The worlds are all just connected to a single hub world by portals. It's not like the whole game is one massive open world or anything like that! And you definitely don't need to delete any worlds in-game at any point.

WOW. I was already excited about a cute kid ninja (after Lloyd missed out on most of his childhood for plot reasons), but this is too much. The loose-leaf puppy emblem attached to his back with a safety pin! So cute.

Thanks. I found it and had trouble translating because of the small text, but my brother managed to decipher it. Not sure that's referring to global sales or sales in Italy, though. And as my brother pointed out, it sounds like it's talking about cumulative success over the theme's ten year lifespan (a length that still hasn't been repeated by any Lego IP, though Ninjago seems to be well on its way to doing so), rather than its overall popularity at a specific point in time. Looking back, though, this topic does seem to have started with the specific phrase "strongest IP". Which is probably why it seems to have been all over the place—that initial description was very vague. "Strongest" could mean most popular at its peak, most popular overall, highest sales at its peak, highest sales overall, longest lived, etcetera, etcetera. In the context of "highest cumulative sales and success over its lifespan", Bionicle probably does take the cake as the strongest. But it hadn't really been the most popular or successful theme when it last left shelves, not by a long shot.

Source on that "strongest IP of all time" quote? Because I don't remember that statement, and I was AT the panel where the theme's return was first officially announced. This press release from around that time period simply said it was "one of our most popular LEGO franchises and our first ‘constraction’ or constructible action figure line." Which is not even close to saying the same thing.

So did I... but to be honest, I don't hate it. Maybe because it sort of reminds me of Bill Cipher. I'm more amused than anything.

REVIEW: Elves Fire Dragon's Lava Cave (41175)
Lyichir replied to Zusammengebaut's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Great review! But technically Lego Elves discussion should go in the Action and Adventure Themes subforum, alongside themes like Ninjago and Nexo Knights. I love the new dragon designs. How do the heads attach, incidentally? Would it be possible to take a picture of the back of the head piece so people who don't yet have any of the new sets could get a better idea of its connection points? The cave is also great—amazing landscaping, and I love the moss-covered "beds"! And the Shadow Fountain serves as a great teaser of the darker direction the theme will be taking this summer. -
[HELP] Merlock 2.0, What shields to buy?
Lyichir replied to Technic Jim's topic in LEGO Media and Gaming
I can understand where you're coming from—I haven't scanned any of the physical Nexo Powers that I don't own myself, though less because it feels like cheating and more because you don't really need that many powers to be successful in-game and I'd like to keep that special feeling when I get a set that has new powers in it and get to scan them for the first time. I've only gotten a few sets so far (Ultimate Clay, Ultimate Macy, Ultimate Aaron, and the King's Mech). Of those, I find Ultimate Clay to have the most useful powers. Sword Tornado is a great power that serves as both offense and defense and is great for establishing a perimeter around your character. And Force Field is a very useful defensive power that is good for any characters that use melee attacks (which is to say, everyone other than Aaron). Lava Dragon is a decent offensive power, but I find it less useful than the above two—instead, I generally opt for Alliance of the Fortrex, a power from one of the TV episodes that is both very useful (dealing a lot of damage without inhibiting your character's ability to attack or move at the same time) and freaking awesome looking (summoning the Fortrex itself to the battle and just laying waste to enemies with its gatling guns).- 6 replies

Axl's hairpiece is probably the same one that will be used for the rumored "Mr. T" figure for Lego Dimensions (perhaps in Dark Brown instead of Black). So it's likely that all of the molds for the knights' hair will exist by the end of the year, if not necessarily in the right colors.
-
So it's not ACTUALLY a train set, but I figured some of you might be interested in one of the parts from Ninjago set... specifically, this piece in Dark Brown. Might be useful in MOCs? Just thought I'd spread the word.
-
The Ninjago set doesn't qualify because they specifically asked about sets that were released AFTER their respective themes had ended, and Ninjago has neither ended nor will end any time in the near future. Similarly, the Medieval Market Village was announced a full year before the Fantasy Castle theme had ended and released in January of the theme's final year, well before the last non-exclusive sets had launched.

I've built some Elves MOCs on LDD, but I've only really shared them in Facebook groups and the Lego.com galleries. Here's my Elvendale Arboretum. And here's a horse-drawn carriage for the Elves. I'd like to put some of these together in real life sometime, but no idea if I'll ever get around to it.

That book is great. I wonder... do you think the "interior pages" (1x2 tile with the green dragon print) are the same in all the summer sets that feature that book? Or is it possible that they feature alternate prints with some of the other dragons?
-
They're symbols that identify the six Toa. I don't see why that's not enough relevance (which isn't to say they won't have any other purpose, just that they already have a valid function).

