There was some 'Depp fever' when the first POTC movie was initially promoted. That wasn't my point, though. Recent movies with Depp in the principle role have had smaller returns, with less new audience draw. TLG's model for movie licensing seems to fit a certain pattern. The amount of set development seems to be linked (at least somewhat) to the projections of the potential for customers coming from those interested in the movie. The over-estimated projections for The Lone Ranger seem to bear this out. My point was that I see no real probability of a full POTC line of sets being produced anytime soon. -

Depp's box office appeal has faltered in recent years, so toy marketing will likely be less. I'd have to recheck, but I think the deal with him was for six POTC movies. Does he need to join the MCU to get people to go see him again? Then maybe TLG will think to invest in more than one set if/when POTC comes around again. -

Urban wasn't in yuppie. That was guppie; gay urban professional. There's a pretty good Bloom County comic strip that uses the term. In yuppie, it is upwardly-mobile, a hyphenate.- 1,421 replies

I don't think the fig count will be so high. At least one, possibly two, of the undead shark mold. The undead bird could plausibly show up. Consider the Silent Mary could be where a final battle takes place, so having Jack, Will, and others there makes sense. I'm not likely to ever own this set, unless it is on discount somewhere, or a gift. But if some part or fig is useful to me, Bricklink here I come. -

Yuppie has often been considered synonymous with preppie, which was Slater's nickname for Zack. It was the mention of the 80's brick phone that made me think of Zack, as evidenced by the above image. The blown out hair style, though, would be appropriate.- 1,421 replies

I think the word you are looking for is protagonist. Keep going. -
Tonal descriptions of the characters' voices help as well. For my Nestlands characters that didn't build their livelihoods with outside travel before they announced themselves to the surrounding populace I went further. I write dialog that I then translate into a heavy accent (think hillbilly). My sig fig is a prime example of that. The build that I have been trying to get right for months, will finally conclude The Quest for the Egg, and may see me shift to another character for focus. Still Nestlands Clans Kaliphlin, but one who has a less pronounced accent.

Challenge V - Princes of Garvey - RESULTS POSTED!
gedren_y replied to Garmadon's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Two questions about what is allowed in an entry thread: 1) Are we allowed to use extra images that are not part of the entry builds for story purposes? Example: an image of fig (or figs) acting as narrator that are not actually part of the entry build. 2) Are we allowed to edit our entry up until the end date of the contest?- 164 replies

A nicely representative bit of architecture. Now, is this Ibn al'Sayeed character privy to those 'Corrington documents' that were locked in the Governor's strongbox months ago? Could the knowledge of their contents be the reason he is seeking spiritual comfort?- 7 replies

I find the huge shark mold, either version, a waste. I liked the smaller version because with a change of heads, or just some stickers, it could be a different species. This design could not realistically be anything other than a great white, and I don't find that to be very useful. An undead great white is even less useful. -
Isn't it ironic that an island called 'pregnant coin' would have so little of the stuff for those Mardier scallywags to steal. Torrach Bonn seems quite an idyllic place. Pretty homes, nice foliage, and fierce women.

In the waning light of the day, on a nearly empty stretch of beach south of Terreli, Viscount Alexander Doblin tries to do his part to inspire the troops headed into the fight with Mardier. "I had this spear specially forged to be an exact replica of the one my ancestor wielded on The Day of Blood." Alexander waxes unnecessarily, "Bloody it well." The soldier doesn't really believe the drivel the nobleman is spouting. He accepts the spear with grace, though, expecting he'll get to enjoy some female attention tonight for the honor. He ships out in the morning. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Just a quick build. It took less time to build it than it did getting these two 'okay' shots.
