4x4 Truck with Plow
Buddy010702 replied to nnamhcab's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
The tires are from the new Claas. And to contribute to the actual discussion, I've never been a huge fan of gearboxes, but there are other mechanisms to have different speeds, not sure if they would help you, but you could look, and see if you like them. I find the friction to be the major issue with gearboxes. That's just my 2 cents though... -
[HELP] Adders
Buddy010702 replied to Buddy010702's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Thanks for showing me it! I build it and It works exactly how I wanted it to! I don't think I need any more speeds, but thank you for the suggestions. I wanted to keep this project a secret until I could make sure It worked, so I will say it in the spoiler below. I have too many projects that don't really make their full way, due to lack of motors and such... So I'm trying to cut down on that (although I already posted a few earlier versions on my Instagram...) Anyway, I have plenty of room, so I want to add a few more functions. Yeah, not sure if I will try to build a adder like above ever again, especially when after I found out after testing it that I had bent some of the teeth in a bevel gear in the diff. I guess I hadn't realised how powerful XL motors could be, especially when I had only had one previously, I ordered two more for this model... -
[HELP] Adders
Buddy010702 replied to Buddy010702's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
No, I haven't considered one like that, but that's basically what I want, thanks! From what I see, one XL motor engages first, then the other? And that speeds it up? Am I correct? -
[HELP] Adders
Buddy010702 replied to Buddy010702's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Thank you, I do have Sariel's book and it is very useful, I guess I will sign up for bricksafe, hopefully that will work :/ From what I've read a Subtractor and Adder are similar, but have slight differences. The issue I have is using Unimog deulies for drive with out being able to drive the front drive. Guess time for another rebuild... -
So I'm trying to build a Adder for my new creation, because I need a lot of torque and I would like quite a bit of speed. I have tried to build one, and need some help. So can people help me? Is this the right setup? Should I use knob wheels or the grey gears in there? When I tried to drive it it the XL motors are fine, but the L motors seem to be jumping out of the bevel gears in the differential (see picture 2) anyone know how to fix this? Edit: Knob wheels don't seem to help, I rebuilt a tiny bit, but, when engaging L motors, it doesn't seem to help... Would the motors be too weak? Any tips? Thanks in Advance

Don't be discouraged, I've had days of progress that have needed to be rebuilt. Heck, I have rebuilt a Moc, and I am still not satisfied, I want to rebuild it. Try to take everyone's suggestions into the new rebuild. Maybe try to build in modules? Take the bucket and LA's and try to test it before you put it into the MOC. I've done this plenty of times and this seems to help me. Good Luck with your rebuild!

Small ATV
Buddy010702 replied to Asad's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
For a first Technic build, it's really good! It's cute, and I really don't mind the small amount of green in the middle. Good Job! Edit: My creations were too ambitious and therefor turned out terrible the first few runs, starting out small definitely helps! -
Technic 2017 Set Discussion
Buddy010702 replied to CM4Sci's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I hope so! But this list looks decently promising, can't wait for the flagships! -
What Mission E, mine? I was at that point at one time too, although I've build up my collection since that time. My collection is relatively new (nothing older than 2000, most above 2010) but just buy the sets that interest you, and you will slowly build up your collection. Brick built sets arn't bad either, my Mission E used quite a few bionicle teeth from the set 7978, a Atlantis set! But you also need to realise what your speciality is, some people like super cars, if your one of those people, the Porsche set would help, but if your more construction equipment, buy more of those sets. Don't fully base your Lego buys off your budget, sometime waiting to buy a certain set is better! These are things I've learned, I hope this would help you!

@Jim, I notice that I already didn't make the list (which I'm disappointed about... Oh, well!) is it at all possible to get my score back? I would like some feedback to improve upon next time, would that be do able? And was mine considered when making the list? (the name of the entry is the Mission E Porsche) Thanks (sorry for all the questions..)

[PORSCHE] Mission E
Buddy010702 replied to Buddy010702's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I agree, the white would be good, but sadly I ran out of white flex axles and had to choose red, I'm gonna buy the parts in white to 'complete' it after, but I can't really order them now... Thanks for the feedback! -
This is my entry to the Porsche contest: The Porsche Mission E concept car! This model features: openable doors, hood, and trunk, the arc of light in the rear, steering controlled by the steering wheel, full independent suspension, four speed sequential gearbox, and the option to choose forward, neutral or reverse. Sadly I couldn't motorise it because I had no motors able to be used... This model also has no fake engine, because in real life the Mission E has no piston engine, it's all run by electric motors! Many other things have been left out too, like mirrors, just to keep the realism. Anyway, I put a lot of thought into it, and hope that you like it! Questions and comments are welcome!

Technic General Discussion
Buddy010702 replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I'm from Canada, I usually buy them from a local Toys R Us and the Lego website, and occasionally a local hobby shop. I've heard that bricklink and official Lego stores are great too. There are few options for you (at least that I know of) -
Thank you, I have put a lot of effort into this. I do admit though, the side does look poor, and I am trying to get that to look nicer. Do you (or anyone else) have suggestions to improve it? I will keep trying to make it better though, and won't be touching the front or back anymore (unless needed)
-
NEW UPDATE: Almost done, I have tweaked most of the problems, (only like one or two left) and just need to take good quality photos for the contest. All I need to do is create a control scheme for shifting gears (don't have the time for creating paddles, so going to have to create a simpler scheme) and possibly fix the seats (size), but not sure if I will... Here are the photos: Sorry for blur on the second photo Any suggestions (or criticisms) are welcome!

*UPDATE* Here are some new photos: (Photo quality ain't great, but it's quick to update) Now comes the fun part... Putting in the gearbox... But do you guys think that the red is bad? I can't change the fenders, but should I take the red on the doors out, I will add a 'sticker' in the door panels to make it flow more, but what are your opinions? Do the front lights look good? Does it look good in general? Sadly I can't make the fenders white, I can't make an order in time of the deadline of the contest, but next time I buy a set, I will buy the parts to make this fully white, but for now, red will need to do. There are some other problems (like the sloping roof) but I will get to those later... Give me all opinions you have! Good or bad! Thanks!
-
Aww, But that's the fun part! Your just going about your day when you hear a THUD. Then You have to spend the day cleaning up! (Although I've never dealt with it, so I guess it could be a bigger problem then I imagine!)
