Cypr-21, Eric discovered a few slight errors when building last night including one with the rear hatch where the spoiler attaches to... The Instructions are calling for (four) 4L thin liftarms in the rear and they should be (four 3L) thin liftarms... With the 4L liftarms, the rear will not close, which looks like you may have done on your build... I had sent several early instructions out for people to test and report any errors to me, but unfortunately no one seemed to notice them... Eric is working on fixing these issues and will upload the fixed instructions... I am also getting a link to your website set up at my site, but I am having some strange problems getting pictures to upload... When you look at the side view of the car, the rear hatch should line up with rear back panel like this: -
What do you mean by "Your" brickshelf folder? Do you have some new images that we haven't seen? The pics are all over the internet(I have them saved on my computer as well) unless you have something that no one else has seen... This doesn't quite look like the same thing that were in the early prelim picture... It just seems like the entire rear of the vehicle including the roof is white... Then again, I guess that you couldn't really see the roof from the prelim box art...

Eff, could you send me a picture that you would like me to use for a link for your models...? pb3@crowkillers.com -
I know... I thought that Black/Orange combo looked so good together too... And yes, that definitely looks like the new Tractor set... It's a little blurry, but you can make out what it is... Plus it is right in the sequence of the price of the sets with what it's speculated(and confirmed) price was...

Lucky for me my wife is the set builder in the house... She already has a list of stuff she wants with the new mini modular buildings first on it followed by the new Log Truck... I remember when we went on our first date back in 2004 and we stopped in a Toys R Us because she had to get some kind of gift for her friend's daughter's birthday, and we walked past the Lego section and she said "I can't believe how cool Legos got since I was little and played with them" to which I replied "You have no idea..." -
The Same exact thing happened last year with the 8070 supercar... It was supposed to be released in the same timeframe(Late Feb/Early March) and the same store "Argos" had some exclusive early release privileged and it was released there a month earlier than anywhere else including Lego's website... The set was finally available everywhere else the last week of February...

Don't know exactly... I am sure they wanted the Black one in the 8070 because it wouldn't stick out as much for the H.O.G. steering, so they just used all black gears instead of mixing them up with 2 different colors... Perhaps Lego was trying to get rid of their stock of tan bevel gears in the other sets...? I actually think that the Tan 20 tooth bevel gears mesh better together with the smaller black 12 tooth bevel gears than the 20 tooth black ones do... I know this doesn't quite make sense because they are the same, but you can try it out for yourself and decide... You can even hear a little more friction noise with the Black 20 tooth gears and black 12 tooth gears than you can with a Tan and black combo...

From all of the shows that I have done the response from the public has always been extremely positive... I even got to sign an autograph at Brickworld 2010 which was completely overwhelming to me... However... It always seemed that the actual people that display at the shows are stuck into their own theme and they are primarily the ones who I have had negativity from in the past... I have the upmost respect for every style of building, in fact as I have said before, most of my favorite models are not even in the Technic theme... You can easily see how unpopular Technic is with the other builders because if you ever look at videos on youtube or Pictures taken from shows by them, they almost always leave out the Technic stuff...

Ever since Toys R Us started running the Buy one get 50% off sale every week they last year, they jacked up the prices on everything... It used to be certain sets, but now it is just about everything.... You can still save a few dollars when they run the buy get 50% off, but not as much as you actually should...

Prorotype parts
Paul Boratko replied to Zerobricks's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Yeah, they are 1 x 3 thin liftarms.. You can see them a little better in one of the pictures in the link... Looks like the steering was originally going to be operated by turning one of the lights on the Driver's side of the Unimog... -

I don't see any reason why not either... I say get it up as soon as possible... Anyone who wants to build either car can get a jump start by getting all of the needed parts early... -
I wouldn't lose to much sleep over it if I were you... There have been videos up on youtube for the 3 or 4 weeks with pictures of all of the 2012 sets including the new Lord of the Rings sets... And Videos get pulled from youtube all of the time for every little thing, so I don't think Lego is too concerned... If anything, they are probably happy that those videos with the fuzzy pics are there so that they can generate suspense and build excitement...

The steering Radius is a few degrees shorter than the traditional steering, but this is due to how the suspension is set up with the knob ends of the steering knuckle hitting the part that connects to the shock above it... I also based the body of my new car around this change in radius... In a real car the pivot point of the steering hub is much closer to the wheel making it steer almost on a Zero degree axis while we don't quite have that with the standard Steering gear from Lego... -
Simple technic building
Paul Boratko replied to happymark's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I took part in a similar event last year with 30 kids from 8 to 14... The best thing to do is be prepared and focus around the 6 basic simple machines: The Incline The Screw The Pulley The Wheel and axle The Wedge The Lever I gave each kid the same packet of parts(About 50) and we went through how each of the 6 machines worked and in the last hour they had a contest to see who could build the most machines into one creation... It was pretty cool... Then I let all of the kids keep the parts... Amazingly none of them had ever played with Technic before that... I like to think that I turned on most of their minds in the way of Technic... -

Nice Job... That car that you built is also very very nice...
