  1. Yup. That represents a far more critical risk for this project than any other new molds. The only magnetic parts used in modern sets are train couplings, and those are now designed with the magnet fully encased in plastic and attached to a much larger preassembled part. And this project literally can not be made without magnets—they're integral to the functionality of the project, and this project is only succeeding to the extent it is on the back of that functionality. If not for those magnets, this project might have a greater chance of success than any other Star Wars project ever posted to Ideas, thanks to the wellspring of support. But because of them, it has a snowball's chance in hell of passing review.
  2. From what anecdotes I've heard, older gamers make up a fairly large portion of Lego Dimensions' audience. To a certain extent, that makes sense—while Lego in general tends to be marketed first and foremost at kids, the audience for video games (even E-rated video games) tends to skew older. Many of Lego Dimensions' franchises take advantage of this audience and their nostalgia, including Back to the Future, Ghostbusters, and even Doctor Who (you might be surprised at this but here in the United States Doctor Who only recently became popular and is much, much more popular with adults than with kids). Also, keep in mind that Mr. T is not just an actor from the A-Team. He's a veritable celebrity in his own right, with an extremely distinctive appearance and persona. Over half of his filmography revolves around him playing himself or an exaggeration of himself, rather than original named characters. There's a reason why the set is literally labeled as "Mr. T" when the other placeholder names refer to the actual media properties the characters come from, rather than the actors or characters themselves.
  3. So far, yes. I don't think we've seen what the other books in the summer contain but it's not implausible that they might also have unique "pages".
  4. I'm pretty sure the Rogue's hood is new. At first I thought it might be the one from the Evil Green Ninja from Ninjago, but comparing the two, it's definitely different. Also, don't forget the Mariachi! After all, Eurobricks' historic themes categorization DOES classify Western as historic.
  5. Wow, the new Lego Elves special was amazing! Great story, great acting, great pacing, great music, great animation... it's a huge improvement over the rushed and slightly stilted special from last year. For anyone curious, the actors for the new characters are Vincent Tong (Tidus), Racquel Belmonte (Sira), and Heather Doerksen (Ragana).
  6. I don't know about that—that'd be quite limited in scope compared to the other packs, especially because you'd seemingly have to have the original characters to use them (not all of whom would be owned by all users of the starter packs). When I first heard the term, my first thought was that it might be like the power-up discs from Disney Infinity, that could be used to augment any character. But I've seen a number of alternate (and maybe even more plausible) theories. Notably, there are exactly five connectable packs—the same number as the number of systems that Dimensions is available on. So they could potentially be some sorts of expansion packs.
  7. Again, I can't even recall specifically if that's where I'd heard that Bionicle is not being considered a big bang theme. And apart from that (and stuff that's common knowledge now, like the debut of the Star Wars constraction sets, the various gold mask contests, and the debut of Journey to One), I don't remember him saying anything specific about "stature or status". Keep in mind that he's not really allowed to elaborate on future plans for the theme, and that being a designer he probably wouldn't have very much specific information about sales or media plans anyway. As far as the status of constraction as a whole is concerned, though, you might take interest in with Jørgen Vig Knudstorp, the CEO of Lego. When he's asked about what sorts of improvements new fans/AFOLs might be able to expect in the future, one of his first examples of things they might want to improve and change is "the future of the Character and Creature Building System used in Star Wars." To me, that seems to imply that constraction in general is definitely a big priority for Lego going forward!
  8. I think it should update if you launch it while connected to the internet. Otherwise I don't know. The new update, by the way, is fantastic. The Rocklands feature all sorts of interesting new enemies that really make me change up the way I've been playing thanks to more unusual attack patterns. The new bosses (Moltor and Lavaria) are both a joy to battle due to their interesting attack techniques. I haven't even played as Axl yet, but I'm already loving all this new content. Not only is the new area great, but so many little changes have been made to improve the overall experience. The characters now have multiple voice clips that are used more often, making their catchphrases far less repetitive and obnoxious. Enemies drop memory bits more frequently, making grinding for upgrades much less of a challenge (and the new way of obtaining upgrades makes them that much more intuitive). The game as a whole feels smoother, with fewer slowdowns even when using graphically intensive powers like Alliance of the Fortrex. Warps have been added to the overworld map to allow for easier travel between areas. The sheep in Knightonia even baa now! It's really amazing how much the game has been improved in this one update, and I'm looking forward to more.
  9. This isn't the first time we've seen that outfit. The new costumes are also used for the ninja in the Ninjago stage show at Legoland Malaysia, including Nya (in fact, when we first saw pictures from that show it wasn't clear that those costumes would ever even get a physical release!). Apparently Skylor gets a throwback costume in the TV series too. Hoping that shows up in a set as well!
  10. The first one that comes to mind is the new "Corner BURP" used in the Crook's Island and Prison Island sets. It'll also be appearing in the summer volcano sets.
  11. I doubt we'll get ones for all those villains, but I agree Nexo Knights packs would be amazing. I've even built my own concept for a Clay Fun Pack on LDD!
  12. Personally, I'm really excited for the new Paper Mario. I don't think Sticker Star was perfect or flawless by any means, but you know what? I thoroughly enjoyed it either way. I'm sure this new one will be similar, if not better. Apart from that, the part of the Direct that had me most excited was the new Kirby. I'm a sucker for Kirby any day of the week, but a follow-up to Triple Deluxe with Kirby riding a giant robot? Now you're speaking my language! I'm still on the fence about Star Fox Zero. I've never played a Star Fox game, and while so many screens and videos scratch that Star Wars: Rogue Squadron itch I've had since the N64, the control scheme sounds intimidating and I doubt I'll be confident enough in it to dive in until I've tried it myself.
