  1. It's fun to work together anyway, I'd strongly recommend helping him anyway if possible even if you think he could handle it. I have a nearly five year old who can do 6-12sets but only if the actual size of build is limited to about c.120 pieces. He has a good attitude and would build everyday if he had time but he does get distracted obviously and he is a lot younger than seven - I've seen how much he has improved in a year but only I think because I was there at the start to stop him getting frustrated. Your mileage may vary, children are all so different. Good luck.
  2. Inspiring stuff, the more I see the more I want to sign up.
  3. Lefty, play golf and guitar right handed though, golf badly ;)
  4. Was very pleased with my Big Bang Theory set, kids were put to bed early...
  5. Best New Theme - Scooby Doo Best New Set - Detective's Office (If I had it I think I might say the temple of Airjitsu) Best Minifig - Fly Monster Worst New Theme - Jurassic World Worst set - all of Minecraft or the 60081 Pickup Tow truck for being so massively redundant. Worst New Minifigure - Female Cyclops.
  6. Always have to swoosh something at least once, as well as fire any guns/missiles/etc at a suitable target, repeating as many times as necessary to hit it...
  7. 7346 seaside house - it was the first set I bought without any input from my son because I was going to get it whatever he thought. Made me realise it was going to be a hobby for me as well as him.
  8. I have to say that when I see the creations you come up with it is a bit double-edged. They are so good they really inspire but at the same time they are so good that I look at the pile of Bricks in front of me and despair! Thanks for showing us this, it is truly fantastic and as others mentioned I knew it was one of yours before I saw the name, your style is significantly more mature and classic than anything I've seen elsewhere. Awesome.
  9. I actually moaned about it to customer service mostly because I really wanted the ultrasonic set, they gave me a proper reply stating that it was just poor sales responsible, Europe hadn't really gone for the theme at all compared to the US. Shame, although I did get a load of sets for half price in my local Lego store - discounts and VIP points!
  10. Well I've just had a complete rethink about this theme. I hadn't planned on getting a single set but now.... There are some really fun looking sets here, hoping my eldest likes them, I can imagine this being the theme that gets him to diversify away fromStar Wars.He will be getting the king's mech whether he likes it or not...
  11. I'm currently ploughing through Margaret Atwood's Year of the Flood, having loved Oryx and Crake which I read last week. Having a bit of a dystopia binge at the moment. Highly recommended by the way.
  12. Mine is basically the same now and then - librarian and tutor combined. Probably wouldn't have had quite so many books to look after but they would have been a lot more valuable each!
  13. Hi, I've been lurking here for the last couple of weeks enjoying the awe-inspiring MOCs and catching up on all the info being shared and thought I'd should finally get myself involved and create an account. I suppose my Lego experiences aren't unique - enjoyed its a child in the mid-80s most of it is long gone - had children, the oldest of whom is very into Lego and Star Wars (I'm so proud!) and I've been able to encourage this interest whilst adding to his collection with things for me. His mum caught on quickly and I have to be a bit more responsible than I'd like but that hasn't stopped a nearly 5 year old having the Detective's Office and the Parisian restaurant and for some reason he is also bricklinking a Green Grocer (kids these days...). Hopefully I'll be able to add some of my own MOCs over time, thanks in advance for putting up with me :)
