Eslandola's Escorted Trade Runs, Jan 617 - Feb 617
Phadeout replied to Legostone's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
I will be going with my usual plan of the Ultimo Fenix going in the Dragon's Teeth run and El Heraldo de Oro in the Double Duty. Sadly that is it for ships for me at the moment, I must get building! -

Your first set costing over $100
Phadeout replied to BubbaFit45531's topic in General LEGO Discussion
10246 Detective's Office the day it came out - built over two nights when the kids were in bed, within two months I had bought Pet Shop, Palace Cinema and Parisian Restaurant - damn you TLG!!! I now spend far less on sets and more on BL but I do still get sets I really like, but rarely ones with that big a price tag as they are bigger and space is a premium. -
[ESL] A Hall for the Colonial Council
Phadeout replied to Capt Wolf's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Oh that is nice! My US history isn't really all that developed so I've had to go and look up the source material and I can now see that is a fantastic rendition, well done. Nice to see Alejandro in there with so many of the other sigfigs - I will have to get him out and about on the Brick Seas again very soon. edit: Actually that wasn't enough of a comment - these recent builds are really moving the focus in BoBS for the better, there have been so many really high quality builds springing up - I think we may have started to leave behind the large volume of small builds and move into different territory and this looks to be a really positive thing, I would much rather see a few builds like this from each faction a month than loads of quick and easy ones designed for maximum economic in game benefit. :)- 18 replies

Eslandola's Colonial Council - Discussion
Phadeout replied to Garmadon's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
@Capt Wolf essentially as you stated, what harm does it cause to be PM and a councillor. Got to be a perk to doing all the actual work! And we don't want to put somebody off from the role due to less personal representation than a regional council member for example. -
Eslandola's Colonial Council - Discussion
Phadeout replied to Garmadon's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Wow, That was a lot of reading - I really like what you are hammering out here. I will try and keep my input short and sweet. Please no more than 3 elections a year, it'll become a nuisance quickly if it is more than that. PM role should be possible in addition not instead of another seat - as per reasons given above. I'd love to hear what is going to happen in Nellisa too - what's up E? As somebody who doesn't want a seat on the council at least not for now I feel I have a bit less invested but I would say that I would never want to base political decisions on build offs between us in the faction - the ability to own bazillions of bricks and have dozens of hours to build every week shouldn't mean you can dictate policy to everyone else imho. Enjoy your weekends folks. btw I think the concept of adding intrigue into this is fun but let's remember we are still one faction and there are other colour flags sailing out on the Brick Seas.. -

Lovely build, so what if it isn't all new to us it is nice to see it fully presented to allow us to appreciate it fully. The story is good too and I like the links to similar threads showing the developing situation, really helps sell the setting properly.

[COR - Oct FB3] Salt Pork Factory, Mooreton Bay
Phadeout replied to Ayrlego's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
It looked good enough from the outside and then you see what you've done inside! Fantastic, the hands rpresenting the cuts are superb but there are too many things to list which are great. I think you have absolutely nailed this. I also should add that the time you take with the description adds so much to the enjoyment of the build, it is something as a community we should (and I think do) value greatly.- 12 replies

As you command Capt Wolf, I've put one up and just noticed that I'm a brick off with the alignment on the left side. Oh well it's already scrapped so I will have to live with it!

