So does anyone here have any good stands that they had made for their figures? I made a stand once for 2015 Lewa, and while it got him in the air it did not really get him in a dynamic pose. It felt very 2D, so does anyone have any good stands that they have made or have seen.

Having not read the second book, this was really cool. I like your representations of these characters, and would love to see someone create the even older protectors, like the Earth protector that had died.

Which Bionicle colours sold the best and why?
MrHerofan replied to Fulcrumfan91's topic in LEGO Action Figures
Well red sells the best because reasons. Now it could depend on what wave is being released, but generally red is the most popular. Why this is so, well nobody really knows. It could just be a more natural thing to be gravitated to red, or it is the most popular color amongst kids. Many factors could be at play here, though even in Power Rangers the red ranger is the most advertised and gets most of the cool gadgets for the year. Same way of how in Bionicle the red/fire toa gets promoted more often, even if in the story they don't get much love. Red just seems to be one of those things that is most popular, there might even be physiological studies as to why. Now as for why brown does not get much love. Well multiple factors could be at play for that. For one it seems that they get less love compared to the rest of the wave, and they don't really pop on the shelf for kids. The color could also be less attractive for kids compared to the other colors. -
Eventually technology will be able to theoretically catch up to getting the same quality as LEGO. Now will it happen in 10 years? More than likely not. But in 50-100 years it could definitely become a competition to LEGO. Imagine if a kid could make something on their computer, and then be able to print it. This would go beyond the building toy, because the kid can now make their own thing. For the foreseeable future, though there is not much to worry about.

Well seeing a good amount of any character on shelves, could very well mean that the case had more of that character. For example Tahu was probably the most produced out of the whole team last year, because typically red sell really well. Maybe they over stocked on Tahu, like Bandai does with Power Rangers.

Yeah to agree with points made above, G1 sets aren't that great in retrospective. They are fragile, and had "monkey" proportions. They were also filled with a lot of gaps, which for building introduces a whole wave of ideas, but in the individual sets they just are not that great. The love for G1 seems to come from nostalgia, because when you look at the original theme in retrospect there were plenty of problems. G2 while not being nearly as fleshed out, does not have many holes in its story. The sets also have a nicer look to them. While they don't seem to robotic, they are much more nice to look at then the G1 sets, which after the ignika build started to look very similar to each other.

At least at the end of all of this, Bionicle will have the ending that it needed. Not ending in a mess like G1 did, but nice and simple. It'll be something that I will look fondly upon remembering the initial black and white photo leak, and the initial rush of Bionicle being back. It is still sad to see the theme not reaching its potential, but at least it got something.

Recently I have been thinking about why Lego is so popular as a brand. It has so many themes and licenses underneath its belt. It lead me to wonder why is the theme so popular? Now many can say that it is because of the "nostalgia" of being a kid, and remembering of more simple times. It could also be because of the licenses that it holds, and what memories they hold for more adult fans. The simplicity could be another aspect that people enjoy, and the amount of imaginative play and experience that it holds for the people. Now these days though, it seems video games are where children attention is going to. Minecraft possibly being the largest of these, think about it though. A parent can buy their child Minecraft for around $23. This would give the child unlimited play, and best of all the parents save money. Why should a parent buy their kid a toy that they will forget about in a week, when the child can create their own world in their computers. It the begs another question. Where is the future of this beloved toy? It seems as though the adult market for these toys is increasing and could potentially dominate the market, taking kids over. Then eventually the adults will start to "go", and that leaves the company in a weird position. Do you see Lego declining in 10, 20, or even 50 years? Hopefully I can get some good responses out of this and just see, what makes the toy so great and where it will go in the future.

So pretty much the general consensus is that G2 is not doing that well. I almost can't blame people for thinking this, with both villain waves being pretty lackluster in comparison to both hero waves. The only real way of seeing constraction survive is through other themes, which really shows how much has happened since G1. I can't help but think that if there was more of a budget in the advertising, or even the show(s), that Bionicle would not be on such a grey area. Almost as if Lego brought the theme back just to make fans of the theme shut up. Although earlier it was mentioned that a Gundam style theme which could be a great way of exposing people to the style of building. On the other hand Bionicle could go the Transformers route and "reboot" its self ever few years to get new fans in and start with a clean slate. It just sucks that Bionicle G2 does not seem to be getting the attention it could be getting to succeed.
-
Now I know that constraction is a thing that many people don't like, but where is it going to be in the future? The original Bionicle line did really well, and there seemed to be quite a following. Then Hero Factory came along and got less attention, but still did pretty well. It did last 4 years. Then comes Bionicle G2, something so many fans have been wanting to see for a long time. It comes out and it starts with a rocky road, but finds a stable ground. Then towards the end of 2015 massive clearances started to happen, most sets were 50% off. 2016 comes and already on Amazon you can see clearances happening, some stores, are not even caring the sets, and if they do there are not a lot of them. So where do you see the future of constraction going to? It seems to be headed on a downwards spiral, and the only real way I see of saving it is through advertising. Just, agh it is just weird to me because system has been going on a huge rise in the past few years, while constraction seems to be going in the opposite direction.

