  1. Yeah G2 just to me has better sets on average. Like a few months ago I had decided to rebuild some of my G1 sets and had completely forgotten about how they had gorilla arms. The proportions in the new line are better to me and the color variations in the sets have been really good. Tahu actually looks like he is made out of fire now, like his element is fire, while G1 Tahu didn't really look like fire. The amount of translucent parts has made me really enjoy the toa because they look like they are the element that they should be controlling. As for story the original had plenty of problems looking back on it, even as a kid I realized it, but at least G2 can only fill in its own holes. In the new chapter book it looks like we will finally get to see some backstory for the Kulta. So overall G2 when its over I will see what holes are left and if there are any contradictions. The only problem I have with it is how there are not more episodes of Journey to One.
  2. Its pretty cool that we are finally getting to see some character out of Kulta. Its also nice to actually hear his name. It'll be interesting to see some more backstory on him and how exactly he came under Makutas control. Hopefully in the book we'll also get to see how Umarak gets involved into all of this.
  3. I really like how LEGO is making multiple forms of a corrupted Umarak. Really goes with the whole theme of the MoC corrupting him. This new combination model looks really nice and if I had the extra money I would totally buy him.
  4. Well I had to rewatch JtO because the first time something felt off. I knew that if I rematched it I'd have different opinions and my views would change on the show. After seeing it again I put myself in my 10 year old selfs shoes and came to really enjoy it. The show does have some awkward moments in it, but I'm sure the originals had just as many problems if not more. The art style is okay in my opinion, at first I hated it, but after a while it has grown on me but I still wish it could be better. Overall though it's pretty good for a four episode show with a limited budget. They did what they could and it worked out. The small adventure of the toa searching for their masks did not bother me. Sure it was a little bi much after last year, but I still enjoyed it. Also it seems that this discussion is more for the story thread rather than the sets thread.
  5. I enjoy what G2 has to offer with the sets. In my opinion they are overall better than most of G1's sets. To me the story needs to have better execution behind it. Releasing an encyclopedia with background information would help fill in some plot holes about the skull villains. Although I really do like the ideas behind some of these decisions.
  6. Well LEGO is the largest toy company in the world so while they could go after these clone brands in the long term it would not be worth while. It makes sense too considering leaks of sets and toy fairs give these clone brands a head start so they can release their sets around the same time LEGO releases theirs. Also where ever these sets are being sold the people buying them probably don't want to chuck down a lot of money on the official set for their kid. So they go to the next best thing because they look the same.
  7. I've never really cared either way about what people say. I don't care if a kid says legos because I know what they are talking about and either way they'll probably grow out of the toy within a handful of years. If older people start saying legos or lego or LEGO [blank] I still don't really care. I know what they are talking about and it doesn't bother me.
  8. Some of the chest prints for my Bionicle figures last year had prints that were off by a little bit. It's not much since I didn't notice it until months after buying the sets. The most notable one is on Skull Warrior.
  9. Wow! That torso has a lot more going on in it than I though that it would. its unfortunate that they won't be releasing the instructions for him. Thank you for making those instructions for the community.
  10. While not LEGO when I make something in Minecraft and I have a really cool idea for it I tend to draw with pen and paper roughly what I want what I'm building to look like. So I'd assume that if you have some really cool design in mind then you could draw a sketch that way when you are building you know what you are trying to achieve better. It might make the whole process quicker.
  11. Also if anyone is curious Lego Shop at home has the entire winter wave on sale as well as last years summer sets on sale. Also Umarak and Ekimu are back in stock. The toa are $5 dollars off while the creatures are $2 off.
  12. Well I bought Pohatu 2016 today and I really like him. I never minded the fact that he had multiple shades of brown. I always saw the design as if he had come from some wasteland. A world where its every man for himself and he's just getting by. He's a really fun figure and his staff weapon thingy is really cool to mess with. Seeing as he is the third of my 2016 toa collection he really fits in with Kopaka and Tahu. I really like how he is still a short toa by comparison. His build was straight froward but still different enough that I ended up enjoying it. I can't wait for what the rest of 2016's sets have in store.
  13. Hopefully the interview will be able to shed some light on how the line is doing. Also I hope that they asked questions regarding set design as that should be really fun to hear. Were people from only the Bionicle community sent there or were members from other communities sent as well.
  14. I feel that three years is a pretty long time. Now granted there may not be much happening during those three years but its still not a short amount of time.
