1h 2012 models
Conchas replied to JunkstyleGio's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I've found the new triangles also on 9395 (DBG), and recent boxes of 8070 (Black). -
Old technic tv adverts?
Conchas replied to davidmull's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
No, unfortunately I don't remember to have seen commercials for 8868 or 8455. I'd love also to see one for 8455. It is my favorite LEGO Technic set, ever! -

Reverse engineered 9392 "MOC"
Conchas replied to Nazgarot's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Wow! What a discussion is going here. Great idea for you to share your thought and guesses here, after the contest submission period. I've not yet started the mismatch evaluation, as I did not received the official BI yet. As usual, I think I'll have the work done, somewhere in January. I guess I'll also have a lot of work evaluating all the entries, has you had modeling them, because the model is larger than in the previous editions of the Challenge. Thanks for all who spent their time modeling your entries and participating in this Challenge. -
Excellent work! Maybe you have seen also this small version from a fellow.

This element was never released in a set, in black color. However there are a few stores at BrickLink, selling it. Like others, it is a special color element. Such elements are sometimes produced as test strikes, as special lots for LEGOLAND Park designers or for LEGO Designers to test in new sets. In this particular case it is nothing really new. I mean that it has been available for long time and it is no worthy to speculate, whether it is expectable to see this used in a set to be released in next releases. I've also a few, that I've bought from such stores in BrickLink. I've no precise idea how these stores get such elements to resell, despite I've some clues or guesses.

Flatspots on tires
Conchas replied to davidmull's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
You can use some "hidden" bricks underneath your model, to avoid the pressure on the tires. After all this is LEGO... -
My reasons to doubt about an eventual Rock Crawler flagship... LEGO models are intended to be played by the consumers (children or not so children anymore). I believe that LEGO Technic consumers play with their models indoors and I assume TLG has the same understanding. I could even speculate that well above 90% of the consumers won't put a $200 flagship running outdoor, over rocks, etc... Thus what's the point of making a large and motorized Rock Crawler as a flagship? Who will play with it and where? Think about at least tenths of thousands of consumers of such set... I'd however admit TLG could think to develop a model of this kind, in a small scale and not motorized. But even this, looks quite unlikely... How many battery boxes would required to power such hypothetical XXL? Even if it would be one, certainly you couldn't power anything else from this... TLG, please bring a PF-S motor instead!...

Yet another excavator
Conchas replied to Sariel's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Saw it yesterday, or the day before, through my subscription. This model is awesome and very original, at least. Count with another reference at TBs! -
It was also my first thought. Sideways it would make perfect sense. A great MOD though!

Yes I'm sure the 3/4 pins were put there for safety and to avoid contact with the chassis. Just to increase the safety margin. In my case and after removing the pins, I found the chassis still full operational and no contact between the wheels and the chassis at all. Of course the margin was minimum (about one milliliter). And of course I didn't try to force the parts behind their natural limits, otherwise the contact is always possible (even with the 3/4 pins, if you are really motivated to damage something...). In resume, I still believe the 3/4 pins removal to be an option, if you want to play this way. No damage because of that, if you play gentle, even compressing the suspension. Nevertheless this was just a test for demonstration purposes. You can perfectly continue playing with the original setup and it is the recommended one!!

Hi Eric, only today I realized you were also interested into this special edition. Exactly one month ago, I've bought one that was listed at BrickLink for long (MINT). Sometime ahead, I plan to post something about at TechnicBRICKs, but do not itend to build this extremely rare set. Here you have the two "side-by-side". http://www.brickshel...ry.cgi?f=473329

MOC starcraft2 civilian BANSHEE
Conchas replied to drakmin's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Hi, great model and interpretation! Have you missed to take a photo together with the Challenge logo printout, so that it can be considered as a valid entry into the contest? -
As you may have noticed, The March Challenge ended with 9 entries only, instead of the usual 10. Despite there was an initial idea to replace the fake entry (presumably two at first and one later on), it took some time as the situation developed and it turned out a bit late for a new entry to come in. The new contestant would not have fair chances of getting votes, compared to others listed for already sometime. In the meantime the team is looking on the possibility to change the way photos should be taken for submission. So I guess we will hear about soon. Stay tunned!

TLG considered przemo1201's entry a different model despite similar to the one built by Fistach (Blast Hole Drilling Rig), as it is built in a different way. Then they come with a proposal for two other models, but meanwhile I've made them know about the latest developments. So lets see how this develops. I won't share here these two new models for verification, because suddenly it seems we won't have two to replace, but one. And I don't want to cause any kind of frustrations t one of the author's eventually reading here.

Despite the track difference already mentioned above and from all the images actually available, I also believe the new tire diameter will be larger. About 11L instead of 10L. If so, these would be the largest LEGO tires (in diameter) for non motorcycle vehicles, what would be great for the construction of larger scale vehicles!

I have this F1 car from 1976 and also the original instructions. The part was in fact used as an axle holder (4 in the front axis and two in the rear one), for the 8L white translucent axles, used at the time. It is like an early version of the actual 1x2 Technic Brick, and like Parax explained it was probably the solution found at the time, to address the molding requisites in the cheapest way.
