LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 15 Rumors and Discussion
x105Black replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I'd rather the Shark Suit Guy just have arms, I think the fins would look too awkward. I could be wrong, they might do them well. The Tribal Girl would be great. It sounds like the type of figure that would fit in well with Forestmen. I'm mostly excited about the idea of the Satyr. Hoping for leaks soon. -
I hope he has legs, actually. It's not often we get a minifigure with gold legs.
-
Gold Wizard? What hat was he using, the old Majisto hat? That's good news to me. Can't wait to find images, as this sounds like one minifigure in this line that might be worth having.

Should new castles have (raised) blaseplates?
x105Black replied to Artifex's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Only if you have a mountain of other bricks! Some are indeed difficult to re-use, but most are fairly easy. They fit in with the color and thematic schemes of Castle for the most part. But I understand that not everyone wants to use them. -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 15 Rumors and Discussion

How early did we get leaks for the Monsters? Hopefully we get some leaks for this new series soon. The wait is intolerable. But at least we 'know' what a few of them will be! -
Absolutely. This is a no-brainer. I've spent a considerable amount more on BrickLink this year than on actual LEGO sets, and I've purchased more than 2 $100 sets. I would prefer to spend that money at the LEGO Store. Buing from the Pick-A-Brick Wall would be better as well, but they don't tend to have the pieces I am looking for (basically lots of small Grey plates). Now they take up so much room on the wall with those Pick-A-Models, it's unlikely I'll see what I want there for a while.

You mean the horns?

Lego Minifigures Series 15 Guessing Game
x105Black replied to Itaria No Shintaku's topic in Special LEGO Themes
That's what I would hope for. -
I would imagine that Lord of the Rings would have been in the Licensed themes, but that's another story altogether. Are the Nexo Knights Library and Jestro's steamroller going to be in a second wave, much like the Carriage and Castle in Elves? And will there be an actual Merlock in the Library or just another sticker Hologram?

What would you like for the next Castle line?
x105Black replied to Robert8's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
That's a really good point. Smaller sets with Knights using new or updated Heraldry, and lots of plates, tiles, SNOT bricks, etc, and interesting, useful, and unique pieces could be great for Castle AFOLs. -
75827 Ghostbusters Firehouse Headquarters Discussion

Glad to hear that the Ghostbusters are the new versions with arm printing, but as the person above, I was kind of hoping for this: From the Real Ghostbusters animated series. Would be cool. Maybe they'll do that in another set in the future? -

Still betting it will be the Satyr. -
What would you like for the next Castle line?
x105Black replied to Robert8's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I made a post earlier about my dreams for the Castle theme. In that thread, I failed to mention that I would love to see world mythology incorporated. I think a few building styles, armor, weapons, creatures, and other mythological things from around the world could be incorporated into this. I would love to see a new Castle theme, and hope that one comes out soon! -
Nice! This. I'm glad there are people excited about this theme. As I said before, there are things that I may like, but I will have to wait for more detailed images to be sure and will probably buy them on the secondary market. Looking forward to the official pictures, hopefully sooner than later.