  15. As I had mentioned in the past I wouldn't mind if we got a reboot of hero factory. It had a very good premise that I loved, just the actual story line itself was not that good. Also the sets were good for their time, but compared to constraction figures of today they only hold up okay. It'd be nice if they started to introduce more members of the alpha team and rotated their cast frequently. Now I would also like to see some sort of mech style thing happen with constraction. The sets could look cool and the mocs would more than likely be unbelievable. Overall constraction is my favorite series from LEGO so I'll be excited and support whatever comes out in the future for the line.
  16. After Bionicle ends I wouldn't mind seeing something similar to Hero Factory. Now I know the theme is highly disliked, but the general concept of it was very nice to me. The one thing that the theme would need is an emphasis on vehicles. I loved the vehicles of the original bionicle and some of the ones in early Hero Factory so seeing them again would be nice.
  17. It is harder to swallow the fact that G2 is not the most successful thing out there. Constantly there were reports of store not stocking the theme or putting it on deep discounts. Now as a mocor or a fan who is tight on money that is a good thing. Though that also says plenty of stores are not willing to sell the sets at full price. It does suck how little love constraction is getting. While there is still a fanbase out there I feel that the whole build able action figure thing reached its prime many years ago.
  18. There is no real question as to if we will receive sets in 2017. The really question is how much we will receive. One wave or two? I hope we at least see Makuta, and some sort of vehicle. The G1 fan in me though really wants to see Takanuva. I know Ekimu has pretty much taken this role, but to me Takanuva became part of the toa team as much as Tahu or Kopaka. So even if he is shoe horned into the story I'd just immediately buy him up.
  19. See I understand your point of how system shows have proven more successful than constraction ever has, but G2 really has like no advertising. The books and the like only really get promoted by the community. There is nowhere on the website that suggests that there even are books or graphic novels. So while I really understand where you are coming from it just seems like Bionicle a theme that once stood on top is now getting the shortest hand of the stick. Also to that comic from above, if that is how the year ends then that is really disappointing.
  20. Personally a longer show would help keep the characters more memorable I feel. Its really commercials and advertising that I feel is hurting the line. If LEGO promoted Bionicle like they do Nexo Knights or Chima then it would probably be a success. Oh wait its not a system theme so it gets thrown to the curb and gets minimal attention.
  21. Well personally they should have had more episodes on Netflix. The only two toa that we really know their personalities about are Lewa and Pohatu. The rest of the toa we only get bionicle.com descriptions or small glimpses in JtO. In the next two episodes, I find it'd be difficult to expand the characters of Onua, Tahu, Kopaka, Gali, and Ekimu. Hopefully JtO did well enough to warrant more from it. In 2017 I really hope they give the show more episodes.
  22. I also hope we get a third wave of toa. Taking in the best aspects of 2015 and 2016 delivered in one neat package. I also hope we get vehicles of some sort. I really miss vehicles like the Axalara T9. While it is unlikely to see that large of a vehicle it'd be nice to see them again.
  23. If the jaw, and connector pieces on his mask were gold as well then this new Mask Of Control would be really awesome. He reminds me of Broly from Dragon Ball in the sense that he started off slick and ended turning into a huge bulky monster.
  24. Seeing all of these people with the new summer sets makes me so jelly! If I didn't drop $450 on a trumpet this month I'd already be having fun with these sets. The builds from the sets I already have were really fun and these summer sets look even more fun.
  25. I really only pay attention to Bionicle. Now I also know what comes from other themes just not as often. Bionicle's line up this year is really good. It has an identity of its own and I absolutely love the unification gimmick. The sets have really fun build that I haven't experienced in a constraction set in literally years. The sets are just really impressive and while the line is ending next year, I can't wait to see what 2017 will bring for the island of Okoto. If there is one flaw though it would be the fan base. Ever since late March they have adapted a doom and gloom attitude. Recently it has been subsiding so thats really good. Star Wars has always been riddled with overpriced sets and the like, but this year there is nothing really catching my eye. Sure there are some alright sets but for the most part there was nothing eye catching for me this year. Now I've yet to see the Rouge One sets and while there could be cool sets I can't help but feel they will be overpriced af. Oh well thats Lego and Disney for you. City does have some cool sets but I won't end up getting them. Tectonic and its functions have been really catching my eye recently. I'll try to get some of them. In general though I can't help but feel the majority of system sets are overpriced. I mean I can dish some money on a large set if it really interests me, but in general when I see a set I go "That looks cool I want it!" Then I see the price and change my mind. Now money is not the same as it used to be but still that feeling is there.