Yup. Off the top of my head, the Shadow Castle features: Throne room with throne, chandelier, trapdoor, and some sort of structure in the tree branches—possibly a bed for Ragana's cat? Dungeon with removable wall. Collapsing bridge from the throne room to the castle, with a small river and stalagmites below. Main entrance and moving bridge—opening the main doors retracts the bridge INTO the castle, a freaking awesome feature. The ground floor also features a couch and portrait of Ragana. Bedroom with side table. There's a hidden compartment under the bed where a map and letter are stored. Treetop/balcony with cauldron. Washroom with sink, large mirror, and hand mirror. Rooftop with dragon egg and dragon statue. All in all, it's an amazing set! I hope the Elves theme continues to get bigger and better in the years ahead. If this is what they can achieve at a $100 price point, I can only imagine what a $120 set could offer...

So... What do we actually know about the Slizers?
Lyichir replied to Logan McOwen's topic in LEGO Action Figures
According to Brick by Brick by David Robertson, very well. The only reason it was replaced by Roboriders was that Lego hadn't expected its success, and already had another theme designed to replace it by the time the sales results came in (keep in mind that Lego had not yet streamlined their design and production processes to allow them to react faster to sales failures and successes). -
The figure designs come before the cartoon designs, so them not matching is a fault of the animated versions, if anything—not the other way around.

This isn't really the place for app discussion, which has its own topic in media discussion. But in my experience, Aaron is one of the most useful characters despite being a little hard to use. The main reason is that very few enemies have ranged attacks, and the ones that do typically have a long wait between attacks, meaning that he can usually do a fair amount of damage without getting hurt himself. It's a good strategy to start battles with Aaron and use regular attacks (NOT charged attacks) to quickly charge up your Nexo Powers during the first wave of enemies, so that they'll be available for other characters to use in the second and third waves as a defensive option. And since Aaron is the only character who can use that strategy, you'll want to prioritize his upgrades, particularly since his crossbow is the weakest of the basic weapons by default. Lance is also not bad—the range of his weapon is handy for keeping a little distance between you and the enemies, and is more powerful than Aaron's crossbow. But it's much easier to get swarmed by enemies with Lance if you aren't careful, which is why it's nice to have a few Nexo Powers charged up in advance.

Ninjago: Masters Of Spinjitsu TV Show Thread
Lyichir replied to Lance's topic in LEGO Media and Gaming
Keep in mind that the shorts detailing the pirates' backstories are literally described as "tall tales". The inconsistencies could simply be embellishments, or the stories themselves might even be completely made up.- 4,591 replies

Well, in last year's case, the obvious reason was that he wasn't included in the small summer wave of sets at all, so there was really no set to include a cape in in the first place. This year, though, he appears in the mine set, so there's less of an excuse. Maybe they thought the mine wasn't a big enough set to merit unique variants of the figs? Or maybe he's just less popular than the other female elves? Either way it's a huge bummer.

Hm, you think? I had assumed that the eyestalks were for popping the "masks" off like on the other sets... but I suppose given the nature of the beast heads, your explanation makes more sense. It's still a little bit of a disappointment, though. The new eyestalks are worse at piping light than last year's, but that's exactly why I wish they came in Trans. Fluor. Green—it'd be so much more impressive on figures like the new Toa than the dull and glassy Trans. Light Blue. I had hoped to maybe swap some of those out, but now it looks like I won't get that option...

The thing is, the jaws eliminate the need for the eyestalks themselves to be pressed, since a solid uppercut to the jaw would have the same effect regardless of which eyestalk was used (and the jaws are a much larger area to press than either eyestalk, as well). Also, Quake Beast seems to use a SIDEWAYS 2015 gearbox, with his right arm geared to swing horizontally. It's ridiculous but also kind of amazing.

I'm still upset that Farran doesn't seem to get a hood in the summer wave, especially considering the most recent trailer for the TV special shows him in the same hood and cloak as the other Elves. But otherwise these sets look great. I recently realized that I could potentially skip the Elvendale School of Dragons set, considering that Fledge, Tidus, and the hourglass piece all come in other sets. We'll see though—it's a small set, and I haven't missed any other Elves sets so far, so I might just end up getting it for the heck of it.

On the one hand, the new pictures do help to highlight the unique functions of Umarak and the Beasts (plus, the Mask of Creation works much better in Trans. Light Blue than I thought it would). On the other hand, Ekimu is still boring, the Beasts are posed awkwardly, and I'm disappointed that the sets all seem to use the old eyestalks since I was REALLY hoping to get the new ones in Trans. Fluor. Green.

Not too surprising. Considering we'd seen all the other normal sets, the only way we'd be getting a larger airship would be as a store exclusive. I suppose there's always next year!

42055 - Bucket Wheel Excavator
Lyichir replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
The set seems to use 2x2 domes, and I can't really see much of a problem with that choice.
