  1. It definately made me one. Soon this shall be displayed...wherever I can get it to fit...
  2. I normally don't. I was just in such a rush when I got it, I couldn't notice trivial details like tape.
  3. Hi there! I'm sure most of you have seen pictures of these already, but I thought I'd throw in my two pennies anyway. The cover: Very nice, with a very tantalizing view of Luke. Luke comes out like so. The one irritating thing I found about this book was that it had a cardboard thing inside to hold Luke in, but it was just about as thick as the pages themselves. Well, on to the fig. Absolutely amazing. My chief worry when I bought this was that it was the same bad quality as the magnet packs. Fortunately, this isn't so- he's the same as any other fig. A sample of the pages: And other various LSW-compilation goodness. Another neat thing were the chapter pics: I think these were great pics, really adding a little decoration to the book. Now, onto the really neat stuff: Chapter 4: Beyond the Brick. As you all have probably all seen, the prelim page features some stuff we haven't seen: I thought this was a good idea for a set. It could've used some more work, but the X-wing is amazing! Ugh. If only we had this part. There's a very slight chance it'll come in the battle pack, but I'm not very hopeful. Preliminary of Darth Maul's ship. Clay models of Kit, Wookiee, and Watto. Funny, the head on the big model looks smaller. (proportionally) Think I prefer the molded one, thank you very much. George Lucas! And then we have the next two pages of Ch. 4: "Now, where the real money in the movie is made. Merchandising!" -Yogurt Then a neat page with various MOCs. Very cool. Overall thoughts: I originally thought I was going to buy it just for the Luke 'fig, but the book proved surprisingly neat. Not only was it well made, it also had some stuff I'd never seen before. (prototypes ) It's also a good deal- $22. When I first heard about it, I thought: "An exclusive fig? Oh great, $50." Fortunately, it's cheap enough where even if you don't want the fig, it's worth it by itself. More pics on my Flickr.
  4. Uh oh. Hope you don't mind if I feed it through a translator? This'll make it easier for those of us who don't speak Dutch.
  5. Excellent. You put in some really great techniques into this! Go microscale!
  6. It's not just for the box. It's also for the work the employees do sorting and putting together your model. It's all done by hand. They gave us a little video clip at Brickcon showing the process. It was pretty neat. I've never used LEGO Factory, so I have no idea how much better it'll be.
  7. Curses. That's really to bad that he's not in there. There goes the only reason to buy the set. Exactly. There is nothing new in this set. It's only advantage is being a small set. If you don't want to talk about Garindan, don't. No need to insult the people who were hoping to see him.
  8. Meh, don't care too much for FPS. I'd prefer something where you can choose between the two. Battlefront has the option, not sure what others do.
  9. Woah. Those were great. Some minor character gripes: Madame Jocasta Nu seemed too soft-spoken. From what I've read, she's more of a comply-or-be-belted type of librarian. The Magnaguards are way too timid. They're supposed to be the elite, taking orders from GG himself. And here, one of them is taking guard duty orders from a standard battle droid! On top of that, it didn't even talk- it kind of beeped and buzzed, like they have no voice. In the Ep. III book, they're elite, dangerous droids that care little about standard droids, and have very high programming, walking with a gait like that of a human's and with a voice that is much more than the pre-programmed "Roger-rogers" of BDs.
  10. I was there, and I didn't see anything new Star Wars related. Then again, I wasn't there SUnday...
  11. I saw the hat in my LSW Visual Dictionary. It's so neat. A real shame it wasn't made. Here's a pic in case anyone wants to see the full page. Link I'll take better pictures later so I can review the book.
  12. Don't worry, they're not pure white.
  13. OK, finally got home after a 6 hour drive and I've uploaded some pics (Used up my MB quota, too- I'm gonna need to get Pro for the rest of the pics) During the open ceremonies on the first day of Brickcon, someone turned on the projector- talking about Toy Story, the figs, the arms, and why Disney wanted the heads as they are, etc. etc. Then, an announcement: New S@H exclusive! As we leaned forward in our seats, Steve Witt (the sneaky scoundrel) snuck up to the front and held it up- and it was glorious. Link
  14. Your wish is my command. Wait... dang it. Stupid computer I'm on isn't working. Looks like you might have to keep waiting.
