  1. Thanks! This just made me realize that I'd never shared pictures of my Wairuha on this site yet. I suppose it'd be okay to share the pictures in this topic? The pictures aren't the best because my lighting isn't good today, and I might continue to tweak the design (I'd really love to make a Creature Kaita for it, among other things), so I don't feel like making it its own topic just yet. For now, here's Wairuha: Great Uniter of Wisdom! Front View Back View
  2. Just got Pohatu and Ketar today! Ketar is certainly an odd build, but his function is quite fun and effective provided you connect the arm gears at the right angles. Pohatu's back armor leaves a lot to be desired compared to the other 2016 Toa I've built, but I do like his arm build, his color scheme is quite nice (even with the blinding green of his lower arms), and his weapon is loads of fun. They also look much better combined than I had expected, even though I'd still consider it a less effective combination that Lewa and Gali's. Now Tahu, Onua, and their creatures are the only sets I don't have. I'd been planning on holding off until a sale or promotion, but all these anecdotes about Bionicle's sales might scare me into picking them up sooner. That, and ever since making a much more impressive Wairuha than I'd expected to be able to do with the new Gali, Kopaka, and Lewa, I'm kind of itching to give Akamai a shot.
  3. Weird! The small dragon wings (like the ones used for the Water and Earth Dragons) normally include an extra (probably because they come loose in the box rather than in a bag and thus need a different sort of weight check), but it's odd for a piece as big as the wings for the tail to just be missing like that. Hopefully you get your replacement soon!
  4. You can buy it digitally on Amazon.
  5. Considering the current Elves special seems to have left Ragana without a body to call her own, what if she BECOMES an evil dragon herself? It's a classic villain gambit! I do think an evil dragon would make for a good set, both to maintain some of the hype this year's dragons brought and potentially to get a chance to reuse the larger dragon head from Elandra.
  6. My opinion might change once we get pics of the Airjitzu Battle Grounds and better pics of the Samurai X Cave, but currently I'm most excited for the Ultra Stealth Raider! It's a fantastic upgrade of a vehicle that I didn't even get the first time around, plus an awesome mech and chair for Chen!
  7. I presume WB Games (TT Games' parent company) will be promoting Lego Dimensions at their booth just like they did last year. As a multiplatform game, it's also possible that it could pop up in one or more of the major console manufacturers' presentations.
  8. Probably just a matter of not spoiling fans with a whole bunch of them at once (wasting the opportunity to include some of those other cards as a unique detail for other sets), and potentially distracting from the core contents of a set. If a whole bunch of them were included in one set, where would you even put them all? One or two cards is one thing, and you can even stack them to form a small "deck" like in the Temple of Airjitzu. More than that, though, and the thickness of a plate would ensure it's no longer shaped much like a deck—more like a bookshelf.
  9. Yup, all stickers. Which is a little bit of a shame... but then, that's probably at least a small part of how we can get so many different ones, in so many different sorts of sets.
  10. None yet. I expect the next big flood of news will probably come at or around E3 in mid-June (assuming no major leaks beforehand).
  11. To be honest, I'm not even that disappointed with the Kryptarium prison set. What more detail could it even have without feeling repetitive? The set is basically the bare minimum necessary to set the scene, but as far as I'm concerned that's a good thing. I don't see the need to build a whole wall of identical cells when one or two will suffice. The gate in the set is quite a nice-looking little build, as well, without breaking the bank. The lack of a hook on Soto is a shame, but not really a game-changing issue. It'd be easy enough to give him a hook if you so desired.
  12. What implications are you referring to? Your post is so vague that I can't even tell if you're talking about implications for or against a connection (though the evidence against a connection extends beyond "implications" due to concrete statements denying one). The main issue I have with connection theories is that they almost ALWAYS raise more questions than they answer. A connection, especially one that would make up a foundational element of the story, begs the question of the nature of that connection—what happened to cause it, and why any differences between the two canons (of which there are many) exist. And not only are there numerous issues with the presumption that the Vahi is the same one from G1 (most notably, that the G1 Vahi didn't have an upper half, and its relegation to an obscure serial at the storyline's end), but connecting G1 to G2 almost necessarily grafts on all the baggage and loose ends onto the new storyline as well, many of which will have to be addressed for the twist to even begin to make sense. One theory I've seen that makes more sense and, in my opinion, would make an EXCELLENT twist, is that the Mask of Ultimate Power IS in fact the Vahi or Mask of Time. Perhaps when Ekimu knocked the mask off of Makuta, it shattered, and because of its temporal nature that one half sent catapulting backwards in time (this being the improbably ancient half that the Protectors and Ekimu used) and the other half, presumably, cast into the future. That kind of twist is not only self-contained, it also synthesizes multiple mysteries of the G2 story into an elegant solution. Why hasn't the other half of the Vahi surfaced? Because, as far as the timeline is concerned, it doesn't even exist yet. Ditto for the Mask of Ultimate Power, which unlike Ekimu and Makuta has yet to influence the events of the story beyond its initial use in the Legend.
