  1. That’s a no from me chief. I don’t remember us ever caring more about the license than the model.
  2. @Whitezombified It's amazing how much just adding that vertical bar on the grill helps make the set look more like a Charger than a Challenger
  3. It doesn't look much like the A60H, but it's still a very clean design, which I appreciate. It looks like a mini articulated hauler. In any case, there's enough parts in the set that fixing the proportions should be easy.
  4. Personally, I don't much care about single use pieces, as long as they are only introduced as a cosmetic. I would have issues with Lego suddenly releasing giant complex structural parts, because that messes with my personal interpretation of the very essence of Technic. Cosmetic parts are just fluff to go on the top to cover the holes. Considering it's a licensed hypercar that costs serious money, it better damn well look exactly like the car (this is why I was so disappointed with the Chiron, the front was a total miss for me and its proportions were a bit out of whack), so cosmetic panels that help achieve that are a total win for me. In any case, I still sometimes build Bionicles, so the weird panels can always just become wings or fairings of some kind (assuming I ever disassemble the car).
  5. That doesn't matter at all. Wheels are like the easiest thing to change in these models since they're all the same size anyway.
  6. Just look at the ends of that front fender. They have identical design language to current Technic panels and wheel arches. Granted though, the rear panels are very strange
  7. @Ngoc Nguyen My point still stands though, there's no way for us to know what Lego would do. Nobody would have expected so many licensed sets this year. Maybe these UCS cars are selling so well that they can afford to spend more on new moulds?
  8. The thing is, we don't and can't KNOW what Lego would do. They've surprised us quite a bit in the last few years and done things we wouldn't have thought they'd do. Who's to say the VW Group hasn't slipped them a bit of money to help make those part moulds? Single use moulds aren't anything special, Technic did it for the Mack, the GT3 and the Chiron
  9. With the wing mirrors, we know very little about the design process, so it's possible they were changed at the last moment. I think the timing on this one is too close to be anything but a result of bootleggers having gotten their hands on the set early (either through a leak or a retailer), especially since Lego intend to reveal and release it on the same day, like they did with the Falcon. Given that sets would have already been in the country because of the Jiaxing factory, I think it's extremely unlikely that MK went to the effort to make their own design, since (looking at MK's current MK catalogue) they haven't done anything of the sort historically.
  10. Problem is, the accuracy of this design goes WAY beyond anything even our resident hypercar builders have done. The accuracy of the proportions and body lines is scary. Everything about the design language of the set screams official model to me. The design language of the front quarter panels/fenders is practically identical to the fenders in the 911 and Chiron, in that the edges have that slight fillet. I'm convinced that the bootleggers got an early copy from a warehouse or a retailer in China. And yet, those side view mirrors are different. I'm so confused...
  11. Oh don't get me wrong, I hate the real Sian too hahah. By all accounts it's a messy eyesore, namely because of all the black angular gaps running along the body. However, the Technic model just works for me because those black gaps aren't as prominent due to the gaps in the rest of the body panels
  12. I cannot believe for one second that this is not a direct rip of the real Lego model. It’s just too beautiful and well sculpted. The Porsche wheels confuse me, but I think it’s possible they just changed up the rims. I never would have expected anything like this to happen. That being said it’s an amazing looking model, and the proportions and body lines are SPOT ON, but my god do those new panels just scream “shit we bit off way more than we could chew here”
  13. I totally dig these function-packed small scale models. I wish they'd make an official mini crane truck set
  14. So I was scrolling through and trying to find the new purchases topic, and I stumbled across this and I’ve gotta say, damn dude this thing looks sweet. Any idea if it would fit in the 42043 Arocs?
  15. I can tell you that unless you widen the wheelbase, that straight up will not work without heavy modifications to the wheel wells to account for the offset hub placement and larger wheel size.
  16. @Mechbuilds Jesus dude there’s an international pandemic on at the moment... lay off why don’t you
  17. That’s cool and all, but you sounded like you were whinging that someone didn’t have a solution perfect for you. What are you looking for regarding changes to the wheelbase i.e. width, ride height, wheel type, etc.?
  18. Oof, I really can’t say I’m a fan of the front. It looks too flat and smushed, and (along with the wheel rims and large cockpit windows) really makes the car look LMP-lite. I’d stick to Technic parts
  19. Forgetting about Bionicle here. Because licensed models are a safer bet because they carry both familiarity and make for better promo videos.
  20. Gotta agree unfortunately. If 42107 weren’t a licensed motorbike then I doubt we’d see new damped shocks, a fat rear tyre or a gearbox in a bike. And if 42111 weren’t licensed then I doubt we’d see it to begin with, let alone the return of the torque tube piece. It’d just have boring independent suspension. Also, is the tilt rotor even confirmed to be licensed?
  21. Looks like they decided to save time and skip designing the A-model too Seriously though, I hate 42108, it’s a total stinker for what it costs. All these beautiful B-models that have been coming out put the A-model to absolute shame.
  22. I wanna point out that it's not only kids who benefit from the blue pins. It definitely does help adults too
  23. Well yeah it obviously needs a spring. You can have a narrow damping cylinder with a spring going around it
