So the Rock Crawler is using 3 Medium PF motors...? Must be one for steering and 2 for drive... Thought it would have had the XL motor for drive... I also blew up and enhanced the pics from the vid and it does indeed appear to have 4 wheel steering as well... Also nice to see good use being made of the black toggles once again... Helicopter has new #17 and #18 Yellow panels...

I had commented on this video last week... I think He did an excellent job in recreating a model that hasn't even been released... I see the video already has one dislike...? Why, I couldn't possibly understand... I sense much jealousy in the Lego Community... Either that or it was a megabloks fan...

Even though it has less pieces, I'd have to give the edge to the 8466 purely based on the amount of features that it has including a 5 speed transmission with 4 wheel drive and a slick door opening mechanism... The 8458 set is nice as well and also has IMO a more interesting B-model build and of course Nathanael's Sportscar can be built from it..

I've been harvesting this set since I first seen it... Looks like fantastic a Model.. Hopefully Lego has those panels in stock to sell soon. I haven't seen any pics of the B-Model of the 9397 yet... -

So it is optional to motorize the Tow Truck...? I am not a fan of the overly large battery boxes... I don't think the set is too bad, plus it has black smooth toggle joints I got 4 of these sets scheduled to be delivered tomorrow for only $63.50 each... I just have to hide them from my wife(One of them is one of her many Lego Christmas/Birthday presents)... -
I think having a degree would most certainly help you think outside of the box and more than likely provide you with an advanced outlook on how things should work, but I don't feel it is a necessity for Technic building... I have met quite a few Mechanical Engineers at various shows that were completely overwhelmed by just how a simple drivetrain worked... At Kidsfest in Pittsburgh there was a fellow probably in his 50's who told me that he was an Engineer for the airlines and we must have talked for about an hour about the Technic line of Lego.. When he left the show, he had 3 bags full of Technic sets from the Lego store that they had set up there...

Gallardo Instructions

jorgeopesi, your R8 is fantastic!(I think I already told you in your thread about it)... Just because someone does a model and it becomes somewhat popular doesn't mean that it couldn't be done again in some other form... Tyler Reid is a very very good car builder and he did a Murcielago long before I had even thought about doing one myself... It just happened to work out for me that the new styled updated elements were out and I had a TON of yellow parts, so I decided to try my hand at the same model car, but build it completely different so that it looked close to what I was trying to achieve, but also didn't share anything with Tyler's design... As far as this Gallardo that I did, I feel that it was a good model, but I am sure there are guys out there that could have done it much better if they chose to do so... My only gripe that I have when people build or rebuild anything that I did is when they claim that they improved it... If the base design wasn't there in the first place, there would be nothing for you to improve... I have a side project that I have been working on for a friend in Spain and it is a Porsche 997 GT3 and I can guarantee that it will not look like one that anyone else has built, because I am not using anyone else's model for a reference. -

I wonder why ToysRus only raises the prices up on certain sets..? In the past I must have bought 20 of the 8070 sets both online and in store for $119.99(with the buy one get one 1/2 off)... I don't recall ever seeing a Lego set price increase almost a year after the set was initially released... ToysRus is also due for another buy 2 get one 90% off, which is just about getting one for free... Everyone needs to keep their eyes peeled for that one...
-
You are 100% correct... They did raise the price of the 8070 $12... What is really odd is that online you are limited to ONE 8070 set, but you can buy 2 of the 8110 Unimogs(which have always been $10 overpriced) or 8043 Excavator... I was at ToyRus yesterday and they didn't have any of the new sets, but the buy one get one free sale was running and there were no limits on how many of any set that you could buy... And the 8070 set was still $119.99... Funny though, yesterday it said on the ToysRus website that the sale is online only...

I had the exact same thing happen several times at Brickworld 2010 during public hours, kids would come running and parents would pull them away and say "we didn't come here for that, or that's not Lego"... There were also a few builders who had displays there that were real jerks and made very rude comments... Even though I only build in technic, I still respect and love all themes of Lego building... I just think that Technic is misunderstood and possibly a little intimidating, but what many builders fail to accept is that Technic is really a Keystone of the majority of all building... I am looking forward to doing another Kidsfest next year, because I really got quite a bit of one on one interaction with hundreds and hundreds of kids and parents over the entire weekend and I enjoyed it much more than doing actual fan made Lego events...

I would love to attend one of the major Lego events over in your end of the world... Technic in the states is really not appreciated at all... It is a little frustrating when you view videos and photo albums from events here in the states and the author of the video or photos doesn't even bother to take pics or any video of any of the Technic stuff... This happens quite frequently over here...
