Eh G2 has always been planned for a three year run. Now as for how much we'll get for 2017 is still up in the air. Personally while it might suck that the line is ending, I'll end up enjoying what we got and see where constraction goes from here. System Lego is too expensive for me so constraction fills builder in me. After seeing some videos on the summer sets they look really good to me. The trans colors make sense this time around because its almost like they are supposed to be lava or storms and the ground. Also Umarak should be an impressive build especially next to General Grevious. Then Ekimu just looks plain cool. The trans on him was off putting at first but he just keeps on looking better and better.

Does anyone else see the jaw pieces more as beards and not jaws? I was looking at reviews of the sets and wondered why the jaws were made to be so wide open. Then it dawned on me that they could be beards! I know that its far fetched but it is an idea that popped into my mind.

Which is the worst wave of BIONICLE G2?
MrHerofan replied to TwistLaw's topic in LEGO Action Figures
I don't really dislike any of the waves. There is something I usually end up liking about the models that makes me want them. Though out of the four waves we have seen and myself only having two complete, one incomplete and nothing of the other, I still can't really say. To me there is nothing that makes any wave from the line bad or undesirable. I found that I like something from every wave and each set in those waves. There is no real worst wave to me so far. -
The cover of the books have been unoriginal tbh. They just put up a stock image of one of the figures and while it may be cheaper it's just not that creative.

I don't see the secret sixth set that we have heard nothing about until today will be what wraps up the line. Remember the Bionicle reboot was said to have at least three years. We are barely 1.5 years in the lines life. I just can't see LEGO going back on there word unless the line was doing just that bad. Now while the line may not be the best selling line that LEGO has to offer I doubt that its doing that bad. Not everything is going to be a success or sell that great. Just look at Transformers and Power Rangers in most store their selections are not the best but more keep on getting released and with no real end in sight. I just don't really like seeing all of this negativity that has been plaguing the community for the past few months. Like its cool to speculate on the lines future, but just coming back to this whole doom and gloom feel just is not that fun. Now the line is more than likely not doing that great right now, but we do not know for sure it's all based on speculation. Sure the fear is widespread, but if you go into the Power Rangers or Transformers communities it is just as wide spread. Maybe LEGO fans treat the lines differently? I'm not sure but I really don't like all of the negativity. As for what the secret sixth set could be my guess is either Eskimu's air ship or a limited/select retailer edition set of Mask Maker Makuta. They would probably save the larger Makuta for next year.

Well overall the summer wave looks just as good as last years summer wave. Seeing as how I was not a fan of the skull villains last year from photos, but ended up really liking them after getting them, makes me think that I will enjoy this wave just as much. The beasts look alright, and I can get behind the idea of there being armies of these guys than just a couple. While they are lacking in aspects seeing as how they should be fun to mess with and to have in person makes me excited for them. Ekimu looks generic to me. Nothing really stands out for him other than being so clear. Which I bet looks absolutely stunning in person. I can't wait to get him and just be mesmerized at how clear he is. The only thing holding me back from Umarak is the neck and head region. I wish they could have designed the neck differently and his head looks awkward in comparison to the rest of his body. The horns could have had a better transition from the head and LEGO could have recolored that piece in gold. The figure as a whole would have looked better.

Well I recently got Tahu, Ikir and Kopaka Melum Unity set. I loved building the sets and the creatures are fun to mess with. The toa seem too thin to me by themselves, and Kopaka's shoulders bother me. However while the unity modes are cool, I just can't get behind Kopaka's. The shoulder articulation while already hindered becomes even more hindered, and the creatures heads not clicking on the toa's masks just bothers me when moving their heads around.

The G1 Vahi had no upper half though. What you saw is what you got and saying that it looks like a bottom half means nothing. 2015 Tahu's mask looks like he has chubby cheeks, but that doesn't mean the character actually has chubby cheeks. In the same way that G1 Vahi looked like a bottom half of a mask does not mean it actually a bottom half. It is clearly a nod to older fans of the original series, to remind us a bit of the older series. In the same way that Transformers or Power Rangers share names and even have nods to past iterations of themselves. While yes the story does say that the Toa are timeless heroes, you could say that Mona Lisa is a timeless painting. Their origins are not known and they suffer from amnesia, does not mean that there is an immediate connection. It is just a simple nod yet again from the original series, with similar execution. To say that there is a connection to me makes no sense when you start to consider ALL of the evidence. Though I am sure that this discussion will continue long after G2 ends next year on whether or not there is a connection.
-
So if the combined mask is called the Vahi and the top half is the Mask of Time, does that mean the lower half of the mask is also a Mask of Time, or does it have another power? Either way I am excited to see if we get this piece and if it will play a larger role in the story.
-
A connection does seem plausible, but at the same time just because something shares a name doesn't mean its the old G1 mask. Thats like saying all of the Transformers universes and continuities are connected because they all have an all spark. I am not completely ruling out the possibility of a connection the name Vahi is likely an easter egg to fans. Though I really do hope we get this mask in a set next year.
-
I got Umarak last week, and he is an alright set. I like the way he moves, but his arrow hinders his possibility on my shelves so I can't get a good pose out of him. The mask of control looks okay its just not as impressive as The Mask of Creation was. Overall though I don't know if I want the other sets. The combination gimmick seems cool, but considering how scarce the sets are and need money for other hobbies, the hunt just doesn't seem worth it. The creatures as individual sets do not seem that cool to me unless they have a toa to combine to. Its unfortunate of how most of these sets seem incomplete unless you buy another to combine them with and have a complete looking figure.

