LOL.. Yeah I know... The fact that this piece will be available once again in black is going to be very important in the near future... On a side note, I know that I am a strictly car guy, but something that I think would be really really cool for a flagship set would be a 2,500 piece, 4 module Great Ball Contraption set... Definitely would be something different... This Rock Crawler thing sounds interesting, but I can't see the release of this using the PF motors... There has to be something new.... These PF motors are worthless moving large vehicles for a given amount of time unless they are very very lightweight... -

I admit, I did get excited when the 8081 prelim pics hit the net because I was certain that the toggle pieces were going to be black for the finalized model... But actually seeing them in black here on a prelim instead of grey is making me think that this could be real deal.. I also see some new orange short panels on that quad... -
Henri, I immediately replied to your e-mail on Sepetember 10th with the information on how to download the instructions and sent the information to the address that you requested and once again replied yesterday when you sent another e-mail to me on how to download the instructions.... Henri, I sent you a P.M. on here with the information on how to download the instructions...

YES Smooth Black Toggle Joints in the Tow Truck! Now why were these not in the 8081 set..? -
I am not talking about the new 16t clutch gears, I know that they are the newest upgraded part, just the regular 16t gears... They started showing up in the 8043 sets last year... I ordered 100 16t gears from Lego at the beginning of this year and the ones that I got were the new style... Just seems a little odd to see the old style in a set that was just recently released...

Power puller wheels!
Paul Boratko replied to davidmull's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
No, they are off of the 8466 Offroader set.... They are the same tire minus the writing... HERE are the tires minus the writing... -
I can't help but notice the amount of listings for the 8110 sets on Ebay for $174.99 USD(and less) with free shipping... If you break this down, $175 minus say $20 for shipping, 4%($7) for Paypal Fees, and $18 for Ebay Fees means that these people have to be getting these sets for around $100 to even make a profit... Did I miss a great sale somewhere..?

Power puller wheels!
Paul Boratko replied to davidmull's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Lego did the same thing with the tires for the 8258 Silver Champion where they said "Technic Racing" on them... Same Tires as the Williams F1(They Said "Michelin") and the 8674 Ferrari F1 that Nathanael designed... The tires from the Power Puller are expensive because they are pretty old and there were only 2 per set... I do believe that the 8466 Tires are exactly the same minus the writing... -
I bought this for my wife a few weeks ago and she decided that she didn't like it, so she tore it down and brought all of the parts to me to add to my inventory and I couldn't help but notice that the 16 tooth gears were the older type... Does anyone have any idea how old this set really is? I know it just came out a few months ago, but considering the fact that the sets all switched to the new 16 tooth gear type(starting with the excavator last year), it was making me wonder if in fact this set was something that was possibly supposed to be released last year and that perhaps Lego was sitting on it waiting for time to pass... Has anyone else got the set with the new gears?

I just updated my site and added multiple links to yours(on the front page and in both of the instructions sections). I applaud you for what you have done for the Lego community... Great Work..! -
Lego 8081
Paul Boratko replied to davidmull's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I picked one of these up today at Toys R us for my wife... I have to admit, this is a pretty weak set... It is a good set for black panels though... I am also still baffled by the Light Blue Gray Smooth Toggle Joints used in the top corners of the front window... Completely throws the entire color scheme off... -
I think what this all comes down to is what is provided back to the Lego Community... Yes, I sold many of my Gallardo instructions that Eric did for my model and I sold over 40 kits(which I really didn't make anything off of) but in turn all of that money went right back to the Lego community both directly and indirectly whether I was sending people parts they needed for free, paying for my site until the year 2014, or perhaps even inspiring a few new builders... In fact I had about 10 people ask if they could have my download for free because they didn't have the money or didn't have a Paypal account and I didn't hesitate to provide them with the Login information... This is no different with Nathanael's new model's instructions... I have been promoting this model for well over a year and finally the instructions are available and I am not asking for a single cent from Nathanael for hosting, promoting, or helping with other issues as I feel that I owe it to him for all of the inspiration that he has provided me over the years, so I don't see what the big issue is with having to shell out a measly $15 for some fantastic well done instructions... I am most certain that Nathanael gaining some monetary compensation will encourage and drive him to continue to produce even more amazing models in the future... If you want to upload 40MB and e-mail them out, then be my guest... Maybe you can gain some money from it....

