  1. A more simple way to do this change is to put the 12z - 20z in step 14, then 8z - 24z later:
  2. One thing that bothers me is that when the hatch fully opens, I have to turn the switch back to neutral position, or else the fans will stop spinning. So in step 14, I replace the clutch gear with the normal 24z gear: while in step 20 I use two clutch gears instead. I tested this out and found out that the clutch gear on the wheel retraction side was too weak that it slips before moving the wheel. The clutch gear on the VTOL side does slip too just not as often. So totally NOT recommend this MOD.
  3. Say what you will, but I think the hybrid gearbox in 42070 is ingenious, because it solves multiple problems at the same time: - For RC models, the number of functions often depends on the number of motors, as evidenced by the most recent ones 8275, 9398, 42030, 42065. The 8043 is an exception because it has 6 functions with only 4 motors, but the general rule still holds. And since PF components are more costly than other components, having too many of them will drive the cost up. Now this 42070 is also a RC but has 6 functions with only 2 motors. That to me is a revolution. - The multi-directional gearbox might be more intuitive to use, but it also takes up more space. With the traditional multi-functional gearbox, 1 switch corresponds to 2 functions. With the multi-directional gearbox, 1 switch corresponds to 1 functions. Now this 42070 has 4 non-movement functions (outriggers, swiveling, raising arms, winch), and how many switch does it have for them? 1 switch (excluding the other mode-controlling switch). By leaving the task of changing directions to the remote control, the gearbox takes up much much less space. That to me is a revolution. I expect to see more of this implementation in the future. - This model to me is not a RC set with 4 additional functions, it's a usual 4-function set with additional RC driving and steering. And that makes all the difference. Because whenever I show my models and their functions to my friends, the first thing they'd often ask is "is it RC driveable". When I say "No, but it has these cool functions" their enthusiasm falters a bit. But for this one I'll be able to say "Yes yes it totally does too". On another note, am I the only one who has been waiting for a flagship that is not designed by either Markus or Uwe?
  4. It's interesting that since the debut of the new gear shifting elements they have not been used with driving ring extensions in official sets.
  5. Yes the model use 4 of the small turntables, 2 for each axle.
  6. Portal axles: Yes with absolute certainty. Ball joints: No with high certainty, because the rear wheels use pendular suspensions.
  7. Why do you think the designer is Alfred Pederson? And the 42070 has UW or U UU in the grill, shouldn't its designer be Uwe Wabra instead?
  8. Yeah now I take a closer look at 42069 I realize it has some cool realistic details: remote reservoir, 4 fuel cans, spare sprocket, spare tracks, butterfly doors. I think I'll get this set, but replace all the yellow parts with black ones.
  9. M motor -> worm gear -> 24z clutch gear -> 12z bevel gear -> gear rack
  10. To me 42068 will be fantastic if it has 2 panels to cover its top :<
  11. Or maybe we can just wait until 2018 when there are a successor for the Porsche and a non-RC flagship with a higher part count, a lower price, and a more functionally complex design. I don't know what you guys think but I've always thought that the successor of the Porsche will not be 1 year right behind it.
  12. I don't think this 1800 RC is gonna be 220$. BWE is already 280$ and 230 EUR, and the 42070's MSRP in EUR is already 250 EUR. I think the 42070's MSRP in US will be 290$.
  13. I think the fact that 2H sets this year are underwhelming because of the part count of the 42070. The flagship is supposed to have the largest part count of that year, and the 42070 only has 1800 pcs. And I think large RC models can't have part count go past 2000, because that would drive the cost up.
  14. The 42069 Extreme Adventure is 129.99 Eur, so it should be in a lower tier.
  15. As a person who prioritize display value, I want a set that I can look at it and marvel at how realistic this detail is or how well designed this function is. Too bad I feel that the three 2H sets have very little of it. The fire truck seems to have most display value among them, but its level is still lower than those of my other sets. If I'm to buy one of the 2H sets I'll get the fire truck, with reservation.
  16. I think it's a fake gearbox, because there's no gear shifting elements in any of the three sets.
  17. I think the functions are winch and butterfly doors, like those in 8070. You can see the door open up diagonally and there's a 6L tow ball beam pushing it up. Or perhaps there is adjustable height as well.
  18. I believe the blue in 42070 is Dark Azure, the shade of the new Gali in Bionicle. Regular blue: #2 from the right Dark blue: #1 from the right Medium blue (Jet's blue): #5 from the left Dark azure (Tow Truck's blue): #3 from the right Medium azure (Drag Racer's blue): #4 from the right
  19. Indeed, the blue in the truck is a brighter shade.
  20. I asked him a similar question a few days ago on Youtube. He said I'll have to wait a few months for an answer to that question. Which means you'll have to wait too.
  21. Yeah I think 42068 is probably like 8280. The general idea is that the A model and B model are supposed to be in the same theme. And since 42069 has tracks its B model must have tracks. And it's not gonna be a tank or racer or construction equipment. So arctic truck again ~~~ Even the word "truck" starts to sound weird to me.
  22. For the B models my guess is that - 42068: A 4-wheel fire truck and a 2-wheel trailer with the hose. - 42069: Another arctic truck with tracks... - 42070: A flat bed recovery truck. Trucks, trucks everywhere.
  23. The fact that they chose not to release it as a stand-alone product already means they have their reasons.
  24. Can you elaborate on how pendular suspension is better than spring suspension
