I don't observe that behavior anymore, so I guess this is part of the things that will take still sometime to fully stabilize for you. My other domain in the same ISP, still does not resolve and I still cannot get TBs ftp access. Guess it will take some more time till it gets coherent everywhere. -

Both should remain working! Although the update won't hurt anybody and something shorter as technicbricks.com will be easier to remind. -

Likely since I've activated the redirect. Hopefully the DNS update that was made yesterday, will solve you this issue forever... I've just confirmed the weird message on Blogger about the redirect, is also gone. Hence the original URL (www.technicbricks.blogspot.com) is also working now flawlessly. -

Just learned it works for me now too, because I saw my banner reaper in the post above yours (it is hosted at TBs domain) Meanwhile tested to access and it is really work at my desktop. Hope it is to stay and that the change has definitely solved the sporadic issues some of you were experiencing in the past months. Although some of you may still need to wait some more time, until your ISP DNS servers gets the new DNS information propagated. -

Wonder how it was fairly working (well...more than fairly), with the wrong DNS entries... Yeah, lets wait and see. Just hope it gets up for the big day... -

"Funny" enough I now have stable access from my mobile, but not from the fiber connection at home... Meanwhile my ISP did not even touch the ticket! It is just a matter of "Disruption of Service"... There should be much higher priority tickets to handle at the moment... Dark weekend! -
We don't know the final results yet, but several factors may lead into less expected results. For example: - The Quadbike Used several discontinued parts. Of course I do not see this as a problem, since the designers team could easily replace them by actual ones. Although they may want to make the minimum changes as possible!? Just seen the Quadbike was also selected! Congratulations hrontos! - The Dunechaser - Here I've more insights to talk about, off course. I see many factors that may lead into a "disqualification". I've changed the tires because I believe the Unimog ones fit better. Easy and reasonable change, but they may think differently!? Too much value in a set due to extra PF elements. 1 M-motor, +1 IR Receiver, 2 PF light sets, Eventual replacement of the remote for more expensive one. Although they wanted to see which extra functions were were able to include into the proposal (of course extra functions do not necessarily mean motorized ones). Transparent panels look difficult to produced (don't imagine why as LEGO has to many transparent and even larger parts). - Will show you them soon!... Too many panels in new colors!? 5-6 new blue panels. The 8 in DBG were proposed as optional and could be replaced with existing LBG ones. It may turn difficult to produce 80.000 decorated tires. I admit it, but this would be really the exclusive items they seem to be looking for. It could be also something to drop he it was decided so. The exclusiveness menu was a set of different proposals and possibilities to chose from. Not necessarily all of them. Although the decorated tires are possible to produce, by manual, automatic or semi-automatic means with minimum costs The weight doesn't seem to be as excuse. The Unimog uses the same suspension absorbers and as far more weighting over the suspension and it is also taller. Maybe their trained eye, make them think the model is difficult to build? Something else... All in all we are not those we decide here, neither who knows the motivations behind the hard decisions.
-
I know some other have also received the letter. So far this was not the case for my Dunechaser, and by now I guess it won't be anymore. Don't believe on the weight argument as none of these is worse in that respect, than the Unimog itself. Nevertheless I plan to continue releasing information about some of the Dunechaser details next week, regardless of the result. Wonder why the contest phase #1 is still open for us to vote, if they have already taken the decisions. Congratulations to those getting into the next phase!

technicbricks down?
Conchas replied to daniele's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Hi Guys... Thanks for your concerns and support! This time TechnicBRICKs, is not working for me too!!... Few months ago I've redirected the blogsopt domain to www.technicbricks.com One or two weeks ago I made it to answer also to technicbricks.com At this point it should be reachable from several URLs technicbricks.com www.technicbricks.com www.technicbricks.blogspot.com (or the suffix from your country as it started to happen some months ago - blogspot.xx) Although since a few months I've been reported by some of you about occasional difficulties to reach the website. At first I did not take it too seriously because I never experimented such problems. Although about than two weeks ago I noticed that I was not able to access it through my 3G data card quite often, and then I realized that many times it was also no available trough my cell phone too! (the same mobile operator) With some recent comments at TBs facebook companion page, that's when I realized there must be something really wrong!... Yesterday morning I contacted the support hotline from my domain and hosting provider and they verified the DNS information configured was wrong. dnserver19.esoterica.pt dnserver3.esoterica.pt And replaced it with the correct servers... ns1.esoterica.com 80.172.241.133 ns2.esoterica.com 80.172.241.134 After a few hours it turned into the nightmare you already know, and some DNS diagnostic websites are reporting severe no to say fatal errors... http://www.intodns.com/technicbricks.com The blogspot URL also reports an weird message about the redirect configuration. Of course I could revert it again to blogspot.com immediately, but don't know how fast it would be and this is not the way to solve the issues. It could turn things even worse. So I prefer to wait and try to solve the whole situation rather then remedy it. I also know that some who were not able to access yesterday, they already are again today (e.g in Netherlands) Others in my country (Portugal) were still able to access yesterday night. I've raised a ticket to my provider and I'm waiting some answer, which should happen still over the weekend. However the phone hotline will only become available again, next Monday. It seems the DNS propagation information is not yet complete (far from that) and after +30h this seem quite too much for me... Like Blakbird wrote, it seems "Some ISPs must have the updated DNS information and others do not.". I'll keep you posted about the evolution of this situation. -
Nice job!! Although it looks to me, you have to precisely control the manual movement on the remote lever, to let the gearbox to move only one speed at a time (either up or down). As far as I remember, Sheepo gearboxes do not have this limitation, besides they are larger. Please correct me if I got it wrong.
-
I made several attempts in this direction with near "take-off" results. Although the RC Buggy drain to much power and very soon they considerably decrease speed. The thermal protection on PF batteries doesn't allow the motor to run at full speed for much more than a second or so... Specially because you need a second motor to take control on the rotor speed, otherwise you won't control the copter at all.

