42080 Forest Harvester
Ngoc Nguyen replied to Ngoc Nguyen's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I echo the thought that L motor seem redundant. An M motor would have been enough. Maybe this set is intended to be a part pack, with a bunch of rare parts and newly colored parts. This thing doesn't even need a motor. Replace the cylinders with two large LA and one small LA on the grabber and it could still function the same.- 313 replies

42079 - Heavy Duty Forklift

My bad. I meant the hazard light is for lifting the fork, and the exhaust pipe is for steering. Tilting is most likely done with the side lever of course. -

It has just occured to me that, if the B model is a drilling vehicle, how would the panels in the prefab house be reused? o.O I do have a feeling that they would be reused.

I already reinforced the arm of BWE with extra 15L liftarms but it still flexes. Can't help it anyway.

For a big and heavy thing like this some flex is inevitable. The BWE has a mild flex in the middle of the arm and no one seems to complain about it.

42080 Forest Harvester
Ngoc Nguyen replied to Ngoc Nguyen's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
@menad What is the third manual function in the three boxes in the right? @Maaboo35 In the first box in the right, the crane arm and the model look different. I believe it's the B model in the form of Ponsse Buffalo forwarder I mentioned in the 2018 topic.- 313 replies

I've just spotted sth new. RIght between the white crane arm and the green liftarm of the base, there is a LBG liftarm pointing away. THe liftarm seems to be in the same direction with the cabin. I think we can expect some creative liftarm linkages in which turning the central articulation will result in steering the front wheel row and the cabin simultaneously.- 313 replies

I think the 42080 B is gonna be like this. -

Or maybe, in the real Chiron there's a lime component in that place. -

General Part Discussion
Ngoc Nguyen replied to Polo-Freak's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Red may look like a common color, but it is a big surprise for me to find out that panel 5x11 in red has only appeared in 3 technic sets thus far: 8258, 42029, and 42068. The next big red thing 42082 doesn't seem to have this piece.- 5,513 replies

Lets talk color vomit
Ngoc Nguyen replied to aminnich's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
But those colors create visual disharmony ans discomfort during the build +.+ I dont have problems with inner "Technicolor" because, as you guys say, they are gonna be hidden anyway. I even like the colors of the inners of 42070. They look a bit garish but lively. But, the inners of 42083 is too much to handle. There are black 5L liftarms already and they still use lime? They usually use neutral or dark colors to distinguish, so the parts dont stand out too loudly. Lime, orange, and blue are just too much. There are also LBG pin with bush, then also oranges. The argument about ease of differentiation doesnt hold up here. -

I've just thought that maybe the rear caliper will be mounted onto some parts that are mounted on these pieces: Then those pieces will be plugged into the blue 3L friction pin -

Ngoc Nguyen replied to Jurss's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Yes I also think that the front caliper will be done the similar way with that in the Porsche, with the spare axle hole on the steering hub. \ But the unusual thing I mentioned earlier is the rear caliper. In the Porsche, the rear calipers are mounted right next to the wheel hub, with the 5L axles with stop. But in the build of the Chiron, the hub was connected with only 3L blue pins. That's why I said I'm wondering how the rear calipers will be mounted. -

If it is so, doesn't that will make the caliper rotate when the wheel rotate? -

The brake on the box image is the brake on the front wheel. You can see to the left a part of the new Porsche steering hub and a axle with tow ball and a tow ball linkage. I do think the rear wheels will have brake calipers too. I just don't know how they would be mounted. -

Ngoc Nguyen replied to Jurss's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I've just realized sth unusual from the last interior leak. There are no calipers for the rear wheels. And there doesnt seem to be any opening for the calipers to be mounted ò.Ó Another thing is that, the rear part look dense already. So the likelihood that there will be working calipers is probably nil. -

Lately I've been missing the awesome feeling of opening a new set and discovering the build as I follow the instructions. The amazing sets that I missed lately are 42055, 42069, 42070, 42078. Too bad I've already owned two copies of each, one for A model and one for B model. Buying another copy just to find that feeling again isn't a good thing to do though.
