If you set it up like this the gear rack only moves sideways and you get Ackermann, too.

How about something like this? You can replace the planetary hubs with portal axles but then you'll have to redesign it to fit the same trackwidth. As for the 9.5L shocks, you can replace them with regular ones and position them further up - or just make some custom shocks with springs from your local DIY.

Have you tried braided fishing line? I've been using this (0.35 gauge, should hold up to 26 kg) for my crane tests and it's miles ahead of anything else I've ever tried. It behaves like a regular thread, so it moves smoothly and doesn't damage the parts, but it's far stronger and doesn't twist.

If you want a pendular axle then something like this could work. I used it - two of them, in fact - on my very first rough terrain crane, which weighed over 4 kg. The springs are pivot-mounted, so the actual suspension range is around 5 studs per side. (sorry about the projectile-puke pics and clumsy build - was even further behind in my learning.)

Ah, I see now. The next-to-last picture you posted has the springs vertical, which causes them to sag very easily. Have you got enough room to get them at an angle? Two hard springs at more or less a 30° per each of four wheels should handle 3 kg pretty easily. Otherwise you could resort to a torsion bar or a solution to the same effect, which would likely take up less room. What are your trackbase and track width limits? I've got a few axles that might work.

I don't get this aversion to sets that mix RC and manual. From a builder's perspective they're often more challenging, certainly more than the numbskull one-motor-per-function approach. My beef with 42070 comes from its extortionate price and the marketing lies, since the only off-road/all-terrain thing about it is the wheels. But hey, as the world-renowned Sossidge Latin saying goes, "disgustibus non est disputandum".

Thanks for the heads-up Another reason for not using Control+ in my case is that, to quote Hemingway's epic line from For Whom the Smell Tolls, "my dumbphone sucks."

Interestingly, this setup would take up more space using Control+. Which, by the way, doesn't have power switches or lights (yet), nor can it act as a dumb battery box (yet), so to quote James Joyce's most famous line from Finnegans Quake, "screw Control+ (for now)."

Seems there's enough room to at least get RC drive and steering and maybe motorise the rest.

I think that's just a lucky side effect of the dunce-proof design - haven't seen it exploited on any official sets (or even mocs) yet, but it deserves exploring. You'd be surprised how many afOOls I've seen go into full-blown panic mode because, e.g., "omg i bilt teh dephender n wen i turn wun wheel at teh back teh uther wheel turns teh uther way wut did i do rong ima rite 2 lego 2 complane cuz there moddul duzint wurk!!1!one!!eleven!" Can't expect that kind of numbskull to handle the old clutch gears

Gotta thank all the dunce afols out there for the switch to the red gears 'cause they couldn't mount the DBG ones the right way round I haven't got a whole lot of the DBG ones, unfortunately, so I use them sparingly. Luckily, basic, low-torque drivelines & distribution gearboxes seem to run fine with the red ones but, as you pointed out, when friction becomes an issue the DBG ones are the way to go.

A reputable Italian builder mentioned that he solved the model's friction issues by replacing the red clutch gears with the old DBG ones. That might be worth trying, too. Edit - these gears:

In absolute terms, yes; in relative terms, however, 42099 is by far the most expensive.

Common sense would suggest that you give us at least a basic idea of your setup and why a standard turntable won't work. I get the language barrier, sure, but a couple of pics shouldn't be too much to ask for.

I think @BrickbyBrickTechnic first used this kind of mechanism to control a distribution gearbox - was it on the telescopic excavator? Those old crown gears are a godsend when traditional z24 gears brush - were it even ever so slightly - against other parts. Thank you! That's the other reason behind this model - I was sick of so many afols drooling over the Liebherr as if it were the pinnacle of Lego engineering; I was also thoroughly disappointed when I found myself bored to death a dozen steps into the superstructure and realised it was going to be, for the most part, a big ol' empty box.
