  1. Yup, the first thing I thought of when I saw Gali's mask was her appearance from the Mask of Light! That is a good thing, because I adore the looks of the movie masks and I'm glad to see some influences from them. I also think that Pohatu's mask does look like an evolution of the Phantoka Kakama Nuva, but I don't really see that many similarities in Lewa's. Noting the influences of their 08 versions, I also like how Tahu's mask has a bit of the side profile of the Mistika Hau Nuva- with the forward chin and the sloped forehead past the eyebrow ridge.
  2. I think the grey bone pieces work very well for sets that use lighter colors and silver, such as Pohatu. Far less contrast then black bones at least.
  3. I have already bought the complete wave. So far I have bought an extra Gali and Lewa, and I eventually plan to definitely get an extra PoF, PoS, and PoE. I am considering whether or not to grab a second LOSS. I can't afford to get a duplicate copies of every set, but what I have gotten so far has been good for parts.
  4. I am wondering if the Toa did not truly have elemental control before they donned the Golden Masks. I noticed in the first few episodes that the fire in Tahu's board was a dull grey, but now it is glowing bright and fiery. It is also notable that the masks on the map of Okoto changed golden when PoF said that the Toa had 'mastered' their elements. Also, Kopaka was saying 'Wheeee!' at the end.
  5. Yup, it's pretty much the same mechanism. It's a very smart idea, and I am hoping that Basher includes a rubber band like Bolt (which I bet he will).
  6. One of these liftarms and one of these liftarms. While I'm in here, I'm going to go ahead and throw down an idea I had a while ago: Ultrabuild Ultron. The head is what inspired it, because it is obviously inspired by Ultron in a wraparound reference sort of way. I also have an Iron Man to go with him. Of course, they enjoy fighting a lot.
  7. That would be interesting. What kind of part would such a piece be, and how would it be integrated into sets? If anything, to go with Bionicle, there could be a mask that can be used like a stylus.
  8. I imagine that it would be trans-dark-blue to match the Protector's blended mask, as Kopaka and PoI are already using trans-light-blue for theirs. Perhaps, if you want a blended Mask of Fire, you can just take one of the already fully trans-neon-orange ones from the Hero Pack and paint the bottom half a dull gold that matches Lego's color. I am planning on getting two Hero Packs anyway, so I may do this. Looking at the books, I am going to mention my predictions on them: Chapter Book- Up in the air. I am expecting it to be halfway between this and this. Activity Book- Okay, this is the one with the included mask. I am betting it is a trans-dark-blue/pearl-gold Mask of Water; maybe a head to put it on or a similar stand. The activity book itself will be things like mazes and coloring pages, along the lines of this.
  9. Speaking about blended masks, I thought on it today. To have dual-injection the masks need at least two injection points in the mold. I have been looking at the golden masks, and I think that the darker streaks in the plastic you can see are evident of where the other end of the injection is (other than the point around the 'mouth', love how they integrated the mold flash into the designs.) I have been looking at mine and I have compiled a list of where the streaks are: On the books, I really hope that one or two of the blended masks are included. For that price, though, I bet it is just a normal chapter book; stuff is usually only included in the 'larger' publications, like the Minifigure Guides and Sticker Books; not a simple chapter book. (Which I will totally pick up anyway, for SCIENCE.)
  10. Sorry, I was using the price to refer to the size. I am expecting him to be bigger, if not the same size as, Darth Vader. Considering his multiple arms and guessing that he will use a gearbox for LIGHTSABER SWINGING ACTION, His chest might be a bit smaller than Darth Vader's. I was worried about how short the pieces might seem but the digitigrade legs would certainly help that.
  11. Hydraxon is my favorite $20 set, and I can say that this is a perfect CCBS revamp of him. It captures his bulkiness well and the use of primarily gunmetal is a good choice.
  12. That's why you pick something cryptic while maintaining a sense of familiarity due to a general idea that it draws on. Just don't base it on a now 8-year-old anime meme. I just came to a thought today while looking at pictures of the Skull Army sets- could Grevious use the new skeleton-esque bone piece? Some parts of his limbs have a similar aesthetic and I think it could work pretty well if it was recolored in Dark Bley. Using this image of a game model specifically, I think it could work well for his thighs. The only issue I could see is it being too small, considering that this figure will cost $5 more than DV. Edit: Here is the mentioned image, and it was interesting that Mesonak offered the same idea offhandedly in TTV#132 (about 30 minutes in).
