  1. According to the data sheet, those need 3 studs wide by 9 studs long and 13 plates tall. That is a decent size. I would be sure you have 10 studs of length to account for the wire connections. I may have to order a couple of those. Thanks for the tip!
  2. The answer to this is no. A dual L-motor setup like this can easily pull close to 1000mA which will chomp thru a 9V battery quickly. @aj_bricks
  3. hahahha. Dont worry, I like my computer virus free
  4. Which version of Studio are you on? I would recommend updating if you arent on the latest. I have done a lot of instructions in studio and with other instruction makers but I do charge a fee to do it. Feel free to send me a message if you would like to discuss more.
  5. I can send over some information. Is the email on your website good to communicate on?
  6. I had mistakent called your SVG to LDraw tool SVG2Dat. I have not been able to get your tool to work with SVG files output from illustrator. I will look at this. I am not too fussed with having to convert to bmp. I can do so easily.
  7. @Philo @Lasse D I guess what I am asking is for a tool to make a sticker from art I have made in illustrator. I have tried the SVG2DAT and it interprets the bounding box as a color and I cannot make it go away. There is also LD Pattern Creator but I find it very hard to use after having used image editing software for years and the thought of redrawing art that I have already drawn once at 1:1 size is very frustrating. I have even tried to just apply the art to parts using part designer but that is also a new level of tedium beyond LDPC. I guess this was more of a vent than anything useful but if there is some tool that can help me, I would be glad to learn more about it.
  8. Oh wonderful. I will have to play with it! Can i ask if it might be possible to have it generate just the "sticker"? I have many instructions I make that would benefit greatly from showing when to place the stickers
  9. I hate to be a bother but is this something that can convert to a native Ldraw part from an image applied to a part in studio?
  10. I am a 1:48 scale builder and yes many steam locomotives end up at 9 wide. 1:48 (1:47.625 but who is counting ) scale is 15" per stud or 6" per plate. The hand grabs and door rails are hilariously out of proportion but also help tie in the 9 wide locomotive and tender vs 8 wide stock.
  11. Number 2 is really cool. I think I have the parts to build that in "jurassic park" red and gray
  12. What guys? L-Gauge is run by Michael Gale and is a repository of information. Whats not to like?
  13. l-gauge.org has them in the resources section.
  14. You will have to edit the blueprint config file and you will want to comment out the section that starts with "this is the ground plane"
  15. wow a truly great model. Love all the new detail!
  16. I have found that there is a "snap" at the end of the axle so I will move it there and then set the grid step to be the medium and used the translation tool to move them into place. If you have multiple to do this way, I use helper bricks to copy with the technic parts and used the more workable brick based snaps for positioning. Hopefully that makes sense. I know that it will run the CPU and hog memory on my Mac and PC so your experience is not unique. I know that wine introduces its own CPU load on top of other. Have you tried LDCad? It takes a little getting used to but it has a lot of graet features similar to Studio. If I recall correctly, it is available natively for Linux.
  17. There are no plans for R40 because they are incredibly cheap to procure. Anyone still on the 9V system will have a ton of R40 curves and they are plentiful on bricklink.
  18. What is the end goal here? Are you looking to use the Studio Part Designer to generate stickers or decorate parts in LDraw vs using LDPatternCreator? (I get the appeal, LDPC is great at what it does but its is a steep learning curve and I dont want to redraw the decals I have made for printing as a vector only to have to draw them again...as a vector) Another note, on your SVG2DAT have you solved the bounding box issue?
  19. reddish brown has had issues like that for a while. It has to do with the plastic color mix.
  20. That is great! I have received this for Christmas and was just looking for a thread on how to add a working lift hill. I remembered from this thread that I needed to adjust the angles of the curves by adding plates so I did that as I built it on the first build. I will be making a full 2x3 baseplate amusement park from mine. I plan to add the UFO spinner that is currently available as well. I also was given the People at the fair pack so I am off to a great start. I have already had some issues with the train jumping the track on the return to the station. Have you found this to be an issue here? I was able to remedy mine by adding a short straight after the main drop and small rise. Really love that you mirrored your build and added so much to the scene!
  21. There are whole libraries of basic bricks available on grabcad or similar sites. No idea how accurate they are. There was also a Maya library and studio can export to OBJ but again I am not sure what results that produces. What kid of Demo are you doing with LEGO in cad?
  22. What is your desired outcome? That may help us help you.
  23. It is a recognized LEGO® Community and has rules against discussing clones and off brand bricks.
  24. This is a LEGO forum so the idea of using knock off bricks is not one that will be taken kindly here.
  25. I have a bunch of free instructions over at bricktraindepot.com they match the L-Gauge look but are about 100 parts less per 32x32 double straight module. The curves are going to cost you more and the best place to buy the tile for them in from LEGO S@H Pick-A-Brick much cheaper than Bricklink and you can get 1000 at a time which is a lot. There is a seller in California that sells 4x4 green plate for cheaper than anyplace I have seen. He changes his shop name around tho so just search 4x4 green and he is the highest qty availble in the world. 2x2 brick is a good deal at $0.03/each so any store with that price, no matter the color, gets added on whenever I buy on bricklink. MILS is parts intense but the benefits are worth it to me. As for the actual baseplate, you can buy them on sale on amazon as suggested but if you are part of a Recognized LUG you can also participate in the LEGO LugBulk program which can save you money on parts.
