  1. Found another error. The groove on part 15429 should be able to accept studs at any point along its height. This error prevents the completion of the Detective's Office set. Example image
  2. As Aanchir's brother I have to say that's an uncanny impression. Technically speaking, though, Trans. Bright Orange was also used for Vahki Bordakh's eyes, Ackar's sword, 2010 Stringer's Hero Core and, in a marginal case, the energy chains used by some of the mini-heroes in several of the Hero Factory: Invasion from Below sets.
  3. Found a somewhat unusual (albeit minor) bug with part 3069, when building the Detective's Office. Part One Part Two Obviously this bug doesn't affect much, since the collision volumes of the part seem to be A-OK. But it's a minor error that I imagine should be an easy fix.
  4. I agree a launcher there would've been neat. But Flick-fire missiles don't really work well when placed underneath a model, as it can be near-impossible to flick them unless the model's on the ground. Unless, of course, you have a more complex method of firing them. And at that point I imagine you'd be cutting the $15 target price point very close—LoSS already has pretty much the best price-per-piece in the new theme.
  5. With place names like Tigard, Sherwood, and Clackamas, I sometimes wonder if the entire Pacific Northwest is some sort of fantasyland. In case anyone's wondering, I checked both of my local Targets (around Fredericksburg, VA), and no Bionicle to be found, unfortunately. I wasn't in any hurry to get the sets but figured if anyone else in my area was looking for the sets I could spare them the disappointment.
  6. LDD has been fairly buggy for me (on Mac) for a little while and I don't know why. At one point a part failed to load after I clicked on it in the menu, making it invisible—only when I placed it did it become visible again, and subsequently it turned invisible every time I tried repositioning it. Several times I've found that the arrow key indicators when moving a part disappear and are replaced by random glitchy graphics. Today I saved a model and then the whole model glitched out, looking like a hot extruded mess. I had to close the program and open it again to fix it, and thankfully the saved file was perfectly normal as if nothing had happened. I don't know why these glitches are happening but they're really getting on my nerves (along with other unfixed bugs, such as the continued inability to take screenshots in the program). Is there any indication that progress is being made? Because this is making me start to worry about the future of LDD.
  7. Maybe! I've noticed before that the Lord of the Rings eagle wings basically work perfectly with the Friends horses, as far as size is concerned (I could do this now with a brown horse but I lack the wings). Maybe this theme will finally see Lego making use of that, in a new color to boot!
  8. You don't understand. A terrible Australian accent is a work of art, just like Dick Van Dyke's terrible Cockney accent in Mary Poppins. The impression ends up exceeding what it's trying to imitate and becomes something with an otherworldly appeal.
  9. Still holding out hope. After all, just because the box or product description don't name it doesn't mean it won't be named if it shows up in the TV series.
  10. Oh, I totally agree that Emily could come from anywhere. But I think it'd be a neat shout-out for her to hail from Heartlake City, and I don't think it'd be restrictive seeing as I doubt the story is going to focus much on Emily's home in the "real world". It'd be sort of like a backdoor pilot, but for a Lego theme instead of for a TV show.
  11. I don't know what you mean by "movie spin-off". I admit it'd be super-cool if Emily hailed from Heartlake City (after all, her specific hometown is unlikely to factor too heavily into the story), but I don't think that'd limit the new theme's story or make it less of a standalone theme than Friends (any more than when other Lego themes cross over, like Atlantis and Power Miners).
  12. Not that that's a bad thing!
  13. Oh man, that would be excellent. I think the last time Lego produced a paddle-wheeler like that was before my lifetime. But since the teaser makes it seem like that's one of the first settings we'll see, yet we haven't seen it listed in any catalogs yet, I worry it may suffer the same fate as Borg Tower and go undepicted in official sets.
  14. Not too fond of the face, but I like the rest a lot! How well does it support its own weight? From my experience eight-legged models can be hard to pose, and with the absence of friction joints or anything those legs look like they'd be a bit precarious.
  15. I'm not sure exactly how the licensing for LotR works, but could it be possible that the rules against reuse only apply to the specific elements from those sets (thus making newly molded versions with yellow ears and such A-OK)? And yeah, the Elf from that fantasy castle map was not based on any future plans. They very well might have moved on to elves if the sales of the Fantasy Castle theme had stayed strong enough to merit the theme's continuation, but ultimately it's not worth worrying about "what might have been".