  13. Elves has in fact been described as a Big Bang theme. Specifically, the first Lego Elves chapter book was labeled as such on sites like Amazon last year before a finalized title was listed. Similar things happened this year with Nexo Knights books. As for Bionicle, I think I recall designer Christian Minick Vonsild mentioning it not being considered a Big Bang theme in conversation either on the Lego Inside Tour or when he visited BrickFair New Jersey last year. But I don't have any sort of record of those conversations and as such can't confirm whether or not that was actually the case.
  14. I noticed. Some of the images are still available if you can guess the URLs, and I would expect the same to apply to Ragana's, but I haven't had much luck figuring all of them out. But I do remember the shot of Johnny Baker, who from the looks of it was one of the only elves who wasn't teasing Ragana for her weaker magic. Almost looked like he might have had a crush...
  15. I don't think you necessarily represent the mainstream purchaser, though. As disappointing as the Assault on Hoth set is, the TIE Bomber is an EXTREMELY obscure ship (barely even featured in the movies), and that would definitely decrease demand for a large and expensive model of one by a lot. Even an A-Wing would be more likely, since at least it could have a unique pilot figure instead of a faceless TIE pilot. And Lego's recent trend of making UCS playsets is likely based on concrete sales statistics—I would reckon the Ewok Village and Sandcrawler were both great sellers. In regards to the original question, I do think another UCS Millennium Falcon is likely to be made at some point in the future, given how iconic the vehicle is, the huge potential for minifigs (which can be a great selling point), and the extremely limited run of the original set even compared to other UCS sets. It's possible that the next version will be based on its appearance in The Force Awakens and presumably Episode 8 as well, to help differentiate it from the original. Another Star Destroyer is also likely, but possibly less likely to be a straight redesign of the same exact ship (since there are so many Star Destroyer varieties to choose from throughout the various films). I think the TIE Interceptor, like the aforementioned TIE Bomber, is unlikely to appear again—it only really appeared in one movie and the average purchasing audience probably doesn't care much about the various varieties of TIE Fighters (to be honest, I'm surprised it took us this long to get a vanilla TIE Fighter, which is much more iconic than the Interceptor). And as for the Imperial Shuttle, it's hard to say—it's much more recent than the other UCS sets you mentioned and as such it's still fairly fresh in consumers' minds, so I doubt another will become available for a good long while.
  16. Well, firstly, these results are global—we recently got similar statistics for the U.S. (done through an outside agency) that did not include Duplo among the most successful themes, so perhaps it's less successful here than it is in Europe. Also, Duplo tends to not be on most AFOLs' radar in the first place, so it's much harder for adult fans to get a read on how successful the sets are in the first place.
  17. Thanks! I don't have that set but I do have the Doctor Who pack, so hopefully the TARDIS will do the trick once I've upgraded it.
  18. Aaaaah they really are! As a side note, when I see animations like these ones, I can't help but continue to wonder whether we might see mini-doll characters in The Lego Movie 2. Obviously these animations are quite a bit different from those (with a lot more "cheats" where the figures' arms and legs move unrealistically), but just seeing how adorable the faces alone can be when they're animated makes me hopeful!
  19. Modulars are exclusively sold through Lego and are aimed at older kids/adults, both of which probably limit their sales compared to all-ages sets that are sold in most major retailers like City and Friends sets.
  20. Do vehicles like that have the ability to aim their lasers up and down? I was unable to get through that gold barrier with Benny's Lasercraft, which can seemingly only fire lasers in a direct horizontal line.
  21. Gotta admit, my first thought on seeing the topic title was "Shouldn't this go in the Community subforum?" When I see "lug" in a Lego context, I guess I automatically assume it's an acronym! But regarding the MOC itself, I love those piggies! Their faces are a great blend of fearsome and dopey!
  22. Most of the ghosts are variants on two or three common "ghost ninja" varieties, occasionally with mixed and matched parts. The four "ghost generals" (Bansha, Wrayth, Soul Archer, and Ghoultar), on the other hand, are unique, and all of them except Ghoultar come in two variants: one with unique printed legs, and one with a ghostly tail (Ghoultar only appears with a tail). Wooo from the battle pack is also unique for some reason.
  23. Are they? I'm pretty sure they're just unprinted orange basketballs like have been used in Friends. Not only are the dimensions of the "Zamor Sphere" piece much worse for things like that (slightly greater than 2M in diameter, rather than slightly less), but there'd be no reason to do them in orange since that isn't a current color for them, unlike the basketball.
  24. My brother just realized something about set 41175 Fire Dragon's Lava Cave. It seems like the top section of the Shadow Fountain can replace the parts from the Fire Dragon's forehead and be used for the evil mask/helmet (as seen in this image) from the story!
  25. Personally I can sort of justify it by assuming Emily might've brought a camera with her to Elvendale for those videos. After all, it's not like it's a time-travel scenario where she can't bring modern technology with her (in one of last year's shorts, she even had an MP3 player), and I can imagine that the Elves would be amused enough by the technology to come up with dumb things like this. :P