New NXT imminent?
Conchas replied to JopieK's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I'd not put much faith on such dreams... -
I agree (to some extent)! Too small for this and for almost everything we could think to build on top of this... I bet it will!

Indeed! Also the doors - a bit everywhere in the model No! Although occasionally I get such question. The blog is hosted by blogger (only the images are external), thus I see little chance to have it down.

TUTORIAL How to resize pictures using MS Paint

Ok thanks! That's what I'm just doing. Was just looking to get a bit more of it, as it is possible to do in some other forums. But if we can't, that's fine ayway! Thanks once more! -
TUTORIAL How to resize pictures using MS Paint
Conchas replied to Lord Of Pies's topic in Forum Information and Help
Hi, I'm sorry if this is not the best place to put this question, but didn't find any better, and thought it was not worthwhile to start a new topic with this. Can anyone tell me if it is possible to resize an image within a post, with some specific commands or parameters in html or BBcodes? Made several attempts and all failed. I know that if I've some large image I should resize it before and post here the resized image to save bandwidth and flickr offers multiple sizes for the uploaded images. But if I've a small image that I want to display a bit larger, or I just want to do a small size adjustment among images, such option would be handy. Thanks! -
Indeed I was to come here to post the latest developments about the Dunechaser, as I do not pretend to force anybody to listen "my own radio". But as usual David arrived first and made a resume for an heads-up. Nevertheless here it goes the full story! In the sequence of my first entry for the LEGO Technic 2012 competition, I had plan to do also an Offroad Quadbike. Although the time is vanishing and each day this turns more and more unlikely to become real. Similar to what was proposed for the Dunechaser tires, one of the ideas I had for the Quadbike was also an exclusive set of specially decorated tires and wheels. For the Quadbike I thought about tires speckled with mud, as it was supposed to run offroad and to use the 9398 4x4 Crawler original balloon tires. I made several tests until I get the desired effect and color. It was first tested with the Unimog tires as they were also that I've chosen for the Dunechaser. From the photos below you can get an idea of what was my intent and the results I've achieved. Since the Dakar Rally was diverted into new paths, countries and terrain conditions, these could somehow also fit into the original Dunechaser. Although I still prefer to see it with Unimog tires. Yeah, I know the tires in use and those in the spares tray, are not the same... didn't have the time to go around this.!... What do you think? Would you prefer the sand and dust dirty version, or the mud speckled ones? The balloon or the straight tires? Additional photos added to the Dunchaser set of photos, at my flickr account. My initial idea included also some sort of vehicle and color schema, where I'd use special orange... chrome wheels (see below), for which I asked the help of a good friend, to arrange some. This was another idea that got behind, because the time available is always too short... Please notice the tires shown above, are custom Hobby RC tires (by Ansmann), and thus not intended for the present competition. Meanwhile I take also the opportunity to show a couple of new renders I did, after the Dunechaser public presentation last week. One with some of the hood panels removed, so one can see the winch behind these. You might remember the Dunechaser features a winch function, where the winch is not attached to the front chassis, but well hidden behind the front grill (open in the render below). As you can notice, the winch module itself is quite identical to the motorized winch on the 8110 U400 Unimog. This and the next renders show also the latest modification I did to the headlights, hopefully a consensual improvement detail. I've changed the 1x1 round plate that mimics the direction blinkers, by a light bulb (58176). They should look a lot better behind the proposed trans-clear panels, because the trans-orange "lamp" gets bigger and more visible. Highlighted you can see also the large trans-clear panels proposed, here used as covers for the headlights. If you have not yet voted for the Dunechaser, what are you waiting for? Please support if you liked the ideas and design proposed. The time is expiring!

New Technic parts!
Conchas replied to Kierna's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
The first part (2x4 liftarm with perpendicular hole) seems quite interesting. As for the last part you shown, I think it is some aftermarket part, to join other gun parts.
