Here is my gripe with this situation.. If Nathanael doesn't come out and say instructions are coming, would these have been bought up...? I really think that it is just too strong a coincidence that Nathanael made an article talking about his instructions being done and shows a parts list and then a few days later this large purchase is made for 44 rare Enzo wheel covers... Those covers had been up at bricklink for awhile... It wasn't like they were just added and then bought the next day.... They have also been out of stock from Lego Direct for some time now... I have to be honest.. I am wondering if in fact they are legit Lego ones or not... There is a Lego knock off company that made fake copies of the 8653 Enzo Ferrari for $29.99 USD and the wheel covers that it had were identical to the Lego ones and if you a novice with parts, you wouldn't know the difference... Nathanael and Josh could have just created an escalated price for a part for some stranger who didn't do anything more than hit "Submit Order" This is a slightly different situation than buying a part from Lego Direct for 50 cents and selling it for $5... I guess time will tell to see what the outcome is, although I highly doubt that we'll be seeing any new 44 wheeled Ferrari MOCs anytime soon...

A year ago someone did the same crap to me where they were buying up all of the parts for my Gallardo and then actually contacted me to tell me that they were in fact selling kits for my design.... They had got the idea because I was selling my own kits and they thought there was a large profit to be gained, but they couldn't have been more wrong... It isn't just a coincidence that 44 of these have been sold where as they are not a crucial part to Nathanael's model, in fact you will definitely see his model built by most people without these wheel covers anyways, which is something that is making me think #1... Anio, I had seen your post at Technicbricks, so I decided to check on them myself and they were in fact all sold to one person... I mean it doesn't make much difference to me because I have had his model for over a year now, but this is bad news for anyone out there that will be looking for these ultra rare wheels covers to keep the model true to it's designer... July 2011 Qty Each 44 ~US $4.50 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Times Sold: 1 Total Qty: 44 Min Price: US $4.50 Avg Price: US $4.50 Qty Avg Price: US $4.50 Max Price: US $4.50

One thing that really bothers me is the fact that there was a bricklink seller from France that had just sold 44 of the 8653 Enzo wheel covers, all to one person... This concerns me because there is no doubt in my mind that whomever bought up all of these did it for one of 2 reasons. 1.) There are trying to sccop up parts to assemble kits for Nathanael's Concept Car model in advance before the instructions are released... 2.) They are going to try and make even more money off of them because people are going to be looking for them...

I actually had seen this auction a few days and was hesitant to post about it as not to stir up anything and was hoping the auction would end and the seller would get frustrated and give up on selling Jurgen Krooshoop's design... It is quite unfortunate to see things like this happen, but the reality is that there really isn't anything that can be done about it as far as the actual model goes... However, if someone is also selling or gaining profits from marked or stamped instructions, then you may be able to take some legal action against the seller... There obviously are not many changes in the so called "Modification" of this model in question to call it someone's own design where as they should not have to at least credit Jurgen for the work... In the past 4 years there have been 9 people(At least 9 that I had discovered or was notified about) scattered from all over the world that have sold something on Ebay that I designed (without my recognition) and there was absolutely nothing I could do about it other than complain, which didn't matter anyways because many times there was a language barrier between the seller and myself, so it got to the point where I stopped caring and just came to the conclusion that it is best to just accept that someone thinks your work was good enough to possibly profit from... What this all comes down to is a morality issue more so than a legal one...

Ralph, are you making the trip alone? I noticed that you were the only registered attendee from The Netherlands. Looking forward to meeting you and seeing your amazing work in person.

So what you are saying is that I wasted a month designing a Transmission Drive train that had already been done fifteen years ago...? If that is the case, then I must have cow manure in the crevasse where my brain is supposed to be... I am starting to wonder why I even bother to upload anything to the internet...

Studless vs. Studful
Paul Boratko replied to timslegos's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
If you are starting from nothing, the absolute best way to stock up on new studless parts is by waiting until Toys R Us runs one of their buy one get one 50% off deals, which they have been doing quite frequently this year(about every 5 to 6 weeks) They do this both online and instore...And online is FREE shipping for orders over $100(In the U.S. it is anyways) A few weeks ago they ran a buy 2 get the 3rd one 90% off, which is almost buy 2 and get one free... I am hoping they run this special the same time as when the Unimog is released here in the states... -
Studless vs. Studful
Paul Boratko replied to timslegos's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I have been building studless for awhile now, but I still appreciate studded building more... I just try to stay up to date with all of the new parts... Studless like Studded has it advantages and disadvantages... I also still think the general public and new people that get into building are having a tough time grasping what exactly studless parts even are... I did a Lego Kid's fest in Pittsburgh a few weeks ago and had quite a few people questioning the integrity of my models claiming that I was using outside products like Kinex and Megabloks... Studless parts certainly are much easier to clean, that is for sure... -
I would imagine that the other 2 Technic Summer sets would be released first...? Or maybe not... Heck, I haven't even seen the 8081 extreme cruiser in stores yet... I know last year the Motorbike, Container Truck, and mobile crane got released on July 14th at Toys R Us... Like I posted earlier, you can order all of the Parts for the Unimog from Lego Direct on July 2nd, so I simply can't imagine the release date being too far off...

ALL of the new parts for the 8110 will be available from Lego Direct on July 2nd... They have all of the prices for the parts now... None of them seem to be too high... The new shocks are $1.91 USD, The Hub is $1.04 and the new portal part is $2.08, I believe the new tires were $4.54... They also have the prices for all of the new orange parts too... Just thought that I would give everyone a heads up in case they wanted to try out the new parts before buying the set....

Just a mad idea
Paul Boratko replied to Phantom59's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I am fairly certain that model was designed before Nathanael's time at Lego... -

I wasn't looking into changing or modify anything... I was just curious what connected that part because when it is snapped into place, I can't tell if there is room for a regular axle to pass through or not... OK.. I rotated and blew up the picture in the link that was posted... I see where things went wrong now... They must also have the new style differential flip-flopped, because the 24 tooth part of the correct differential will hit the sleeve, but it would ever so slightly clear if there is a bushing there... I have to say that I am a little surprised that when the guys were building this that they didn't notice all of the pressure that was being applied by the new style differential on the axle above it....
-
So then the center differential is in fact supposed to be the older styled 4L one...? I mean this makes perfect sense for that to work and these are still stock, in fact I just ordered a bunch of them last month... So are the instructions wrong as well...? It looks like they call for the new styled 3L differential with a red bushing on one end....