2016-10-15_10-40-37 by Phadeout, on Flickr As Nacho and Roldolfo walked down one of the many newer upmarket streets they pass a gentlemen of Oleon leaving one of the houses, suddenly our heroes feel the atmosphere change, as the gentleman in question walks towards a groups of Eslandian citizens who seem agitated as well as inebriated. 2016-10-15_10-40-16 by Phadeout, on Flickr "You're not welcome here, get back where you come from you megabloking megabloker" "Pardon! I am but a humble man here to trade with you. Whatever these rumours of war we are all civilised men, there is no need to argue when it is a beautiful day and there is money to be made!" "Are you making fun of us - there is more to Eslandola than money you know!" "But yes, of course I meant no disrespect, kindly allow me past and I will trouble you no more" "Not so fast - maybe you need to learn a little lesson about life in the New World" Nacho stepped forward and raises his voice over the growing murmurs of aggression. 2016-10-15_10-40-00 by Phadeout, on Flickr "I know you - you run the barrel making business near the docks, surely you know that the goods sent in those barrels as often as not ends up in Oleon hands, after we have traded with them as close friends. Why would you try to bite the hand that feeds you?" "But we are going to war with them! They are our enemy now." "We will not be going to war with Oleon, the madman with the crown in Terreli will not be allowed to wage this fool's war, the great houses and Trade Companies will not allow it, and we will not allow it, here in the new world - we will refuse his rule. Our mayor has already set wheels in motion that will protect us from Fernando and his madness - a new enlightened age beckons, a republic of Nellisa is dawning. There is no benefit to war with Oleon whilst the Mardier wolves circle and the Fontonajo understand this, they will bring a new level of prosperity to us and shield us from harm." 2016-10-15_10-39-05 by Phadeout, on Flickr "Trust me, this is the future, the New World is ours to shape, leave the past behind in the hands of the small-minded and weak, long live the republic!! Love the colour choices, the roof looks great, as Silent Wolf said the wall may be a touch high but it does work. To the story, you know I'm in favour of this brave, new Nelissa. In a week where Bob Dylan gets noble prize for literature, in the Brick Seas the times really are a changing ;)

[COR - Oct FB2] Raising the Colonial Militia
Phadeout replied to Ayrlego's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
It does look the guy on the left has a (very nicely done) palm tree growing out of his head, but it is a lovely small build, like Bregir I'm curious about the cannon but on my phone everything is too small to make out the exact pieces. It is surprising how much character is in such a simple concept, I really like it, especially the roof with its rogue tile, such a simple but effective trick.- 12 replies

[ESL] Governor's Palace, Nellisa
Phadeout replied to Elostirion's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
"Roman Esteban Fontonajo - you have my sword!" E - this is awesome, and thank you Bregir for the input too. I absolutely love what you have done with both the build and the story. This is the way this project/game should be, fantastic builds, excellent story-telling enlivening an already detailed and rich in character world. I can only look forward to the developments as they fall out, I think we are seeing a new high point in BoBS at the moment, the threads interweaving with each other through the factions shows the commitment there is as a community and this build/story is a perfect example of that. Well done.- 18 replies

MARDIER COLONY La Isla de Medio
Phadeout replied to SkaForHire's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Well Ska if you want a well thought-out and balanced view from the perspective of a non-leadership member of Eslandola I think that sums it up very well indeed. Some communication issues at our end apparently but please acknowledge the point that the timing of these incidents, the availability of 11 at the outset of the island selection process etc makes this hard for some of our faction. Also there is one point I'm not sure I understand - did you just forget to claim the island initially, or was this always part of the results process? Obviously you had plans for 11 but when you realised you had forgotten to reserve it from Ayrlego and then Oleon why didn't you just let the choosing process run its course and then choose an unpicked island for the Mardier stronghold? Or if not that then release the map with the settlements on it at the same time as your announcement that Mardier had claimed the island. In either situation we wouldn't be here now. By the way remember that over three quarter of the builders who contributed to KMA are not leadership and would have had no way of knowing all the secret plans, but if Kai and Garmadon were supposed to rein us in if we got carried away and planned to do something with 11 then why not just tell us all straight out, avoid any possible issues like this.. -

Phadeout replied to Kolonialbeamter's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
I've tried LDD a couple of times now and just can't get into it, I'll admit at times I feel it can be a little unfair in terms of having "all the toys" as it were but then I remind myself you need real imagination to work this through, and a boatload of patience and skill Hats off to you sir. Edit: I should read the previous comments more closely sometimes, seems like I'm just copying Capt Wolf!- 12 replies

The largest ship by far owned by the de la Calle & Quintero group is El Heraldo de Oro, a large trader commissioned to make supply runs between Nova Terreli. the main base of the group and the new settlements in the Prio Seas, especially on the Autumn Isle, recently renamed as Otoño by Eslandola. I'm certainly very jealous of that. I have found trees a real challenge and you have knocked it out of the park here. The roof is lovely too, there are many areas worth a comment but the trees are standout. GJ.