So we are making a big deal out of a maybe? It just seems strange to make a big deal out of this right now. The only way we will know if 2017 will be a full year is at toy fair 2017. So just enjoy what we do have of the line right now.
-
Well I don't see why TLG would even care. If the sets make money, then TLG had done their jobs. Plenty of people are seeing the new film, and the LEGO sets should sell pretty well. Heck, LEGO made Deadpool, and his movie was rated R.

I am in the boat that Bionicle is clearly not LEGO's main priority, and am a little saddened by this fact. So TwistLaw, where did you get the assumption that there would only be one wave in 2017? This is the first I am hearing of this, and it smells of mindless speculation. There is no way of knowing how well Bionicle is doing. We just have to hope that this theme is doing good enough,to either warrant more. But even if 2017 is the last time we see Bionicle, at least it has some closure. It would have been a fun ride, and maybe the next constraction theme will be enjoyable as well.

Personally, Netflix is a great decision on the LEGO group's part. There could have been more advertising for the show, but in March there was Daredevil, Pew-Wee's movie, and House of Cards. It was kind of to be expected, that Bionicle was not going to be promoted heavily. Still, Bionicle getting a show at all is a huge step for the theme. You don't think they would have given the theme a show if they thought it was going to fail, would you?

Oh did any one else notice that when the toa were saying to their creatures, "I'm ready." that Pohatu didn't say anything, like the animation was there, but his words were not. I agree with Umarak's relation with Makuta. It seemed "fuzzy", like the writing team tried two different, but similar things, and contradictions happened. Ekimu did seem weird to me though. Like in the books and animations, he had a form of comedy and logic to him, but here he seems "rude". Like he didn't even mention Narmoto by his name, he just said "You there!".
-
So just because construction is a different building system, it is trash? It's a toy, like all other lego, why people just write it off as being "garbage" because it doesn't look like a Lego brick thing, is beyond me. Least favorite theme is Galidor.

Journey to One was alright. The main thing that bothered me were the awkward pauses between dialogue. Now the show itself was okay, but it really could have used a few more episodes to flesh things out. T Now the largest grip I have with is how the Toa got their new powers. Like Ekimu just made them this new stuff, because........ I understand the masks, but why everything else. Now I know it is because of the toys, but as a story thing it could have used more time. The voices were okay, but really I could have gone with out the whole robotic thing. Overall I thought, it was okay, there were neat ideas, that with a larger show could have been something great.
-
Well the sets still look pretty good. There are ideas behind them that I like, and the execution is alright. I do like seeing the Toa in the background without their masks. Umarak now looks more awkward than he did before, so hopefully he looks better in person.

The voices were pretty nice. The robot feel really gives a nice touch. The protectors, I assumed were organic, so Ekimu having a "normal" voice makes sense. The animation was alright, I'm still getting used to it though. This gave me an old school Bionicle feel, which I really liked.

The 2014 Star Destroyer. It's an iconic ship from the franchise, and the set is really great. I love it.
-
Well like others have said, the beasts look awkwardly posed. Quake really does not look good at all, while the other two look pretty nice. Fire's hand sword things are still awkward, but he seems to be a fun figure. Storm on the other hand has some really nice concept in mind with some okay execution. Ekimu does look good, but I biased in the fact that I don't like the idea of him being a "Toa" character. I'll be getting him of course, but he just isn't that awesome. Umarak also looks pretty awkward in that pose. Hopefully he is more impressive, but unfortunately he is starting to fall flat. Over all these sets feel like the rest of 2016. There is a lot of hype at the beginning and then as we see them more closely they seem more awkward, and just meh.

While yes some of these do look cool, they are just way to overpriced for my tastes. Like who in their right mind would pay more than they should. Ugh, I guess since its Star Wars they can do whatever they want.
-
Gosh the amount of time it would take to sort through LEGO pieces, takes some patience eh? I too have been wanting to rebuild some sets, but when I go in and try to find parts, I end up giving up, because that one piece, never shows up.
-
From Onua's video it seems that the Toa need to improve themselves to the creatures to gain their trust, and reveal the map to the MoCo.

Ugh if that Tie fighter Vs. A-wing set is $100 then it really shows that LEGO can put whatever price tag they want on a set and people would buy it. Like the most it should cost is $50-$60 USD, not $40 more. Although I guess we have to wait until toy fair to see what the prices really are.
