LEGO Collectable Minifigures Future Series Rumours
x105Black replied to r4-g9's topic in Special LEGO Themes
These sketches are awesome. Thanks for sharing! There's a lot to delve into there, it's cool to see their process and how things evolve. -
That Nymphadora minifigure looks nice. Hopefully that gets released.

I'm not really sure how to reconcile these statements. The Castle dragons and Smaug are very nicely done. I actually find them to be superior to the molded dinosaurs when it comes to movement, and on par when it comes to visual appeal. Brick-built creatures always look more blocky.

The large dragons from Castle are a good compromise, as they are still built out of various pieces but they aren't blocky and bricky.

Someone mentioned they were a bit stingy on animal molds, but I think we've gotten some good ones. Unfortunately we've gotten some that are only partial molds as well, like heads for brick-built bodies, but hopefully more molds for animals will be used in future waves.

It's probably a good time to update this thread as well. The original post is a bit outdated for Book III.

No problem. And for the record, I love that you made a family of Catfolk. You've inspired me to bring some of my own Chima heads into play. -

I would love this homage to classic cinema. -
They still might! Castle 2013 had cameos in the first movie, and that was just about on its way out at the time.

Book III - Varlyrio: Guild sign-up and Discussion
x105Black replied to Rogue Angel's topic in Guilds of Historica
Indeed. This is thorough. There's also this bit in the New Member Guide that I found interesting: "Can I join Valyrio? No, not at this moment. That guild is available for anyone to build in, but it does not have an open membership." I imagine an update is probably already in the works. So I have commented on as many Varlyrian builds as I could find, and I think it's important for us to be able to support each other in this way. That said, I wonder if perhaps there could be a thread that acts as an index of Varlyrian builds / threads. Something without as much conversation, just a place for people like myself to look and see if I have missed anything while away from my keyboard. It would also help to act as a compendium of Varlyrian building styles and techniques. Thoughts? -
I love the colors used here. The orange and blue contrast really well, and I really like the rooftop of the blue building. The worn walls on the orange building are well done, and the white details on the blue building are well placed. I love all of the plants, and I love how the stone was done to imply a water line. I also love how the structure in the back is angled and almost hidden behind the foreground, and I like how the stone streets were done. Great stuff!

Stowaways - The Lion's Eye Chapter 2 - Varlyrio GC2A

Nice bustling city build! There's a lot to see here, and fortunately there's a nice continuation of the story! I like the use of the netting on the boat. I also like the stonework on the tan building, and the design on the other building looks great with the rotated tiles and sand green walls. The garage-style roof up top is a nice touch. I think you did justice to the inspirational image you based it on. Great job!- 20 replies

Interesting backstory. I like the idea of this bastard son coming back to take over the family that once rejected him. The build is nice as well. I like the SNOT techniques used for the stone, and the water is well done. Good job!

I like the bookshelf in the Abelie build, and her character seems very interesting. Pardo is a nice character design, I like the idea of an artist. The use of the stickered tile for a painting is awesome, and I like the stool design. Stena looks like a great knight, and I absolutely love that visor for medieval characters. Kass looks as much a scoundrel as he sounds. Nice piece usage with the water in the barrels, and the stonework on the base looks adequately worn. Overall, this is a nice introduction to the family, and I'm looking forward to more from them. I like the descriptions quite a bit, and the building techniques used are simple but effective. And I agree with you about the usage of the head pieces. Most Chima characters actually look better like this. Good work! -
This is an interesting design for a tower. The open ground level is really cool. I also like all of the minifigures on display here. The jail cell is nice, and quite fitting. Nice job!

Like others, I like how you've used the hair pieces as hides. That's a great idea. I also love the door, and I love how it is actually functional. Builds with interiors are always great, and this one does not disappoint. Good build! -
I love this design. The colors work really well here, and the placement of the buildings is great. I really like the fountain, the windows, and I like the top of the tan tower. Good stuff!
-
Solid build here. I like how you went with the light grey bricks by the windows, it helps to break up the color. The imp over the doorway is awesome. This place sounds like a great location for all sorts of nefarious activity. Nicely done!
-
This is a really interesting structure. I like the asymmetry of it, and the color scheme with the gold works nicely. I also like the doors, and it's great to see things here that have full interiors. Good job!
-
I love how old and overgrown this feels. It's a great design, and it implies there is so much more to see than what is shown. I really like the transparent blue windows. Nice work!
-
The organ is nice, but you know that. I like the simplicity of the build with the masonry profile bricks. But what I really like is the character and his pose, pointing towards the map. Well done!
-
This is fantastic! As a huge fan of the Quest for Glory series, I absolutely love it. You've really captured the look and feel of Spielburg (from the VGA Point and Click remake). I love the small details like the scissors on the barber shop, the doorknobs, and the collection of things on the left side. The little statues are really well done, and the use of studs for texture on the stone walls is awesome. The character is a great representation of the hero as well! Great job!

I do expect to see Mad Max / Post-Apocalyptic minifigure designs in the series, though. -
Cartoons you liked nobody else remembers.

You reminded me of a good one. Bionic Six! That was a great cartoon, and nobody ever remembers it!