MOC: square gears
Paul Boratko replied to SNIPE's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Square Gears..? It's an interesting gimmick, but makes about as much sense as driving a car with square wheels... Then again, according to , that is how they roll in Canada... -
They are probably changing them for multiple reasons starting with the fact that they really are not ever going to be used... One of the biggest flaws with attaching anything with teeth to the teeth is that you lose a small portion of a stud width. Like if you were to use an old 1/2 stud with teeth(or even another 16 tooth clutch gear) and place the teeth against each other to lock in place, then you are losing 1/4 of a stud thus making it hard for these things to stay together and leads to wobble due to extra space on the axle... Another problem that I had was when using normal 1/2 bushings against the teeth, one side of the 1/2 bushing is smooth and the other has a slight burr on it(Most likely from the mold) when the side with the burr is against the teeth of the gear, it causes friction against the teeth, thus leading to some binding that should not be...

8110 B snow plough
Paul Boratko replied to davidmull's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
The most cost effective way to get needed parts cheap is by buying sets. And more so when places like Toys R us run there buy one get 50% off deals(which seems to be about every 3 to 4 weeks)... Now if you want say 100 CV joints or 50 Differential Boxes, then like DLuders said, Lego Shop at Home is without a doubt the way to go as you will get raped on Bricklink for those parts... With the Unimog, it would probably be best to actually buy a second one for all of the needed parts for the Snow Plow and either keep or sell off the remaining parts that you have left over.. You could probably sell the remaining parts and just about pay for the entire set and you would just about be getting the Plow parts for free... Plus you would be getting all of the parts in one shot rather than have to buy from several different people and pick and choose the better prices between Lego Shop at Home and Bricklink which can be very frustrating and time consuming... That is of course if you have the money on hand to shell out for another expensive set... My wife wants the set and wants to build both options at once, so I am waiting until Toys R us runs the next promotion to get 2 sets for $300 USD... We were hoping to grab 2 sets at 30% off during Brickfair, but the Lego stores were not getting them in until the Monday after the show was over... The people that work at Lego Shop at Home are without a doubt the nicest people on the face of the planet... I have been on the phone with different reps for over an hour multiple times... HERE is the complete parts list from TechnicBricks just incase you didn't see it... -
I couldn't agree more... I got a really great look at this model over the weekend at BrickFair(There was a guy who ordered one from Lego Shop at home and built it there) and I have to admit that it was really odd that they placed that pan hard rod 1/2 a stud off centered just so the front wheels wouldn't rub the front fenders if steered and compressed sideways... I already know this had been discussed earlier in this thread... The model just looks really strange with the entire suspension off-centered and not symmetrical... I do have a question for anyone who owns the model as I am going to be ordering 2 sets for my wife... If you center the suspension how it should be using the regular perpendicular connector instead of the double offset one, can you use 2 Black Bionacle Tooth Pieces(One for each side with the curve pointing down) instead of the black 3L liftarms..? Has anyone tried this, and will it work for the clearance..? It seemed like it could work... I know that there are stickers that go there, but she doesn't sticker up her models anyways...

All I see changed in the description is this... The set itself was modified from a previous design and as it was built, modified to look and work better. The parts were sourced, purchased, and then assembled to check performance. The outcome exceeded expectations and is quite remarkable. So basically all this guy did was alter the description to to say that he improved some design to look and work better, but still doesn't credit you anywhere...? Wow... That is now like slapping you across the face twice.... Like I said before Jurgen, just be proud that someone felt your design was good enough to profit from..

I know there is absolutely nothing illegal about buying anything to profit from.... What bothers me is the fact that someone who has no affiliation with Josh or Nathanael is already preparing to profit from their hard work... @ David, like I had said earlier, I am sure most people will in fact use other wheel covers or wheels... In fact I am sure we'll be seeing many many modifications to Nathanael's car... After all that is one of the best features about it is the ability to modify and change it...
