LEGO Ideas Discussion

Those tiny figures are cool, and they fit the scale really well, but I can't help myself from wanting to see full-sized minifigure representations of the astronauts. Maybe the other NASA set will be tweaked to include them. -

What would you like for the next Castle line?
x105Black replied to Robert8's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Well, I guess it goes to show how much people pay attention to 2013. I even have some of these sets, and liked them. But anyways, that faction could continue. Maybe a conflict within the house, with a Crowned Lion vs a Lion, using the and Blue lion color schemes. When it comes to color, I agree. Different colors could be cool. I'd like to see a purple "good" faction, as purple is so often used for "bad" faction. So dark purple. But that goes to my other point. You prefer the brighter colors, but I prefer the dark. So I'm saying I would love more dark orange, dark green, dark brown, dark blue, dark red, and dark grey. Also some tan and dark tan would be nice. And I love the Wolfpack, and I love the Rogue CMF, but I'd like to see a more dark brown, dark red, and black Wolfpack faction. And let them ride Wargs / Dire Wolves... -

Some variety would be nice. There are some factions that would be nice to have fleshed out. For example, the Bear faction that the Frightening Knight is a part of could use some more flavor. The Boar faction that the Evil Knight is a part of could also use some additions, although the Battle Dwarf looks like he might be allied with him. I'm a huge Forestmen fan, so I'd like to see the Stag faction fleshed out. I'd also like to see the Unicorn faction get some more love. That said, I'd personally love a return to the classics with the 1978 factions, or with the Lion, Falcon, and Dragon factions. Lions are a bit overdone, I've suggested Griffins in the past. Maybe it's through a marriage between the Lions and Falcons. Or maybe we could just get a Crowned Lion combining the Crowns and Lions (who I always assumed were the same faction to begin with). -

I like purple, I like grey, I like sand blue. I don't really like how the 3 are combined in this theme. -

I didn't think Galaxy Squad was considered a Big Bang theme. -

But you're from Space, and from what I heard that place is pretty big... That's a great point, but the suit might be fine without them if it is between bricks in a wall. -

True. Unless stated otherwise, everything I say is opinion and subjective. Apologies if it came across as something else. -

Fair enough. I apologize if my own comments hurt any of the designers. I also appreciate not only the work that the designers do, but also the effort to create something new, different, and exciting. While in my own opinion I found it to be misguided, there is clearly an audience for these products, and the concept or stepping outside of the comfort zone to create something a little more unique has got to be admired. Every theme has its fan-base, and I am saddened to hear that any fan is having their theme taken away. Hopefully something even better can emerge to fill the void left by this theme. -
That's how I'm choosing to see it.

I don't feel bad for Mark Stafford, because in his job he excelled. I'm operating on the understanding that his job was not to come up with the Nexo Knights theme, but to design sets that fit within that theme. The sets were very well designed for the theme, it was the theme itself that many people didn't like. Continuing with Nexo Knights was a disaster. They needed to rework their original concept, but when the designers hear these complaints they are like: I don't think these complaints make Nexo Knights seem any more hated than before. I think that these are people who haven't complained since the reveal and launch of the theme finally speaking up again after a year and a half and, yes, "rejoicing in its demise." It's not any one factor, but a combination. Many AFOLs didn't care for Nexo Knights, so that's one point. Nexo Knights precluded any Castle or Space themes, which didn't sit well with the biggest fans of those themes, the AFOLs, so that's another point. Put those together and it amplifies. The total is greater than the sum of its parts. Still, even I would be upset if Nexo Knights didn't complete its run. Mostly because there is the occasional attractive minifigure in these sets, and they provided plenty of new and interesting parts. I'm still looking forward to a Lord Krackenskull minifigure and a redeemed Jestro minifigure, to name a couple. -

Fair enough. Hopefully it will reinforce the idea that fans want more Castle sets. -

I'm so excited that this Idea is so close. If it get's through, it will need changes to make it feasible. Most notably, it will likely need a reduced piece count and an interior. Still, seeing something that looks like it could be in a Castle theme get so close to 10k is encouraging. -

Castle has the same problem, where there are 2 warring factions and not enough of the civilians (miners would be fine for Castle as well). That's why I'd love to see Castle and Space both return with multiple factions and civilians. Mix it up a bit.- 991 replies

Maybe they learned their lesson? I will likely buy at least some part of a Castle theme, even if it is just like 2013, if only to help boost sales. I actually didn't have a problem with 2013, I bought a good few of those sets. I loved the Dragon Army in black and red. The only thing that would have made them better would have been the classic styled heraldry and a darker red. Nexo Knights Ash Attacker fit pretty well with those soldiers, too. -
The Future of Lego Space. (opinions, ideas, discussion)
x105Black replied to Trekkie99's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
I find City to be boring as well, for the same reasons. But the general population lacks imagination and creativity, therefore rooting a theme in something they know means that they can relate. Aside from that, others just like City because most stories are told in present day. There are also many fans of superheroes, and City acts as a nice supplement to Marvel and DC storytelling. Back to the topic, I'm a much bigger fan of Classic Space. I'd love to see something like what was described above, a hybrid Space theme. Put Classic Space, M-Tron, Blacktron, and Space Police together in a theme as different factions and have them interact. That could be really cool.- 991 replies

Count me in! I'd buy a lot of black and dark grey Brick Suits! That way, I can make it look like people are embedded in my castle walls!