  16. I don't see why everyone is upset about the fact that the Ninjago movie will be in the Lego Movie universe? I personally couldn't be more thrilled. I don't think that news necessarily suggests that the movie won't depict "canon" events from the existing storyline. The minifigures, after all, represent the characters, and the story has always been made for the purpose of role play. It's not inconceivable that the ninja of The Lego Movie have fought the same enemies and learned the same lessons that they have in the show. And even if they haven't (and the Ninjago movie does not fit neatly into the chronology of the series), I'm fairly sure we can expect the ninjas' depictions to be true to the characters we know and love, considering the writers of the show are still involved with the movie.
  17. Then change the colors to ones that the parts do exist in. That's easy on LDD. Allowing digital models to use parts that don't exist would result in an unfair playing field, since that's impossible to do on a "purist" physical model. Also, just as a bit of trivia: Only one constraction set has ever used LDD's 139 Copper: 8706 Karzon from the Knights' Kingdom theme. And only his shield used that color in an untreated state, because his other copper parts used 306 Copper, Diffuse. In Bionicle, the only "copper" parts were the copper masks (176 Red Flip/Flop).
  18. You're probably right about that being confusing. Of course, conversely, a new Castle theme featuring elves would have the advantage of a huge number of pointy-eared hair molds that LOTR and Elves will have already brought to the table. So who knows?
  19. Maybe? But the Fantasy Castle theme ended and was replaced by the more realistic Kingdoms a few years before Lord of the RIngs, so it's far from a sure thing. In any case, the CMF fantasy figures are enough for me in terms of nonlicensed Tolkien-esque figs. I say bring on the minidolls!
  20. Yes, the new masks work with the Brain Attack heads and not with the Glatorian heads. They pivot freely on the Brain Attack heads with little-to-no friction, although if the Brain Attack head is oriented vertically (with the clip on the back of the head, as most of the sets used it), the "chin" should keep most masks from flopping down too far (not gonna bother testing all of them). They fit more securely on a classic Y-joint (the old, rectangular style) because the bevels that keep the masks from flopping around on the new heads work just as well with the straight edge of the Y-joint. The same applies to HF fists, since the straight edge of the fingers will hold them in place with little-to-no flopping. They flop around more on the Glatorian fist due to the rounded fingers of that part not holding the mask in place. Another part that the new masks attach to, greatly increasing their versatility, is the standard 2M black or grey Technic pin. Because the masks can snap to that piece, you can construct any number of custom heads or mounts for the mask. So long as the edge next to the pin is flat (like on a 1x1 Technic brick, for example), the mask should not flop around much, either.
  21. Depends on how much you want it. Value is in the eye of the beholder. I spent $80 on the SDCC-exclusive Unikitty. But Unikitty is one of my favorite characters of all time and I didn't buy it as an investment (e.g. to resell), so I for one think I got my money's worth. Typically exclusives like that mask tend to drop in price for a short period of time after they're given away, but then rise in price steadily as the years pass. So it might be worth it to buy sooner rather than later. But on the other hand, sites like BZP have a decent number of masks that they're saving for future giveaways, so buying one isn't going to be your only option for the near future. If you want it but are having trouble justifying the purchase, try to think in terms of what $30 is worth to you. Do you work a job where you can earn that much in a couple of days? Do you indulge in any expensive habits like eating out frequently that you could refrain from for a while? Can you save more money on your typical expenses by waiting for sales on the things you want or clipping coupons for the things you need? I've found that framing a purchase in that way can help you overcome sticker shock and can help you recoup the losses from a purchase so long as you follow through with the sacrifices you pledge to make.
  22. Still no. Says I don't have permission to view it.
  23. Because the built in screenshot tool of LDD has been buggy on Macs for a while. When you try to save a screenshot that way, it fails to save and crashes the program. Believe me, I'd use it if it were possible to do so.
  24. Nope. Gives me an error message when I click it.
  25. Based on my own LDD sketches (and messin' around with the physical parts Aanchir and I got at NYCC), a figure like that with a gear function for the legs looks better if you add ANOTHER gearbox behind the first one, for his arms. Still pretty portly, but then again the classic Pohatu was as well, and by adding a gearbox for the arms, he's less bottom-heavy and his hips don't stick out behind his shoulders.
