They return the money you spent. The only thing I agree on is that their response could have included a small apology for any disappointment caused. Any stuff beyond about brand loyalty is just flat out alien to me. My relationship with TLG is purely utilitarian.

Considering that instructions are generally released for free anyway, I doubt there'll be issues
-
@nhk As mentioned previously, it’s likely the combination of a large defence contractor license and traditional military vehicle that tips them off. If it were unlicensed or an AW609, this ordeal probably wouldn’t be happening.

A Liebherr license is nothing like a Boeing license. Sure, the excavator is used in coal mining, but that in and of itself isn't inherently violent or negative - we need coal for heavy industry. Boeing and the V-22, however, are both heavily tied to the military, and the public knows it.
-
@AirDolphin Yeah I think that's good. I wanna add though, while I'm also disappointed, I think it's silly to be legitimately furious over this - it is, after all, just a toy. At the end of the day, I think it's important to keep things in perspective and understand that there are legitimate reasons for not wanting TLG to associate itself with a well known military product AND licensee.

@AirDolphin I've added a bunch of examples to help as well: LEGO fans urge The LEGO Group (TLG) to release the LEGO Technic set 42113 Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey. The set does not include any weapons, nor does it promote violence. Neither the assembled model, nor its packaging indicate any military application - it is depicted as a search and rescue (SAR) designation aircraft. It should therefore be appropriate in teaching both children and adults about the inner workings of such complex machines. This set adheres to TLG's internal guidelines for the type of products it makes, in the same way that the following listed products do, despite all featuring main and/or alternate models and functions that are very obviously based off real-life military vehicles currently in service: 42066 Air Race Jet, 42052 Heavy Lift Helicopter, 42040 Fire Plane, 42020 Twin Rotor Helicopter, 31096 Twin-Rotor Helicopter, 31092 Helicopter Adventure, 31057 Air Blazer, 31042 Super Soarer, 31039 Blue Power Jet, 31023 Yellow Racers, 31020 Twin Blade Adventures, 31008 Thunder Wings, 31003 Red Rotors, 31001 Mini Skyflyer, 9394 Jet Plane, 7873 Airplane Set, 7345 Transport Chopper, 6912 Super Soarer, 5892 Sonic Boom, 4953 Fast Flyers, 4895 Motion Power, 4439 Heavy-Lift Helicopter. The 42113 Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey is an opportunity for LEGO Technic fans to build a complex aircraft type that has not been seen in the Technic theme for years. The SAR designation should be enough to satisfy its use as a LEGO set, appropriately separating it from its conventionally military application. Withholding it from consumer purchase would do nothing but waste the effort and talent gone in to designing such a faithful recreation, as well as alienate many adult collectors. Rest assured, LEGO fans want this set.

A 737-800 is an aircraft whose purpose is overwhelmingly for commercial aviation. A V22’s purpose is almost entirely for military use. It’s quite different, even if I don’t agree with them pulling it I hope they at least release instructions when we get another dumb battery box.
-
Probably not, but it's probably more to do with a legal requirement to enforce things. Even though this whole ordeal is stupid, TLG should've just come up with their own unlicensed design without needing to be a licensed Boeing model. Pretty sure no one owns the rights to the tiltrotor configuration, because Arma 3 has an unlicensed tiltrotor, and Lego did one in the AW609 style before with 8434.

Damn I really hope they don't pull it permanently, it's a really nice model that I'd like to get -
There's been some discussion earlier, and it's confirmed that they're the new ones

I'm interested, but you should start a new topic. Once that's done though you should also share a link in this thread

Seems like there's a fair bit of slack in the engine tilting. Bit of a shame, but otherwise quite a nice set (if not for the really long tail)

I’d go with what Prez said. A 42108 and a 42097 will give you heaps of useful structural pieces, as well as multiple gears, turntables, linear actuators, wheels and treads, all of which will be endlessly helpful for a novice builder. While one 42082 has electronics, its large wheels restrict MOCs to larger scales which’ll be difficult for a novice. In any case, you can buy power functions separately on BrickLink. If you want him to MOC with it as a novice, don’t get him a 42082 yet. With a 42108 and 42097 he’ll be able to make literally anything he wants

Technic 2020 Set Discussion
Bartybum replied to dimaks13's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Also, look at those set numbers - they're ancient. The lastest one (8043) was almost a decade ago, so these functions might as well be new. Technically you're right but the point is almost entirely useless -

Uh... no? Your argument held no water, therefore it was a bad argument. I supported my claim with good arguments -

That's a bad argument - you can make that argument for any vehicle that gets repeated. Almost every 2H model this year offers something new or not seen in ages, with exception to the Lamborghini. The Volvo has an RC gearbox, the cement truck has a working drum and the tiltrotor is a tiltrotor