  15. Note to self: Bring a backpack. A big one. I'll be there Friday- I might miss a bit on Sunday, but I intend to see as much as I can.
  16. Huh? They were trained by Mandos. The article itself seems cheap, since it only quotes two groups in Karen Traviss' books, the Airborne troopers and Omega squad. Sorry, but it's Wikipedia. It doesn't look legitimate to me. If this were to happen, I think, a more obvious explanation would be that it was being ground out of the new clones trained on Coruscant by the instructors.
  17. All right, I'll definitely be going. The only concern is whether or not I can miss a day of school to be there Friday.
  18. Uh oh. Just found out about this. Silly me. I live in Oregon, and although it's only two weeks until the event, I'll see if I can register. One thing that made me pause, however, is what they're requiring for people under 18. Does my parent have to follow me arround the entire time? Also...(opinion only) I only have one 'display-able' MOC that I could bring on short notice- my Mandalorian Basilisk. Is it worth it to bring one dinky little MOC to Brickcon?
  19. A PS3 is definately a valid option. I've been wanting to get one for a while, and now that it's down in price.... I might wait for actual Blu-ray discs to drop in price, as Siegfried said. (Ugh. 'Siegfried' is too hard to type. 'Sinner' works so much better!)
  20. While I dislike the ARC-170, I love how we have two (slightly) different decals for the new helmets. Shame that the visor is printed, though. Only in your mind, my very young apprentice. Honestly? You settled that there wouldn't be a Garindan fig. Everyone else is waiting for better pictures.
  21. And there's the problem. Right now, I'm just fine with my 30-inch T.V. that's deeper than it is wide that I got for $25 at a garage sale. It may not be hi-def, but it works. I don't have anything against blu-ray, but I would've loved to have something that isn't a disk that (while is supposedly less scratch-able) is still prone to all sorts of things. An SD card or like would have been better. Plus, I hate having stacks of VHS that's unusable anywhere except for the ancient VHS player in the living room. I don't want to have to do that again, and the longer the better between transitions, I say. That said, hi-def on a real high-definition screen is really sweet. In other words, I'm saving up to buy a much bigger TV.
  22. I don't use clone brands simply because they don't fit with what I'm building- the color/quality just doesn't blend in. However, I did see a really neat MOC that Dr. Scorpio on Flickr made out of clone brands. I have no idea what it's made out of, but it's very clever, especially the scout trooper. Link I love customizing figs, and while I'm pretty limited to cutting up an official sticker/printing of a sticker from my computer, some people have a real talent of making an incredibly accurate fig. Stores like Brickarms/Brickforge/etc. are all really neat, and I understand that their primary interest is in complementing LEGO figs and accessories. If I could get my hands on some, I'd buy 'em. As for sails and whatnot on pirate ships, I think it's necessary. There's only so much that can be done with LEGO 'rope', and official sails are even worse- they're all either too colorful, too stripey, or too small/big to use on the majority of MOCs we see now. As for MODDIng parts for a MOC, I get hesitant. Sure, there's only so much that can be officially done with a minifig, but that's the challenge of a MOC- finding a way around that obstruction, and using ingenuity to come up with a clever way around it with different parts.
  23. I saw it, and it looked great. Maybe a giant LEGO ad, but then, they all are. If this is THE lego movie, I'm just glad I didn't see any live action.
  24. Dang it, now I'm out of ideas. It's a MIDI-scale Basilisk!
  25. Nah. As far as I know the Death Watch died before the clone wars, when Jaster Mereel was leading the Mandos. But what do I know? All I know of Mandalorians has all gone up in a puff of smoke.