Yes my interests are waning largely in part due to the amount of negativity in the community recently. It needs to die down and yes it was ironic that I contributed further into the problem, I even mentioned it in the post. This whole doom and gloom feel of Bionicle has really effected the enjoyment of the line in general. Now people like Twistlaw can say that I am weak for having my opinions influenced, but when the a huge chunk of the community is "doom and gloom" its hard to not get affected a bit. I know that this is really ironic as I am contributing even further to the problem, so hopefully from here on the community won't be so damn "doom and gloom".

With the recent negativity about how Bionicle is doing, the Netflix show, and how 2017 will be, there is no fun in coming onto the Bionicle forums. While yes the series has problems this whole "doom and gloom" feeling from the community just is not fun. It's one thing to have a small discussion about how the line is doing and facing its reality. Then it is another thing to go in and continuously be n"doom and gloom" about a toy line. Its pretty much beating a dead horse at this point, that will be beaten even further this summer and the coming months to follow.

I don't have any sets, with life in general and then the recent negativity that has been surrounding the community recently has made me lose some interest. I want to get the sets, but my interest has certainly decreased. Perhaps taking some time away from the community for a while could be a good thing. That way I at least get some joy from thinking about Bionicle not just negativity.

So many thoughts coming out of one two minute trailer. Thats what Star Wars is today. If your enjoyment of a movie could be persuaded by what gender the lead role is you should rethink why you like Star Wars. On the topic at hand I would buy up these sets, the tank and AT-AT. I'm just really excited to see where this film goes.

Loved the trailer, and there certainly are some great sets that could come out of all this. The new stormtroopers look good and that tank better make it as a set. It just looks to good for TLG to not make it.

Original Bionicle vs CCBS discussion
MrHerofan replied to MakutaOfWar's topic in LEGO Action Figures
I still stand that G2 in general looks better than G1. While the backs might look "empty" the new pieces introduce ways to combat that look. G1 Bionicle had so many gaps in the parts, and while they were there for building purposes, the end product did not look that good. The Ignika build featured 'gorilla" arms, and while there might have been a few good sets, they were outliers compared to the rest of the line. G2 has kept this consistency with its figures by having similar proportions and having the end product look better. In my personal opinion G2 looks better than G1. G1 gave off that mechanical look while G2 is more like Gundam by having solid limbs, not over done with pistons. -
To me weapons are weapons. In a fictional universe it is nice for characters to have unique weapons, but what really makes them memorable are the way they look. If you think back to someone like Gresh, his shield, air blade things were cool, but you'd more than likely remember his mask, and the way he looked. Think of characters like Daredevil or Punisher, you don't remember their weapons as much as they look. So to me pieces for the build, and look of a wave of sets should take priority to weapons. So as I was seeing Google search trends on google.com/trends, seeing the comparison of Bionicle to Ninjago to Hero factory blew me away. The highest point of G2 is not close to the highest point of HF. Ninjago just triumphs over both of the themes. While it is tiresome seeing all of the doom and gloom posts about Bionicle's future and this is contributing to the problem, it is something to look at. G2 just is not doing that well right now, even with a Netflix show and such. Guess we just have to see what we get and then move on to the next thing.

Original Bionicle vs CCBS discussion
MrHerofan replied to MakutaOfWar's topic in LEGO Action Figures
Well this is LEGO, so not seeing many new pieces every year is not something out of the ordinary. One of the reasons LEGO almost went bankrupt way back when was because they had made to many specialized molds. They were losing money on making molds that they would only use once. So seeing the current Bionicle not having as many as those types of parts is really nice. It shows on how much more creative you can be, with pretty much the same types of pieces. Introducing a handful of new pieces each year introduces new ways of doing things, as well as expanding into the unknown. Though on the topic at hand, I prefer the look of G2 better. They look more complete and have less gaps in them. By this I mean in the original system the pieces had many holes and while at the time they were fine, looking back most sets are not that great. It's the great thing about CCBS, that allows for functionality and display value without many if any mods. -
That was really cool. Makes me really want the new sets now.

Well do we really have that much data on other themes? Like other than what sold best for the year in terms of sets or themes. If Bionicle did not make it into the top 5 best Lego Themes so what? There are many themes that TLG produces. There are really two sides to the argument about the end, one which says it got its own show on Netflix, and the other stating that sales, advertising, and distribution are bad. We really should just wait and see what will come into the future. Instead of having a discussion that will only go on circles for the rest of Bionicle's run. This really reminds me of a less extreme version of the Hero Factory vs. Bionicle arguments. Honestly though we should just instead enjoy what we are getting whether it would be from the toys or the media.
-
When I die, I'm sure that before that I would have sold stuff off so that my family could prepare, but as for what would be left. Maybe have it be passed on, or just have a note telling them to sell it.
-
At the very least I would like to see Takanuva in 2017. I know it might not happen, but really if Bionicle is going to go out, it might as well go out with something good. Though Bionicle 2015 sets seemed to be too plentiful so seeing stores not really stoking 2016 sets as much is not to much of a surprise. It is unfortunate because Bionicle is a theme that could succeed, but it seems as though Lego is putting minimal effort to make it do so. In 2017 I hope to see the origins of the Toa and with that Takanuva, Makuta and the mask of ultimate power. I don't really care what the small sets would be at that point.