Heroica would actually be a great idea for a theme. I would love to see that. It's like LEGO D&D. I would hope that this group of heroes would travel to different Kingdoms, like those of the Black Falcons, the Dragons, and other Classic Castle Factions. Interactions with civilians, Forestmen and Wolfpack would be amazing. -
Should new castles have (raised) blaseplates?
x105Black replied to Artifex's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I like the old raised baseplates. I have a couple of them, and plan to get a few more. I'd like to see at least a couple new Castle sets using them, as I'm sure they would be even better than they were in the 80's and 90's with new pieces and techniques. Make them out of better materials so they stand the test of time and play better. Maybe they should also start making baseplates that are as thick as a plate, to reduce the height discrepancy. -
What would you like for the next Castle line?
x105Black replied to Robert8's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I'd like to see a combination of all the best things from Castle and similar lines from the past, with a few new things and updates. Basically Classic 80's - 90's Castle with elements of Fantasy Era, Fright Knights, and Lord of the Rings. Here's my (ridiculously improbable) list: Factions Multiple Kingdoms (Updated Black Falcons and Dragons preferred, possibly also Lions and New Heraldry, or 1978 reimagined) Forestmen (Human Rangers, possibly Elves as well, in moderation) Wolfpack (Human Rogues and Thieves) Evil Fantasy (Trolls, Goblins, and Orcs) Structures Castles (1 for each Kingdom) Strongholds (Multiple Forts and Fortresses) Towers (Perhaps a Magic Tower) Wooded Outpost (For Forestmen) Wolfpack Den (For the Wolfpack, obviously) Civilian Locations (Marketplace, Blacksmith, Butcher, Baker, Mill, Farm, Inn, Tavern) Vehicles Carriages (Royal, Military, and Civilian) Merchant Carts (Trading Carts and Carriages) Sea Vessels (War Ships, Merchant Boats) War Chariots (Military) Siege Engines (Nothing too silly) Creatures (Full Molds) Dragons (Not Brick-built) Wolves (Ride-able like Wargs, and normal dog types) Deer (Made like Horses with interchangeable antlers) Unicorns (With horns in the head, not in armor on the head) Pegasus (Using the new Wings from Friends) Gryphons (Maybe inspires a new Faction to replace the Lions, size of old Dragons) Centaurs (Minifigure Torsos attach) Horses (with Barding and Armor) Characters Kings (Plural) Royalty (Queens, Princes, Princesses) Magic Users (Wizards, Witches, Sorcerers, Sorceresses, Druids) Knights (Various Factions and Heraldry, not Jellybeans defending 1 King) Soldiers (Guards, Warriors) Raiders (Brigands, Bandits, Assassins, Thieves) Fantasy Races (Elves and Dwarves, in moderation) Evil Races (Trolls, Goblins, and Orcs, in moderation) Equipment Swords (Broadswords, Cutlasses, Knives, etc, all Metallic or Pearled Greys) Shields (Updated Classic Heraldry, Variety of Shield Molds like Classic, CMF Egyptian, Round, Rectangle, etc) Armor (Classic Mold, new Prints, Heraldry not needed on Armor) Archery (Bows and Quivers, preferably in Black and Dark Brown) Crossbows (Classic and New) Colors Dark Colors, not Bright Dark Brown Dark Grey Dark Green Dark Red Dark Blue Dark Purple Chrome Gold Coins I know, that's asking a lot. I think they could do a lot with this, though, and release this stuff over several waves. Introduce a few Factions to start and build out from there. 1st Wave: Small Civilian Carriage - Raided by Wolfpack on Wolf-back. Gryphon Knight defender. Civilian Blacksmith - Small, 2 story building. Blacksmith is maybe a Dwarf. Supplying Black Falcon soldiers. Joust - Medium set with Black Falcon, Dragon, and Gryphon Knights in a friendly joust. A fourth Faction would be welcomed. Forestmen's Outpost - Forestmen with attacking Goblins. Possible Elf allies. Gryphon Castle - Gryphon Royalty and Wizard with attacking Goblins and Bigfig Troll. Ride-able Gryphon included. I went small on wave 1 with only 5 sets. I could see additional small or medium sized sets and army builders. The next wave could expand upon that by adding a Black Falcon Stronghold, a Sorcerer's Tower, a Dragon Castle with Dragon, etc. I think it would do really well, appeal to a broad fan-base, and even appeal to children. It could even tie-in with a new TV show, think Game of Thrones or D&D for kids. Also, each year, there should be an Ultimate set that is comparable to the Modular Buildings we see each year for the City theme. I know, this is way beyond wishful thinking, but I wanted to be thorough. I probably still left some things out. -
That's really sad, what with all of the minidolls and cutesy elements. This is obviously made for boys while that is obviously made for girls. Where's a gender neutral Castle theme?
-
I haven't seen Merlock myself. I'd like to know more, as well. I'm hoping it's the classic hat. I'm betting, however, that it has some silly logo plastered onto it.

Liked it so much, I watched a bunch more! I love how charming these videos are. You really do a good job at bringing out the character of these old sets. It works especially well with the Pirates sets, they all have a fresh, airy feel. I'd love to see you tackle some of the older castles in the Castle theme. Your work in that area was limited, but still very nice.

This is a fantastic build. I love the idea of a tavern where the pirates can gather to drink their ale. There's lots of attention to detail here, something happening in every square inch of this place. I really like the way the walls were done, nice stuff. Good job!
-
I really like this one. I love to see what the pirates do when they come ashore. This has all of the charm of an early pirates set. Nicely done!

He didn't know he was being lied to at the time. Or maybe the employee had only heard that same misinformation, based on preliminary concepts. I doubt there were even pictures or real details available at that time. Presumably, it was just in-house rumors and discussion about the plans for 2016. Conjecture from an entire year early isn't likely to pan out as predicted.

That was the most entertaining video review I've seen. And I'm glad it was for this set, one of my all-time favorite sets. It really brought me back to 1989! Great job! Really clever and fun!

I'd love to see a nice big fortress like the Eldorado Fortress from 1989. I have such fond memories of building and playing with that set. I think it could be much improved when made with today's standards. I'd also love to see a nice civilian port like Tortuga from the Pirates of the Caribbean movies. There are always plenty of pirates and soldiers, but never enough regular people. A civilian merchant vessel could also fill this gap, but I prefer structures over vehicles. Both would be even better. I'd also like to see a much bigger Shipwreck than the on released for the 2015 wave. The concept is great. A return of the Islanders would be a fantastic move as well. I was a huge fan of that theme, and would love to see it return. I think they proved with the Island Warrior collectible minifigure that this theme could be reimagined better than it ever was. I think a Pirates series would do really well on television (as would a Castle series). If they really took the time to develop it, the great characters, iconic locations, and unique vessels would all be a hit. And if they did, they wouldn't have to rely on their typical color coded characters (I don't think they really need to as it is). I wouldn't put it past them. I'll call it now that 2017 will see a sci-fi future Pirates theme. Ultro Pirates.
