Lego Nexo Knights TV Series Discussion
x105Black replied to DuckBricks's topic in LEGO Media and Gaming
It looks juvenile, which I guess is what you would expect from something like this. Unfortunately for me, it lacks the appeal of the best 80's cartoons, which some seem to feel that it resembles. While I definitely remember some cartoons being cheesy from time to time, this is just a bit too over the top for my tastes. Some elements are pretty cool, but in my opinion it's just too goofy and silly. -
Fair enough. I grew up on 80's cartoons and LEGO sets as well. I don't think this has the appeal of either, personally. I think that the goofy cartoony wackiness of this theme is a little childish, not the age recommendations on those 2 sets. I apologize, however, for my continued cynicism and vitriol. I have been harsh on this theme and will try to temper my criticisms of Nexo Knights in the future. Perhaps moving this to it's logical location in Action / Adventure would help with the overall disdain seen in this forum. A lot of people actually do want to see a mash-up of Castle and Space, for some reason, and I am actually glad that they are finally getting a theme that caters to those interests. I'm just sore that it seems to be coming at the expense of a Castle theme, which is what I imagine most people here in the Historic themes forum would want.
-
Because it's gimmicky and childish? Those are the reasons I didn't like Fright Knights very much, and since I don't like this one much I'd guess it's the same reasons. I liked the color scheme of Fright Knights, and the fact that it was a Castle theme. It was a bit too wacky, though, and I think this fits that bill.

True, she is quite bland, but it's better than covering her in Sci-fi accoutrements in my opinion.
-
My only guess on the girl, since she's near the King and Queen, is that maybe she's a younger Princess? And is Robin a Prince?
-
Well that's good, the King has a gold crown instead of a blue one in that picture. Actually, that looks like a much better King than in the trailer. Who's the little girl? Also, wow, that sword is hilariously oversized. But the King's sword looks pretty cool.
-
The villagers look like the best looking minifigures: At least they look somewhat medieval (well the guy still looks kinda Tron-like with that color scheme and the lines). I doubt there will be any civilian sets, though.
-
I'd imagine the second wave will be priced similarly to how the Elves second wave was priced I doubt the new visors will appear elsewhere. The visors in Knights Kingdom 2 didn't make it out of that theme. But you may be right, there could be a new helmet piece in a Castle theme that works well with them later. That would be nice. .
-
That does look like Vitruvius' beard on Merlok 2.0: And I really like the Book that comes with Fortrex: Even better than the other one! Just don't want to buy Fortrex to get it. I don't see how they could, since it's both a Science Fiction theme and a Big Bang / Action theme. It's only Castle in a superficial way. But yeah, they probably might. I mean, they thought this theme was a good idea, so they'd probably think it was Castle, too...
-
Merlok 2.0 could be a cool minifigure, though. I liked the Gold Ninja in Ninjago, and a Pearl Gold Wizard would be nice to have as well. Both would make great statues in a treasure room. And if he has that staff, that would be nice. But why in blue? Silver would have been awesome.
-
Or maybe it will be returned to the Library in the possession of Merlok 2.0 and a new threat will emerge from elsewhere.
-
I wouldn't mind these helmets: I like the metal parts, it's a nice touch. But I think all helmets in this style will be solid colors. The bright blue just doesn't work for me. And of course they re-use the CMF King Crown and Beard: But again, in a blue that just doesn't work. I really can't wait for the next Castle theme, I hope some of the more useful parts from this series get used in a more useful way when that time finally comes.
-
I'd like a Jestro before he becomes evil: And not too keen on most of the visors: Lance's might still be cool, though. The others are too sparse (red & green knights), too bulky and specific (yellow knight), or too sport / American football (blue knight). The heads aren't bad, although I don't really like the lip color on Macy. The cartoon itself looks cheesy. Like bad Castle mixed with Sci-fi. Like Visionaries meets Tron in a bad way. Merlok 2.0. Nuts, I really wish they'd spend this type of energy making a Castle theme. It would be so good if they did. Instead we get this mess.

Of course she is. Same. Very Space / Sci-fi. Exactly. Not exactly. I completely agree with this. The Knights look too futuristic, unfortunately. I want to see the Knights with their visors down. That way I could see if the visors will be useful or not. It looks like Lance's and Macy's might be. There are a few pieces and minifigures that look good, but I don't really feel compelled to buy any sets. Jestro looks like the awful spawn of the Joker and Harley Quinn. The best looking minifigures come with the worst sets (the villain in Fortrex, Macy in the Pac-Man Podracer, and Lance in, well, either of the sets he's in). The Book is a cool piece, though. I hope the parts I like will be on the secondary market at a nice low price.

Which lego hair piece best matches your real hair?
x105Black replied to Bingo Little's topic in Community
Actually, it's more of a dirty blond. The Dark Orange is definitely too red for my hair, but the Tan isn't dark enough. I have a friend with reddish-blond hair, and I can agree with your assessment as far as his hair is concerned. That's a tough color to match.
