Damn, is that Obi-Wan interceptor a huge letdown. They had it all nailed with Anakin's interceptor, they then went ahead and made it terribly worse with the next release. Colors don't match, geometry/size is wrong, stickers up the wazoo, the droid slot is.. Oh my god, just why Lego? Rebel Troop Transport will be mine, however.

Oh.. and.. why the cracks?
-
Why do the stortrooper minifigs in the First Order Battleback have cracks on their helmets? That's like.. annoying :S

I wish Lego would make a Nebulon B Frigate or a new Correllian Corvette.

I use toilets with toilet covers..

Mission accomplished. Her first remark was how much more fun it was to personally build something rather than help organize and pick parts.. She then fell in love with it as soon as she got a sense of what she was building and let her imagination rather than her eyes do the seeing. We then spent a lot of time looking over Lego kits; she particularly liked Changing Seasons to go with her current set, and the Parisian Restaurant. As expected, what she loves most is building the small tiny details about real life places. We also watched the Lego Movie together and she loved it, now I have to find a Cloud Cuckoo Palace because she really wants a Unikitty minifig. I've done it Eurobricks. Give me a medal.. or something :D

Is that a toilet seat on the right?

We will see on the weekend, I will let you all know how it went. I'm hoping she loves it, fingers crossed..

Yeah, it's pretty neutral which was kind of the point, I want her to get a sense of what she likes most.. I mean, my first thought was the Parisian Restaurant too, but it was out of stock and I didn't know if it would be too long a build for her - she can get frustrated by hobbies that require patience.. This one has basic building techniques, all around useful bricks, some good interior detail, some interesting exterior detail, a minifig.. depending on what she likes most out of it (my hunch is that she'll like the hinged opening house and the interior details, which means I'll probably follow up with the Bike Shop and then a 2016 modular building release..) I'll pick the next purchase :)

I recently got back into collecting and building Lego after a decades long break with the recent excellent Star Wars and Technic kits, and my wife has been extremely supportive of my new-old hobby, showering me with gifts and helping me build them appreciatively. So I thought it would only be fair and nice to return the favor and get her something that could help her get into the hobby as well.. She was actually a Lego player as a kid, so I went ahead and bought her something that would remind her of her experience with brick sets from the late 80s and early 90s: So, Eurobricks, did I do good? The set looks like an amazing value for the price I got it for (roughly around slightly over $30) and for 550 pieces that's crazy good compared to what I'm used to getting for Star Wars sets.. Plus, the set seems to have amazing alternative builds, and a lot of great fundamental pieces, and a couple of base plates.. I'm feeling kind of bad about not asking before buying (and I hope I made no mistakes here..) but it seemed like such a great deal :) Hopefully, I just created a new AFOL! We'll see on the weekend ;)

Saying this one is well designed could be considered a stretch as well IMO.. -
Have these been shared here yet? Star Wars 2016 1H Construction sets: Kylo Ren Captain Phasma Stormtrooper Rey Finn Poe Dameron And here's the Stormtrooper: Poe Dameron might well be the first construction figure I buy.. I love the character.

I came across a 75020 Jabba's Sail Barge today, it was selling at retail.. Is this set rare or sought after by any chance? Should I go back and buy it next week? -

I really wonder if this set will be compatible with Lego's other modular buildings.. -

I seem to be having a lot of trouble locating some TFA sets to buy, the more popular sets seem to have gone out of stock really fast. That's more than a little strange. Anyone else noticing this? Are they being sold like hot cakes, or is there a supply problem? -

I'm really considering getting a second Star Wars set after finding Poe's X-Wing to be really nice.. I can't decide on which of the following to buy though: Jedi Interceptor Snowspeeder TIE Advanced Prototype Special Forces TIE Fighter Which of these is the best bang for its buck? I feel the SF TIE is terrible value, but looks the best? -

The Millennium Falcon colour thread (White, Grey or Blue!)
appiah4 replied to appiah4's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Once again, here is an actual photo of the set this was filmed in, it's a warm white, the slight differences are due to lighting (and it certainly looks closer to stormtrooper whites than really cool grey elements in the hangar regardless):- 125 replies

In addition: the wings are shorter (which makes the ship squattish), the engine detail is different (more detailed and actually better), the cannons have changed (to resemble something from an 80s spaceship..)
-
It's weird that the Obi-Wan interceptor is a step back from Anakin's interceptor in almost every regard..

The Millennium Falcon colour thread (White, Grey or Blue!)
appiah4 replied to appiah4's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Well, the whole point of (my side of) the argument was that the Falcon's color, on an RGB scale, is much closer to Lego White than it is to Lego Light Gray (and in fact it is a warm white with heavy weathering that makes it look drab rather than a coat of even cool light grey..) and as such it would be better represented with white brick with grey accents rather than grey with dark grey accents. In response to the DB327 comment, here is the actual set, it's white: For a better perspective, compare an early studio model of the Falcon to things like AT-ATs.. Here are some shots of the Episode 7 filming model: https://mffanrodders...m-falcon-model/ And this is a scene from Episode IV: I'm not saying the other view is wrong, this was just my attempt at showing what my idea looks like.- 125 replies
