Are smaller flanges possible on larger radius tracks?
supertruper1988 replied to SteamSewnEmpire's topic in LEGO Train Tech
This sounds cool, but at what point is it not LEGO? I would love smaller flanges but there a particular appeal to running on LEGO track that keeps it in the hobby for me. This proposed solution is more along the lines of scale model railroading which isnt bad just not really in the realm of LEGO, you know? -

There is plenty you can buy on BTD for $25. We have lots of instructions at or under that price.

[RANT] Stud.io
supertruper1988 replied to ExeSandbox's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
I never said I dont use studio. I have been slowly transitioning to LDCad. It has some quirks but as a lifetime CAD user its pretty simple once you get the hang of it. MecaBricks has come a long way from its inception and I highly recommend watching the tutorial videos. -
[RANT] Stud.io
supertruper1988 replied to ExeSandbox's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Having read this and looking at everyone's complaints I would like to throw in my rant. I doubt the studio developers build LEGO at all. I also doubt they have ever designed a function program. things like file handling, UI scaling, basic navigation in menus do not work. Some examples: You cannot tab between fields in most places Fields are not adhered to a character type, for instance, I can type a rotation value in the page editor but if I hit "D" on the keyboard to go to the next page, it places a D in the rotation field, causing an error Part files, are not able to be imported directly into studio. Locked ZIP as file type? that is incredibly dumb and a major security flaw. This is just a short list, never mind, relying on the user base to be the QA/QC team. -
A quick google search should yield some results. I would try "custom LEGO train instructions"

Does anyone use decals instead of stickers?
supertruper1988 replied to SteamSewnEmpire's topic in LEGO Train Tech
It depends on who you ask but in my mind a "decal" is specifically when it is printed on something other than paper with a sticky backing. -

You will want to use @SylvainLS 's tool to conver to ldraw first. then import to studio. ) -

I use only printed vinyl decals from @legoman666 aka Okbrickworks much easier than water slide and no risk of them flaking off. -
The real question is then, why does this matter? LEGO is allowed to make mistakes.

You dont have to do it that way because the super computer in your head does all the math for you. When you have a computer program, you have to give it all the instructions and use cases and error handling. Its not stupid, its great that a free program has some tools to help you use your brain to get it lined up.

These are great! Very cool prototype an great model in the brick.

For me I would much rather have it be flat but I wont use this option anyways as I always make my own steps.

I would be open to making a new banner if there is a place I can see the guidlines.

Stud.IO Parts List

Is there an issue with the "add to wantedlist" button? -
So how does this apply if I want to have something in even baseplate sizes like 32, 64, 96 etc? Then back to your triangle program, do you know if I can make an STL into a TRI file? If I recall, STL's are already triangles. I would not be doing intricate shapes but rather cuts and fills in some hills. Thanks for the education BTW it has prompted me to get into to some JS courses.
