  1. A mashup of Classic Castle and Kingdoms would be cool. I like the more nuanced and evolved Kingdoms subtheme, but I am also fond of the Classic Castle (1978) factions. In Kingdoms there was a Black Falcon knight a little while ago, and that was a nice update to the design. I'd love to see that concept applied to Classic Castle. Anything up to the Dragon Masters era would be nice. That was the first Castle subtheme that I thought was a little too much.
  2. I largely agree with this analysis. I think that if LEGO's language is calling them "evergreen," then they consider that theme a mainstay. If they are calling Castle, Space, Pirates, and Town "evergreen," then those themes are likely to return in some form, which could be a licensed theme taking up that slot. In that sense, I can understand the consternation of Space fans as long as Star Wars is around. But also, us fans can take it as a nod to the classic themes we want to see, that they're not really going anywhere. But while a lot of Star Wars ship sets can provide parts for Space fans, sometimes the "cycle" differs wildly from the original evergreen theme and you get Nexo Knights in place of Castle. Nexo Knights is more of a mash-up of Castle and Space. I would have much preferred a mash-up of Castle and Pirates, I think those properties could work much better together.
  3. This is a really well done crow! I love the attention to detail on the tail, talons, and beak. The overall design and size of the thing are also great features.
  4. True, Galaxy Squad is not Classic Space. But Space is a classic theme, and Galaxy Squad is the latest incarnation of said theme.
  5. Fair enough. 13 Modulars. The point remains the same though in regards to a 10 year anniversary, and change coming in a new era afterwards.
  6. Exactly. It's celebrating the Brick. But it's the 40th anniversary of the minifigure. Maybe in 10 years we can expect a nice remake for the 50th.
  7. That's probably true. Yeah, I noticed the tan lipstick. Good call on the life ring. And yes, it's a brilliant song.
  8. I find it interesting. So they did 10 Modulars with the classic faces, including the celebratory 10th. So now, entering a new era of Modulars we have these newer faces, so it feels appropriate. Also, I remember when I was a child and got my first Castle and Pirates sets with new, different faces, and how it opened up a whole new world of LEGO for me. But 2018 is also the year to celebrate the classics, and is the 40th anniversary of the minifigure. In that sense, you would expect to get a classic smile, especially in a line that has traditionally been made up of those classic faces. So, while I'm excited about the new direction that the Modulars are taking, I also expected at least 1 classic smile face in the set, even as an alternate face. I'm also apprehensive about the possibility of future Modulars having really nice, exclusive minifigures. I appreciate the fact that most minifigures in these sets are made up of fairly common parts. This means they are easy to find and obtain cheaply. If they start putting out exclusive figures in these sets valued in the $150 range, the secondary market will attach a premium to them and make them very difficult to obtain. This is a negative thing. So I hope that doesn't happen.
  9. I'd like some Snake Clown instructions or a parts list, if anyone has one:
  10. Fair enough. I suppose when it comes to historical accuracy you really need to be accurate. The Elf Maiden looks fine for me, and the dress is quite beautiful and not quite as Disney as it could have been, but I can see how the lack of accuracy can hinder a historic build. In that sense, they should really have a "Castle" minifigure and a "Historic" minifigure in each series. I'd say that's probably true for most series, but not always. Often, the Historic minifigure could be medieval, but it will sometimes be from a different period like the Greek or Roman eras (like the 2 different Gladiators released so far).
  11. That's the cape I like to use. Never been into the fabric much.
  12. Yeah, I have mixed feelings on the micro Castle. I love that they're throwing the Castle, Space, and Pirates fans a little something. I just wish it was something better. I'm not into micro scale, so it's fairly useless to me. I would have loved a tiny build representing each that had a minifigure. I am excited about the teal, or dark turquoise, or whatever color it is. I like new color options, and that one has always appealed to me. I had a few of the Mars sets from back in the day, and loved the color then. Not too jazzed about the brick-built dragon, but I like that a Dragon / Ogre / Spider is on their radar. Looks like a decent assortment of dark red LEGO though.
  13. This is awesome. I love the concept. I have been collecting dinosaurs and such to include in my Castle builds as well, they fit in so nicely. You've done a great job on every aspect of this build. I particularly love the use of the barrels on the dewback.
  14. So far, Castle is in the lead. I'm heavily in support of Castle, so it excites me to see this.
  15. It looks like they do have a deal with Hasbro to create products based on the series, but I'm not sure if that's exclusive or not. It would be a perfect fit for a minidoll theme. My nieces would both love it, and I'd love buying it for them. I'd also probably enjoy much of the product line myself, even if most of my purchases would come through Bricks & Pieces or the secondary market.
  16. Glad to hear it! Looking forward to seeing how it turns out, and to having one in my home!
  17. I'm not at all surprised. Nor am I disappointed. I will be buying one of these.
  18. It's a nifty set, but I'm not really into micro-scale. I'd have preferred a minifigure scale set, even if it was just a small part of the yellow Castle with 1 minifigure.
  19. That's probably true. I'm hoping we will see some leaks soon, but I highly doubt we'll get anything tangible for a while as we are all still waiting on the second set of LEGO Batman minifigures to hit shelves in about a month.
  20. Very happy to see that the Diner is real. I love the design and concept. I also love the use of modern heads in place of the simple smile, though I do feel that at least 1 simple smile would have been nice to include.
  21. Nice build! Looks like the real thing. I can imagine the sounds it could make. Unfortunately, not being real, it would actually just sound like 'clack clack clack.' Also, I love your Moebius avatar.
  22. Same goes for Castle.