  13. In the case of Power Miners, it's entirely possible that they just skipped 13 the same way that many high-rise buildings do. No use risking bad luck when you're deep underground.
  14. Alternately, Squiffy and Bucko could have been named after two of Nadakhan's original pirates instead of him just making the names up. But yeah, more likely that all the tall tales are made up. Considering Nadakhan's the kind of captain who insists on his crew having piratical names, it's not too much of a stretch to assume he prefers more impressive backstories as well.
  15. I think it's more likely that the "builder" of Lego Gotham (whether that's The Man Upstairs, Finn, or someone else) is one of those sorts of MOCists who sometimes works in actual water features instead of just a brick-built base. Even in The Lego Movie there were real-world "relics" that weren't built out of Lego, so it's not a huge stretch to extend that to actual H2O.
  16. This MOC is fantastic! While I'm a bit disappointed by the diminished color variation on the exterior compared to the Starlight Inn set, the interior more than makes up for it with a very warm and inviting color scheme. And I have to admit that the juxtaposition of the quiet, almost camouflaged appearance of the exterior and the vibrant and busy interior does have its own sort of appeal. On a side note, this really it makes me wonder once again why Lego Elves discussion and MOCs aren't in the historic themes subforum. This is a fantastic MOC, on par with some of the very best medieval fantasy MOCs, and really if it weren't for the mini-dolls it wouldn't stand out that much as specific to the Elves theme. And despite the "historic" naming, the historic themes subforum has always been the home of medieval fantasy of all stripes, including licensed themes like Lord of the Rings. But whatever. I've long since come to terms with the fact that many Eurobricks castle fans would rather continue to discuss discontinued themes until the end of days, rather than have to accept anything new and different. And it works out well for me, since it shunts discussion of so many of my favorite themes into the same catch-all forum.
  17. While that could be amazing, I worry that we wouldn't get Farran in that sort of encyclopedia for the same sorts of reasons that we haven't gotten one in the sets. Farran may be a main character but he's also a male character in a theme aimed primarily at girls. As such, it would not surprise me if Lego and DK would consider a female character like Emily or one of the other elves to be a bigger draw for that sort of book. I mean, that's not to say that Farran won't get a chance to get a hood and cloak in a future set. There's nothing that'd stop them from using the hoods and cloaks for the Elves in future years, and for that matter a part like that could appear on another Earth elf or even in a set like some sort of boutique or clothing shop (which would be another great sort of fantasy business for a future Elves set). But in a book can only include a single fig to represent the theme, I think we'd be much more likely to see a female character.
  18. ALL confidential pics are official. But just because the pics are high quality doesn't mean that they're necessarily completely finalized, or that they're meant to be circulated at this point in time. Not that I'm complaining! Even though these pics don't necessarily show much more detail than we saw on the actual physical sets at Toy Fair, it's nice to see them in well-presented, well-lit, and well-posed product shots. One things these pics do offer is a better look at the mouse in the Precious Crystal Mine set. He looks great! And he seems to also appear in the Queen Dragon' Rescue set, though it's possible that they accidentally threw him in when taking the product shots (stranger things have happened, especially with pics that are still marked preliminary). It's still a shame that Farran isn't getting a hood and cloak like the others. It's possible that I could make a custom cloak and hood by tracing the cloak shape and repainting one of the hoods... I'll have to look into that, I suppose.
  19. That is true but based on the original question I figured they were more interested in knowing whether the katanas came in the silver color used for his mask and head, rather than the grey color used for parts like his torso and legs.
  20. Even the other modulars are technically classified D2C sets as far as Lego is concerned. I'm not exactly sure how the system of other stores stocking them works, but it doesn't change their classification.
  21. When I downloaded the latest update, I had to beat the last Wasteland boss (Whiparella) again for the Rocklands to unlock (despite having beaten her once prior to updating). Axl is unlocked around halfway through the Rocklands, after defeating Moltor/Mouldron the first time (IIRC). Hope this helps!
  22. Printed tiles and such with logos would be nice (and not entirely unlikely, considering parts like 1x1 round tiles are commonly printed and never stickered). But printed Technic panels would not only be unlikely (given that no other set has included printed Technic panels), but would be severely disappointing from a MOCist's point of view.
  23. The outfits look great, but Lloyd seems larger than Kai despite being behind him and that wonky perspective is kinda freaking me out.
  24. Handlebars can be a royal pain to connect to figures digitally, and unless you can copy the positioning from another existing model, there are no real shortcuts. My best advice would be to try to build that section of the model physically so you have an approximate idea of what angles the figure's arms and hands will need to be at for everything to fit snugly. But beyond that it might as well be trial and error. Just keep adjusting the angles until you get the figure's hands to fit the way you want.
  25. Titanium Zane is mostly Silver Metallic, so yes. All silver katanas in Ninjago sets are that color, since Silver Metallic replaced the previous silver plastic color prior to the start of the theme.