  13. I can also affirm. Nearly every socket I have from 2008-2010 is busted completely. That may be my fault, but from the beginning they were fragile. Certainly not a vastly overrated issue because the issue pretty much ruined every purchase I made past the Mahri.
  14. Your theory on the Skull Army sound plausible. Not sure about the 'MoUP corrupted them', but everything else sounds like both their likely backstory and what will become of them (but I doubt we will get actual sets because that would be the same characters immediately after themselves. Yeah, the hammer is quite heavy. He certainly needs two pins worth of friction, and the solution provided is simple and elegant to provide said friction. Tahu and Gali would have benefited from more friction themselves like this.
  15. I haven't checked this thread in a while. The video shows how the function is pretty odd in that it uses gears and the connected axle to illustrate how the arms move in tandem. My hope for it was that the three blade arms would move in tandem while the chain arm moves the opposite direction. I will have to figure out some way to mod mine to do that. In terms of a movie (with the more organic look of the Miramax films versus the set-faithful look of TLR), I have to say that I preferred TLR. I can understand whole artist interpretation thing, but the visual style of movies felt disjointed from the toyline they were trying to support. On the gold clashing, I am okay with it on Tahu (because red and gold go well together) and Kopaka (because it looks reminiscent of a golden fur coat, such as fox). On Onua I switched it out for silver BIONICLE shells because there seemed to be so little of it, and on Ekimu it absolutely shines when covering a trans-light-blue skeleton.
  16. I think it would be pretty interesting if Ekimu was a zombie anyway, just a good zombie. I came in here to tell of an interesting find at Target- Gali and Onua were 15% off. It wasn't a sale, because they had a clearance sticker. I am wondering if this is because they were on the endcaps and the Lego aisle literally has no room for them.
  17. I am hoping that they are just absent because of the prototype-ness of the part, because when I first saw it I feared that they were omitted because they were too fine a detail. I also gave thought that Lego could print them on a flat surface instead of molding them on directly.
  18. If the quality of regular CCBS parts was a 10/10, I would say it was a 7/10. About Megablocks level of quality- it goes together and works, but is pretty rough around the edges.
  19. Speaking about that, I keep thinking that I have seen the parts in silver metallic- than I have to remind myself that it was in a knockoff.
  20. Two things to note: 1- I really doubt any constraction thing on IDEAS could get the necessary votes. 2- Lego has already disallowed Ideas Projects that simply to ask to create a new part. The best route to have a new part like this (which, btw, is a great idea) would be to 3D print it, as Leewan as done before for some other parts of his own design.
  21. On the chest prints, I like the look they are going for (mechanical zombies) as it fits perfectly with the feel the sets are going for. Not going to lie, my first reaction was 'that is so metal/brutal', which I think is awesome. MOVE ALONG MOVE ALONG LIKE I KNOW YA DO!!! is playing in the background of your dreams, I assume?
  22. There are many people who will think the opposite, and that is what matters. If you don't like it, don't buy it. :)
  23. Yes, I came to the realization yesteray that the tip stays roughly at the same angle, just closes because the back end of the linkages moves forward. It looks like it will work quite well. If interesting Technic-based functions like this will become the norm, I have high hopes for non-humanoids in Bionicle.
  24. I think I am going to do a rundown of everything that we do know (this isn't target at you, just wanted to write it out): Head- 4 pieces Right Arm- 5 pieces Left Arm- 3 pieces Right Leg- 7 pieces Left Leg- 8 pieces Stud Ammo- 13 pieces This leaves 62 pieces for the chest and weapons. The following is a rough estimate: Bow- 25 pieces Spear- 3 pieces Chest- 3 pieces Which leaves another whopping 31 pieces for the gearbox, which minus the shoulder balls, gears, and gearbox itself is still 21 pieces, presumably of Technic.
  25. Darn dragon statue, fooling us! Good to hear about the beast foot, I have been wanting to get them for Rocka. It is always good to see more pieces in Spring Yellowish Green anyway, even if it is just swords and bricks. Hello! I doubt we will be seeing the Skull Spiders again, which is a shame. I thought that originally the new limb pieces were going to have a long pin-wide hole like some technic beams, and while I am sad to see that there isn't a similar connection point I like the bone-esque detail the pieces do have. As to the name, I bet it won't be defined; hardly anyone but deep fans knew much about how it's full name is 'Biological Chronicle'. Especially don't think they will call it the same since I doubt they are going to make this take the Giant Spirit Robot route that gave the name its purpose.
