2 TRU sets 3 other promo sets 4 Polybags 11 Magazine Gifts -
Exactly this, and also sales could affect this a lot. I never buy sets at full retail price unless I know it's LEGO.com only (like the Chinese New Year sets) and even then wait for a giveaway/promo. Most of my purchases are done online as big-discount places like Targets or Walmarts simply don't exist here, and many regular physical toy shops closed down.

Lego Ideas Support Thread - Historical/Castle
TeriXeri replied to leafan's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
The Modular Knight's Castle , I love that. Again, not too big, yet uses full brick built walls again that still keep the look of older sets. And a set like this with 2 smaller castles of different factions would make a great playset, and still could be combined into a larger structure as well. Also makes it very expandable with multiples, both in structure and army building.- 532 replies

Aquarium to me is the most interesting. Winter Chalet is very nice as well but might be too similar to the Winter Village line. A Minifig/System Bionicle theme could be interesting in the future, using those mixel joints and modern parts instead of CCBS but that might upset older fans. As for those licensed themes, personally not really interested.

LEGO Monkie Kid 2020
TeriXeri replied to Classic_Spaceman's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I've recently been fascinated by some of those Legend of Chima builds, I didn't really look at the theme much during 2016-2019 , but now I really do appreciate many of those sets, especially the structures/locations and the Tribe Packs. And I've been thinking how that could translate to a more Pirate/Castle or Time-Travel type theme. While they did have a lot of mobile bases and vehicles, it still was somewhat different compared to the approach of Nexo Knights. Later the theme did progress into a Fire vs Ice team, but still had certain animals for each group. Even if they had repeating characters throughout, it didn't really follow the "power ranger" style of colored sets for each of the 5-6 heroes, but rather based it's sets around the Tribes, and that's been something interesting. Instead of animal tribe builds, imagine there being different eras of tribes. Examples of Tribes/Factions from different eras could be : Pirates : Pirate/Soldiers/Islanders Western: Indians/Cowboys/Bandits Adventurers : Desert / Jungle / Orient good and bad guys Castle : Good Knights / Dark Knights / Fantasy Figures or large Monster(like Trolls/Dragons) Sets could be a mix of "vehicles" and location sets Pirates : Pirate Ship, Soldier Fort, Islanders Island Indian Village, Cowboy Fort/Village / Bank Robbery or Gold Mine (with carts and horses as side builds or seperate sets) Adventurer : Include some locations from either Desert, Jungle, or Orient themes, with smaller vehicles. Castle : Castle/Tower/Bridge type set, competing (Fantasy) faction set, and some Siege or Large monster set. Of course this just maybe too good to be true but it's interesting to think like Tribes/Eras instead of just a hero/villain team. Also if any conflict/action is involved, don't overthink things like how Western Revolvers would be too strong vs Castle Crossbows etc, or Catapults vs Pirate Cannons. Chima mostly just had fantasy weapons up to imagination. -
New AFOL looking for advice
TeriXeri replied to Tommy C's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
There could be different ways to start : (Digital) designing in advance and buying parts. Alternate Builds of sets. Go further then a single set and mix sets/themes/parts. -
LEGO Creator 2020 - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion
TeriXeri replied to Digger of Bricks's topic in Special LEGO Themes
2017 + Winter 2018 basicly was 1 "year" with 5-6 houses (if you consider Winter Vacation a house or shop, interior is easily changed). Now all those retired. Waiting to see if Summer 2020 brings something at least, as summer Creator have the largest sets, and those older house set designs still easily fall into the parts count of around 750-950 those summer set tend to have. I'd love something larger with a sloped roof for sure. -
Brickset recently added a feature to see what month released what theme's sets : https://brickset.com/browse/sets/byyear/ 2019 Summer City sets released around June in Europe (August for US) , which included the Space subtheme , People Packs, Donut Shop, 4+ Garage and Fire Chief Truck : https://brickset.com/sets/theme-City/releasedin-EU-2019-06 (11 sets + 4-figure pack) Then the Ski Resort / Advent Calendars released in September : https://brickset.com/sets/theme-City/releasedin-EU-2019-09

Bag 1 + 2 contain the helicopter parts and 3 of the minifigures : 2 criminals and 1 Policeman with wing-jetpack. Instructions : https://www.lego.com/biassets/bi/6268728.pdf The armored truck is the main reason I got this set, it's just very good, even as a prisoner transport. I still eventually got the Diamond Heist, Parachute Arrest jet set and Drone Chase helicopter set on discount. Especially the jet and helicopter was perhaps closer to military designs then you'd expect from City so they stood out. 2019 was the first year I started collecting Police, but I didn't get the Air Base, the airplane being the largest budget of the set just don't appeal to me when the Jet was already available. Now mainly waiting for discount on the 2020 Police station or Police Box.

Lego Island and Lego City are the same place?
TeriXeri replied to Driver Brandon Grumman's topic in LEGO Town
I did play LEGO Island and LEGO Creator on PC when they were current, and also LEGO Racers on the Nintendo 64. I didn't have the infomaniac minifigure of LEGO island, not all boxed versions had it included. But I did get Biker Bob with the Creator game. But I never played the sequels, like LEGO Island 2 , or Island Xtreme Stunts, both came out at the start of my no-LEGO period which started after 2000.
