Actually.. That leads me to think.. the rubberbands are blue because the next X-Wing is Blue/White, and they didn't want to stock on orange rubber bands?

The Millennium Falcon colour thread (White, Grey or Blue!)
appiah4 replied to appiah4's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Yeah, hoping a mod helps as well. It's actually possible to recolor the thing by mass selecting all white/grey/dark grey bricks and coloring them, but the problem would be that many of the bits used in the hull plating are not available in tan or sand, thus unavailable in LDD.- 125 replies

I've tried, but I can't seem to add a poll via editing, and I didn't think of doing that while posting :( Maybe a mod can help..- 125 replies

The Millennium Falcon colour thread (White, Grey or Blue!)
appiah4 replied to appiah4's topic in LEGO Star Wars
This project sprung out of a discussion in the 2015 Rumor and Picture thread about whether the Falcon is color correct, and whether a white Falcon would actually look better or not. I will let you be the judge of that. While I do not own the parts to actually build this (and I'm not keen on bricklinking the whole thing..) I thought I could easily make a proof of concept by building it in LDD (which was a wonderful learning experience) and BlueRender. Here is the result: And here is a comparison with the original model: Ultimately, the main problem I saw was that some pieces are simply not available in light grey (only in dark grey) and some pieces are not available in white. I did not keep an inventory of these, but the halos on the hull, some bits on the landing ramp, hinged plates on the top flaps, etc. come to mind. Regardless, I still stand by my claim that this is a better representation of the Millennium Falcon, and looks awesomely good..- 125 replies

The Millennium Falcon colour thread (White, Grey or Blue!)
appiah4 replied to appiah4's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Which is exactly the same case for the X-Wing but it works, because of studs, bricklines, and use of careful second colors. It's not yet finished, and I plan on finishing this comparison, but here's why it would work and would look more like the Falcon: Anyway, as someone else pointed out, this subject is probably digressing and I won't post on it anymore in here.. (I'll instead start a new thread when my build is done :) )- 125 replies

The Millennium Falcon colour thread (White, Grey or Blue!)
appiah4 replied to appiah4's topic in LEGO Star Wars
On the RGB scale they are BOTH closer to pure white than they are to Lego light gray, that is for sure. I will just post this once again, this is from Star Wars.com and a direct screengrab from the movie: Compared with this: I'll leave you to decide whether I'm color blind or not. I'm halfway through building a White Millennium Falcon in LDD at the moment, I'll post renders when I'm done, but so far it looks a million times more screen correct..- 125 replies

Grey falcon and white Xwing.. You guys so crazy.. Look up any screengrab of Falcon its NEVER grey on screen. In space or on land its white as a snowspeeder. Its white as Hoth snow! Grey Lego kits are just wrong and miarepresent it.- 125 replies

The Millennium Falcon colour thread (White, Grey or Blue!)
appiah4 replied to appiah4's topic in LEGO Star Wars
This was correct in early 90s. In 2015 Lego has enough colors and parts to accurately model and represent nearly anything at several scales. The problem as I see it is intent. The Falcon could have been white and it would have looked nice. That would just take more effort and resources than a quick rehash with a new dish and some new minifigs. Then why is the X-Wing 9493 white? It also appears worn and grey on screen.- 125 replies

Sad.. It's Anakin's Interceptor for me then, at least it's screen correct.

Edit: Please note that this thread includes a mixture of posts from the 2015 Pictures & Rumours which have been merged with appoah4's thread..... Thanks a lot for taking the time to respond. A lighter grey,in the palette as a compromise would indeed have been great, but you make do with what you have. Not that I'm second guessing your decisions, but I'd still like to point out that white doesn't look that bad on a transport ship like The Ghost, which isn't really that far removed from the Falcon as far as presentation goes.. I realize that it has a lot of bright colors to contrast with a bright white, but the white is also toned down with clever use of grey plating like it was done on ghost.. I guess I should just assemble the thing in white in LDD sometime and take a screengrab and see for myself :) EDIT: This is what it looks like at the end of Bag 6: Also, if I may ask one more question, was there ever an idea of giving The Ghost interior space a la Falcon? I promise, no more questions after this.

Oh.. Nice :) If they actually do it in red/WHITE (not grey..) then I'll get Obi-Wan's interceptor for sure. I hate PT Anakin more than I love Artoo..
-
@BrickCommander The new Falcon set aggravates my main gripe with the model even further: Color correctness; it's even darker than the predecessor while the real model is almost white.. Has the idea of doing the thing in white with light grey patches ever been thrown about?
-
Is the list here legit: http://makingstarwars.net/2015/07/star-wars-the-force-awakens-new-planet-name-revealed/ And if so, is it safe to assume Anakin's Jedi Interceptor will be released in red as Obi-Wan's Jedi Interceptor? I like the yellow one so I guess I should grab a box before year end or something, in case it goes OOP.. (How many Jedi interceptor kits will we have by the way, 7?)

I got my halloween X-Wing. I hated myself for a while for not resiating the impulse.. But damnit, it's an X-Wing and my first. I already love it.
-
After trying to find a 9493 for a decent price I gave up and got 75102 Poe's X-Wing. I expected buyer's remorse but not this bad. Strangely enough, half a day later, I actually like the kit, a lot.
-
The brown canopy one could have fooled me into being from the original BSG.. The second one definitely looks like it's from an 80s Space set.
-
I really don't get whey they arbitrarily used a darker grey and added even dark grey plates to the Falcon's hull.. I understand that it's to help improve the patchwork juryrigged appearance, and yes it gives some contrast and depth but that's not what it looks like. It's not even grey to begin with, it's actually white with light gray patches, it's simply not dark grey like that.. Even so, the old kit looks much truer to its actual appearance. In comparison, here's the actual stage prop: There go my hopes for a color correct Falcon redesign :( I don't like the new X-Wing colors at all either.. They had it near perfect with te 9493, but now I can't find one that won't cost me an arm and a leg.. I really feel frustrated because I can't enjoy any of the new kits enough to warrant a purchase, they all feel like letdowns.. :(

So no Mech/Robot Creator kit for 2016?

I'm considering collecting a few sets for MOC mech experiments.. Which is a better starter Creator kit, Power Mech (31007) or Future Fliers (31034)? Thanks :)

Post your general LEGO Star Wars questions here

Yeah half price B-Wings sound awesome! Where? Also, is getting a Z-95 for around 43 GBP worth it? I believe it's OOP, but is it a good kit worth collecting? Or should I go for a B-Wing for slightly less than that (38GBP)? Or maybe go for even a Jedi Interceptor (I have none) for 19GBP?
