My personal headcanon for now is that LoSS is a mutated Skull Spider and the true leader of the Skull Army, or the closest thing it has to a leader. Highly intelligent creature. The Summer Villains are examples of the rest of the Skull Army and they are all the 'dumb brute' type. The 'Golden Mask of the Skull Spiders' is needed to control the rest of the Skull Spider horde, and if say a Master steals it then they will be able to control all Skull Spiders (minus LoSS). That is very odd. I am hoping that is a pricing error. This would be nice if they were at a special price instead.

Here's a revamp that came out of excess parts: 8989 Mata Nui! I scrapped the Flame Orange parts from Lewa and while I was staring at them in my bin I thought to make this. I really liked this set, and it was a shame to see his joints crumble to bits. Now I have remade him using CCBS! On his sword you can see a technique that I have fallen in love with- using the pin with stud to attach weapons to pin holes in a way that they are easily removable, and in a way that is easy and works well with the color of most weapons, silver. On this revamp this allows for easy storage of his sword. When I start posting the Toa, I will link higher-res versions of the images.

On my sets, all the masks fit well save a bit of wobbliness on Pohatu's, so I have similar issues. I already expressed issue with how wobbly his 'Rangs are.

Looks really good up front. I wasn't so sure about the back, but it looks really good for the function you have packed in there and it works wonderfully. Quite a good idea using a technic gear rack for the main body.

I like Ekimu being relatively small. While he is small, yes, the Mask of Creation and his shoulder pads (and the gold obviously) give him a regal look. Someone not so well-versed might see him as the Protector King, perhaps (like my brother did). However, I have the idea that Ekimu is pretty much a normal Protector whose only real extraordinary ability is his skill and wisdom that the Mask of Creation has granted him. If so, then it would be an interesting twist to have the Ekimu we know fall to ill fate and have another Protector (perhaps the child from the Fire Village...) become the 'new Ekimu', and perhaps we can see Makuta go from a Protctor-like being and over time becoming corrupted physically as well as mentally.

Looks pretty darn similar to me. While it doesn't have the point at the end, the armor piece is pretty boxy already and it features two ridges. Yup, it looks the same to me. I am betting that he uses Azure or Trans-Light-Blue, and I'm leaning heavily on the latter.

Here's my revamp of the Lord of Skull Spiders! Here's a higher-res version, and a picture of the simple core of the build. This was born out of a Scarox revamp- I wanted to make an actual spider out of him, and I was screwing around with parts when I came upon the idea that two torsos would give you eight spots to put the legs and plenty of connection points to bulk him up. I have gotten some feedback on this that says I should give him longer legs, but I think that he is good as-is on the legs front. I'm pretty proud of this.

Yup! Someone should compare the animation model of Gali versus the model of Ekimu to see if the color used is more like the depiction of Dark Azure or Trans Light Blue. I also agree that the last $5 of the $35 will definitely go into beefing up Ekimu with a gearbox.

I hope that there isn't anyone here who would cry over news, already in-line with what we have already heard, being fake. I would think that Ekimu would be based on Trans-Light-Blue and neither Azure, but I would not be surprised if he is one of those.

I am taking that last part to mean that it is in fact Ekimu in the set. Is he wearing a Protector's Mask, or the Mask of Creation?

CCBS is in its infancy still, and I doubt that a CCBS MBA set would be super great because I think that the most complex technique I have seen in a stock set is the torso for the Furno Jet Machine.

The Protectors are meant to have a similar look to the Masters and be their compainions, after all. He has a similar general silhouette, but I think that he is certainly different enough.

The final retail set doesn't have a third set of gears behind the head, just the two sets in the armpits. You can check the instructions- on page 13 is the final gearbox. I thought you were referring to the issue that they couldn't tilt their heads backwards. -
On the Bionicle buckets, this was brought up a few days ago on the subreddit. I mentioned that they were made from surplus parts and that I doubt Lego would make another surplus parts bucket in the same fashion due to differences in manufacturing. I had the idea that maybe Lego could release a big creative bucket similar to the 'Basic' theme, or release a large set along the lines of the Master Creature Builder set from 2001 with instructions to make a handful of creatures but plenty of excess pieces so you could make whatever your heart desires.

My mods involve bulking up his shoulders and legs. Even though it doesn't do much to the specific region, the bulk does help the overall look. One thing you could try is hanging something from the exposed hole directly above the hips, perhaps a Throwbot foot.

Yes, I just started out with the Protectors because they are small little things. I will also later on be posting some Hero Factory mods once I finish showing my Bionicle mods. It will certainly be a while because he requires parts from many different sets. I am planning on putting the gold Skull Spider on him for now.

Yup, the 4-prong gear on Ekimu's back was noticed quite a long time ago. I doubt they would include a detail so specific to Ekimu like that when they don't have a set of him already made. The set will most likely consist of Ekimu with a Protector build and a gear function driving his hammer arm. I believe that in Europe, Bionicle will go on sale Febuary 1st.

"We do not speak of the dark times." I would say that I want a sci-fi theme, but Hero Factory has already covered that.

Yup, it's a shame that people forget so often that the person behind the counter, behind the wheel, etc. is a human being who should be respected and given the benefit of the doubt, not someone with a personal vendetta against you. ESPECIALLY after this holiday season and the crunch time that they experience, people should have patience. But this isn't 100% on the topic of Bionicle.

Ask and you shall receive! I'll also take this opportunity to show a few WIPs: The Protector of Jungle I really wanted to make a more bow-like weapon, so I am using these pieces to frame it. I am struggling to find a stable way to mount said bow on his back. The Bright Green shells are borrowed from my copy of Lewa; I am waiting on a second copy to complete PoJ. The Protector of Fire I have taken some of Rayskull's ideas for a more animation-esque PoF, but I'm keeping my fireswords. The Mask Maker, Ekimu This is my WIP of the Mask Maker himself. He's waiting on quite a few parts but the base is there. These parts include: 'Bionicle' Armor (from 70789), Gearbox (from 70784), 'Royal' Armor (from 70207). I am working on integrating the gearbox into him to drive his hammer and it's going very well.

Yup. At first I put them together in a way that half a module of pin was sticking out each side and that was actually tighter. When I put them in their instruction configuration (with one module of pin sticking out one side) they hold their position ok, but flop around at the slightest touch. I am probably going to find a pin with higher friction (like the new pin/axle pieces in Lewa) to put in them so that they stick better. My initial thoughts on them were that they would have pegs to hold them in place like the beast heads and Cragger's jaw, so that might have helped some.

It's awesome to see a new fan of Bionicle who was introduced via Hero Factory. I hope that you are enjoying the ride so far! On PoE, I am not sure. I think my favorite has to be the PoF because of his chest build, but PoE is my favorite Protector mod so far. Are black hands particularly rare? I have a ton of them. I kind of want to get some of the grey hands from the Parisian Restaurant to go on him.
