  1. Bucket Wheel Excavator - The leading cause for kidney donations around the world
  2. I'm saving money for this monstrous behemoth. It's really strange that when I first learned of this set I was like "Not in a million years will I buy this. The Claas is cheaper and just as cool", and now I'm like "I've gotta buy this at all cost. The Claas is nowhere as cool as this".
  3. Not sure if Markus based these measurements on any real BWE, or he just cooked them up
  4. The BWE even has a sticker describing itself with various specifications: http://www.hobbymedia.it/img/2016/01/lego-technic-bucket-wheel-excavator-4.jpg
  5. To push things even wilder, as Lego does this year, my guess is that MK IV will be a clock tower.
  6. Remember when the MB Arocs was released, everyone was marveling at it and wondering how can TLG outdo themselves in the following year. Now they have indeed outdone themselves with the BWE. So if you're wondering how can TLG outdo this BWE, I think you can rest assured; they definitely will next year.
  7. At first sight I thought "No way I'm going to buy this expensive, heavy, time-consuming, place-consuming set like this!" But for some unknown reasons it started to grow on me, and now I thought "If I have enough money I may buy this; it increases the diversity of my collection and is indeed a nice addition". I'm also a sucker for big sets
  8. Sorry my bad I thought Jaguar 980 was a car and some dude just mistook this thread for the Porsche supercar thread
  9. How do you hang the cargo plane btw? Strings under the fuselage and under the wings? At least if you hang the BWE, the base won't be under pressure from the turret, and the bucket wheel arm won't bend because of gravity
  10. You can't, because you need some of this http://brickset.com/sets/containing-part-4514557 . 42009 doesn't have any of it.
  11. This thread reminds me of the beginning of 2015 when I first got back to Lego Technic. 42009 is my second set out of my dark age. The first is a used 8070. At first sight this set reminds me of the studded version 8460 in 2002. I craved it so much back then that when I saw the 42009 I knew I've got to have it. Local toy stores in Vietnam were selling it at about 390 EUR. I knew it was kinda rip-off but I still bought it anyway. It blown me away with its sheer size and mechanical complexity. Although from the aesthetic perspective it isn't very appealing, nor does it have any realistic details like the 42043, 42009 still remains one of my favorite sets.
  12. I'm still very, very sad at the way Volvo EW160E turns out. When will I have a truly complex, 1H / 2H flagship-level Wheel Excavator... *sigh*
  13. 42009 can match BWE's height with crane fully erected. As for 8110 and 8258, prepare to see them dwarfed
  14. i think TLG has taken up another standard this year, which is making the feature: the switch change the direction of a function (like in 42042) instead of changing functions. This feature appears in the Xerion and the BWE. I think we can expect to see this again in 2H 2017.
  15. I've just built the 42042 B model, and I realize that this BWE is at most as high as it. The turret of the Mobile Tower Crane is already 70 studs tall, while its base is 9 studs tall. As for the BWE, its base is about 10 studs tall and the turret 40 studs tall. If you guys can store the Mobile Tower Crane then you'll have no problem storing this monstrosity.

  17. Putting the battery box in the place of panels will lead to: - The realism of the model is reduced. In reality, rectangular cement or rock panels are put there. - The model will have no panels for the B-model.
  18. So the BWE will be about 50L high. That's approximately the same width as the Mobile Crane MK II. When I come home I'll put the MK II upright to see how high it is.
  19. Does anyone has the count in studs/modules of: - The length, width, and height of the base (width not counting the tracks) - The height of the turret (not counting the base) - The length of the arm from the bucket wheel to the battery box Many thanks!
  20. 1) One axle goes down and then up again to drive the lower conveyor belt (the one that can be turned manually) 2) One axle goes down to turn the whole super structure 3) One axle goes way down to the base to drive the two tracks that are connected to one axle. But, but, but, the presenter said "included"
  21. At 2:39, the end of the video, I heard that "we do have another instruction included for a second model". ALL HAIL THE LEGO GROUP (/' ')/ TLG \(' '\)
  22. If 4000 parts are in a single bag then there is even no need for bag. Lego just dumps the whole thing into the box and seal it haha.
