  1. Black with 42066 blue sounds like the most intriguing.
  2. I think he was saying it tongue-in-cheek Trying to figure out what colour combo would work. Replace DBG with black and orange with red or yellow? Or something along the lines of 42066?
  3. Best... word... ever... This one should go straight into the OED! Seconded. I admit I've made a couple of one-motor-(or-more)-per-function Mocs but the experience made me appreciate the fewer-motors-&-more-functions approach even more, especially when space is at a premium.
  4. Brilliantly designed & executed Those third-party tyres look bad-a$$. Have you got a link for them?
  5. You've nailed the looks and the internals look deliciously complex
  6. Shouldn't be too hard to replicate using PF components and a bit of creativity to make up for the unique rotors & panels.
  7. Couldn't have said it better had I tried for aeons. Hats off to you, sir
  8. That's a beauty The internals look even more intricate than the already impressive (to me, at least) 42066.
  9. Liebherr produce military vehicles as well as tank engines. If DFG-VK's argument is that by buying 42113 you inject money into a weapons manufacturer's coffers, the same should apply to ANY company involved in weapon manufacturing, regardless of their core business and the machine TLG chooses to replicate.
  10. Actually it is because they're cherry-picking the easiest battles to win. Arguments such as "Liebherr isn't mostly military whereas Osprey is" are irrelevant - it's like comparing two polished turds to decide which one has the better shine. I didn't make any groundless assumptions - it's an unquestionable fact that northern Italy's been hit way, way harder by Covid19 than any part of the Netherlands. If it's the only set folks are looking forward to then the availability of other sets is, once again, irrelevant.
  11. They'd have a point if they were consistent. Fact is, they're not - they've shot at the most convenient target while blatantly ignoring collaborations with Liebherr, for instance. No, it isn't. Then again, I don't know how things are in your happy haven but here where I live a lot of people are glad to have even trivial, material things to look forward to after months of losing family and friends.
  12. Thanks for sharing this! After seeing the part list I'm even more miffed about the set being pulled Black Friday deals would most likely put it at around €100, which is a steal for the assortment of parts.
  13. Agreed. (Damn, I wish they really were a DBG group - they'd love the set )
  14. Revised this on a tiny screen, so I probably missed something. Not too sure about that "fans, builders and parents" I added towards the end - any thoughts? “LEGO fans urge The LEGO Group to release the LEGO Technic set 42113 Boeing Bell Osprey as planned. LEGO set 42113 Bell Osprey has a Search and Rescue designation and can be valuable in teaching children and adults alike the inner workings of such complex machines. Neither the product as it is depicted nor its box and instructions suggest any military application. This set does not include any weapons, nor does it promote violence. The LEGO Group can release this set as it adheres to the company’s internal guidelines on the type of products they make. LEGO Technic set 42113 adheres to company policy of not creating military sets, the same way LEGO Technic Air Race Jet 42066 was not military and did not break company policy. This will be a great opportunity for LEGO fans to build a licensed complex airplane which is true to its real-life counterpart. The “Rescue Vehicle” designation is enough to satisfy its civilian use in the real world and as a LEGO set, separating it from military use. We as fans, builders and parents want this set. Please release LEGO set 42113 Bell Osprey.” @AirDolphin Thanks for taking the time to do this!
  15. Great review. I also really like the new graphics and music.
  16. I'd love to see DFG-VK's extensive polling on the subject. Oh right, there isn't any.
  17. I wouldn't worry about the formality - or lack thereof - of the text. As long as you clearly state your disappointment with 42113 being pulled, that's more than enough. Plus, if we stick to one template it's going to come across as less organic and therefore less likely to strike a chord within the company.
  18. Well, that sucks enough to pull a golf ball through a garden hose. I was really looking forward to this set as a great donor, what with all that delicious DBG panelling, orange tapered 5x11 panels and the new battery box.
  19. This is a brilliant little model! And the removable body is an impressive feature. I'd like to see it with some third-party tyres just to give it a touch more attitude.
  20. I guess another mod would be to replace the small turntable with a large one, although that would leave a meagre two-stud clearance.
  21. Can't say they've done much better with black over the years.
  22. Yep, the new motors' plugs won't work with the BuWizz unit. In terms of power, speed and space optimisation, it's hard to beat the BuWizz+Power Functions combo.
  23. Dunno - maybe the feedback they got suggested they should make the fake engine more visible at all times during play
  24. I think they placed it where the average user could appreciate the "pistons" going up and down. Remember, it's a kids' toy Incidentally, I had to do the same on one of my pick-up trucks, although I had much worse space constraints (smaller scale and eight motorised functions). Was it realistic? No. Did it make the intended user - a 4-year-old kid - hop around with glee? Yes.
  25. Silly me, I mistook it for the rear axle - I even misread your intro. I need a brain transplant A section is form-locked when the bracing is done using beams (or connector combos) rather than relying only on friction from pins and/or axles. Didumos69 is a master at form-locked builds.
