  1. If it is PF upgradable wouldn't it be weird to have one function of the arm motorized and the other one not?
  2. Well I don't think the transmission would be an issue if the motor is in the undercarriage. Just need to route one axle from the undercarriage to the superstructure, since only one function can be selected at a time in the superstructure. Meanwhile, rotating the superstructure and extending outriggers can be done right in the undercarriage. The problem would be the wire. In 42009 and 42042 the motors are in the superstructure and the wires are barely long enough to connect to the battery boxes. If the motor is in the undercarriage it's the wiring that gets needlessly complex.
  3. Since the motorized rotation is put in the undercarriage, the large gear ring must be attached to the superstructure.
  4. You mean it is likely or not likely to be PR upgradable?
  5. I've just checked the 2018 thread again, and someone who had interactions with the set said there is motorized rotation! Knob for rotation is in the undercarriage.
  6. I don't think 42081 would be PF upgradable. 42081 has two main functions: raising arm and tilting bucket, and there are 2 separate knobs visible already in the model. Or at least, 42081 doesn't have a gearbox, while usual PF-upgradable models has only one input knob and a gearbox to split the transmission into 2 functions.
  7. I'm leaning toward L motors. XL motors so far are used mostly for propulsion (Dino, 8275, 42030, 42070, 42055). For other functions, pulling two conveyor belts simultaneously with some loads in 42055 also makes the use of XL motor justified. As for 8258, I think L motor could do just fine. I think the XL was used because the L wasn't released back then. Now for the 42082, if I remember correctly, the gearbox at the back of the superstructure allows only 1 function at a time. It's a multidirectional gearbox like that in 42042, but with three functions and one switch moving freely on an axle among those three. The three functions can't be other than raising boom, extending boom, and lowering winch. In the carriage body there's the outriggers. Nothing too heavy, so an L motor would suffice. On another note, one thing that has been bothering me is whether rotation is motorized :/ There are only three functions at the back, and it is unknown if there is one or two switches in the carriage body...
  8. Nitpicking time! The yacht has them too. Deathly hallows?
  9. Isn't the engine already visible in the back view? I do wish the engine is in mini size like that in Mack instead of usual size.
  10. Who are we? AFOL !! What do we want? Contradictory things !! When do we want them? All the taim !!
  11. Well there's a gap right in front of the wheel arch, but there is no gap like that in the real car :/ And there seem to be gaps on both sides of the hood also.
  12. The triangle thing surrounding the wheel looks like a combination of panel #3 #4 and the wheel arch panel.
  13. And how is Ponsse pronounced btw? Is it /pons/ or /pon-seh/ or /pon-sei/ or sth? I know there's no Ponsse in 2H 2018 and discussing that name isnt really relevant to the topic but I just wanna pretend for a moment 42080 is one...
  14. I refer to it as Zoots. The Sfinx excavator has a feature called "active counterweight" in which the counterweight moves automatically depending on the weight distribution of the arm. I think the movable bottom in the 42081 serves the same function.
  15. Now that you mentioned it, making a bed out of those parts really calls for Grohl's magic.
  16. I can see some panels in the 42081 A: 5x11 black, 5x11 tapered black, 3x13 curved black, 3x11x2 10 holes black, 3x7 black, 3x7 pair black, 3x7 yellow, 3x11 yellow, 3x11 LBG. Since the 42081 B is an autonomous tipper truck, there must be a bed. However there aren't many flat panels (3x11 & 5x11) in the A model to make one . So I think the bed will be either skeletal like that in 42030 B, or a color mess like the barge in 42064 B. Or, maybe, maybe, the bucket will also be used to make the tipping bed That'd be very weird...
  17. I'd say it's the same reason that 42069 got 2400 pieces. A number of them go into system pieces.
  18. This website in Belgia listed the set as Volvo ZEUX: https://misterbricks.be/lego-technic-42081-volvo-zeux.html
  19. It seems that 42081 will be listed as "Volvo Autonomous Loader" in some countries and "Volvo ZEUX" in others.
  20. Since 42080 is not a licensed model it doesnt look exactly like that. Color wise it's a mess, with red, white, yellow, lime, dark green, blue, LBG, DBG competing with each other and end up accounting for 10 percent each in the model... Function wise there is no telescopic boom. There are only two functions. The arm can only move up down, and the clamps can grab a log. When the clamps grab the log a circular saw blade is thrust forward and cut the log in halves. It does have 8 wheels, articulated steering, (apparently) cabin rotation, and the arm is of gantry style like the Ponsse. I didnt want to get this set at first, but since now I know it looks like the Ponsse I'll get it and flatter myself I've got a Ponsse.
  21. Here's a video showing 42080 at work. Too bad this set isn't licensed. If it had been I think it would look so much better than the color vomit in the Prelim. Someone even replicated this Ponsse on LEGO Ideas with Claas tyres: https://ideas.lego.com/projects/23583f34-3e0b-4959-a593-755ca4ac0f5d
  22. @Shiva You can go to amazon de to see for yourself. At the current moment its price drops further to 105 EUR. It does sound like robbery...
