  1. That would be my guess as well. I suppose we'll see.
  2. CCBS meshes a lot better with System than Bionicle ever did. Frankly, with the number of curved slopes in System these days I think the CCBS shells fit right in. In fact, that's one of the reasons I got into buying Hero Factory in the first place (after basically abandoning constraction for traditional System themes after Bionicle's end). I doubt the skulls can be stacked. You could attach a 3.2 mm bar to the top, but the hole wouldn't allow for stud-to-stud connections.
  3. Considering the SH Ultrabuilds did not do well enough to justify further releases, I don't know how well the "special armor" explanation worked for buyers.
  4. From what I can tell, LOSS uses not one, but TWO of the new gearboxes. Here's my version without his back armor. The gearboxes attach on either side, where the axles are exposed. Here he is with back armor. The part sticking out of the back is a lever, by pulling it he grasps his legs together. Obviously neither is entirely finished since I don't know exactly how the new gearboxes will attach, but it should give you a good idea of his size and how his function works.
  5. The new launchers look great. More compact than I had expected (with the launcher piece itself only occupying a 1x4 space), and looking like they should function decently. In fact, I wonder if there are applications for them other than launchers—they'd work well as a "coin slot" on a large-scale arcade machine!
  6. Looks like a new bandanna piece? That's going to be divisive. All in all I like most of these sets, despite not being a Pirates builder. The sole exception is the Soldier's Fort, which looks fairly flimsy—the Soldier's Outpost looks much better. I love the classic look of the figs (especially the updated Captain Redbeard), and the more diverse Bluecoats (with a more actively-involved female character, and higher-ranking officers with fancy wigs and the like). Hopefully this wave won't be the theme's last hurrah—I think these sets provide a solid foundation for the theme to expand on. No pics of that Skull Island set we saw in prelims?
  7. With the size of the seats, it'd really be impossible for compartments to be included without a new mold or something. They could only exist in the movie itself due to visual trickery (i.e. opening to reveal 1x1 round tiles in the space previously occupied by the cushion itself).
  8. That, or the backs of their bathing suit/shorts stretch down to their heels. And the latter only really works for characters who wear shoes, since the tops of their toes will go unprinted. Pick your poison.
  9. Possibly so that they feel more hollow and skull-like? I like the look it gives, personally.
  10. It's a beaver, from what I've heard. Shame he doesn't appear to have a tail... EDIT: Ack! Remind me to refresh the page before I post next time! Not only did they edit their post, but other people addressed the point I was making several times.
  11. The Skull Spiders have blades for legs and sharp, pointy teeth! 'vv'
  12. "Little spider?" I'd like to see you try to step on a "little spider" that's bigger than your head. You don't need a mask of arachnophobia for a spider that size to be terrifying.
  13. Found another one, which shouldn't need an image (my screenshot tool hasn't worked properly in a while, making it harder to get good screenshots of errors). Standard 3.2mm clips SHOULD be able to clip to the back end of 50859 Motorcycle Frame 6M, but there's no connection point there. This connection is occasionally used to secure motorbikes when they're parked or loaded onto vehicles.
  14. Do you see the ball joint attached to the top of the "wheel" piece? That's what does it—when the missiles rotate past that piece the ends are pushed downward enough to launch. It's quite elegant, really. I haven't ever been as excited about one of Cole's vehicles as I am about this one—its design borders on Sky-Fi.
  15. From my experience, Bricklink is worse. Everything is determined with sellers in mind, and as such I expect this to be ignored, since most sellers aren't going to know what "CCBS" means, and aren't going to want to learn a new way to categorize parts. It's the same reason (well, one of the reasons) as why BrickLink's color system is so flawed. At the very least, I would hope that the new parts introduced in Bionicle will continue to be categorized as "Hero Factory", if only because the parts will be more consistent with that system and you won't have to alternate between both categories when looking at newer parts. But I doubt even that will be the case.
  16. Well, Skylar can be a boy's name too. But I'm pretty sure the fig in those pics has printed curves like most Lego ladies, which is what led me to that conclusion. I'm excited to see what roles she and the other new characters play in next year's story. Maybe we'll see a new character encyclopedia next year, but I'd personally prefer some other type of guidebook we haven't had yet. I guess we'll see.
  17. Then I return to the previous point—you're overthinking it. In the movie world those parts could have come from other sets, and figs like Vitruvius could have as well, or could even be custom figs created or commissioned by The Man Upstairs. Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if President Business was his sigfig.
  18. Personally, that's what turned the movie from "good" to "great" for me. I'm a big fan of Neil Gaiman's work, including The Sandman, and a recurring theme in his work is that myths and stories have power (not just power to inspire, but the idea that a story can be as "real" as the person telling it). In that sense, I really appreciated the ambiguous connection between the Lego world and Finn's world. It didn't make Emmet and his adventures any less real, but it did layer extra meaning onto them. It turned the main message of the movie from an archetypical story of freedom versus oppression into an analogue for a family's relationship, and that in turn allowed for a more atypical resolution, where instead of being toppled by an anarchist mob (which almost always leads to further unrest), President Business could be reformed. And that in turn reinforced the movie's message about creativity—that there's nothing wrong with following instructions (it can be essential for teamwork or "learning the ropes") but people should be free not just to do that but also to think for themselves, express themselves, and explore the new ideas that only they can bring to the table. By not making either world more "real" than the other, both stories could affect one another and result in these more nuanced messages.
  19. Crazy idea: maybe they're not referencing years past 2001 because they want to save ideas for future years. Unless you WANT this to be a one-and-done theme, surely even you can see that introducing the entirety of the Bionicle universe in the first year would be a bad idea. But I don't see why I'm arguing with you, because you're so full of idiotic pretensions none of it is going to get through to you. You are the epitome of the worst kind of Bionicle fan, and I'm glad Lego isn't pandering to people like you—the theme will be all the better and more successful for it.
  20. The proper term for that would be "android", from which the term "Nindroid" is derived. In any case, I have no problem with what Zane looks like so long as he's the Zane we know and love.
  21. They're not going to kill off a MAIN CHARACTER offscreen. Dr. Julien was a completely different case—he was a side character at best who had already been assumed to be dead for years before they found him alive, much older, in an island prison. Zane already was lucky to get to see him one more time and show his gratitude to the man who made him who he was, so having him die afterwards was far less of an indignity.
  22. That might work if you kept his shoulders the same width... but I'm not sure even then. It'd require some pretty serious modding either way, especially if you wanted to avoid having his legs behind his torso like his arms are (which could look mega-awkward).
  23. What I love about the stud shooters in the Defenders is that even if launchers like that work their way into more sets in the future, they're not bulky. They're everything the Cordak Blasters should have been, and I hope any subsequent launchers are just as compact and versatile.
  24. I... I think Skylar's a girl ninja. Words cannot express my glee. The new sets all look fantastic!
  25. Are you serious? The Toa were battling darkness for the MAJORITY of the previous theme, in one form or another, and started on the tropical island of "Mata Nui" (What a weird name!). What conclusions could you possibly have jumped to that suggest that the new story is any worse than Bionicle's original story?
