  1. Yippie, a full interior Always good to see those, though the outerior (is that even an existing word?) is great as well. The thick stone columns, combined with the log bricks on their sides make for a very nice style. Added to an excellent landscaping, may indeed make this one of your best builds yet. I can't wait to see the full lay-out
  2. @kahir88: wow, that poem is just gorgeous... amazing job!
  3. (Fourteen days too late, but here we go! Also, cheers to @Henjin_Quilones, who's doing an amazing job ) I, Arthur, am ready to take up the arms for Avalonia - or anyone else, if they pay enough and fight for a worthy cause! Backstory: clouded in mystery, but don't you worry: it will be revealed. Age: young Location: originating fromt the no-longer-established county of Drond's Feelds, now wandering all of Historica but a settlement may follow one day, in the far future... Be ensured it will be close to the Mitgardian border though!
  4. Some really cool drawings in that first post, they remind me I still like Mitgardia more than is healthy for a proper Avalonian... Ah well, welcome to Historica for these new (old) members!
  5. I absolutely love the amount of work out into the new guild, its got me really excited Even this small amount of builds looks really inspiring, I'm sure Varlyrio will accomplish great things
  6. Oh no, TM... And ZG... It won't be the same without you guys! But hey, with the two of you I'm sure Varlyrio will be pretty cool (though not as cool as Avalonia, of course let's make the SJ a nice farewell party!)
  7. Sure, count me in!
  8. For a first micro ever, that's pretty impressive! The rockwork is great, and I really like how the fortress is 'layered', with walls centering around the top of the hill. A very accurate and realistic detail. Also, nice use of these hammers
  9. A very nice castle for sure! Combininig tan and l bley is an audacious decision, but I think you've pulled it off quite well! Though I'm not completely sold on the texture (especially on the church's roof - which has amazing colours, by the way), probably because you have combined so many different kinds of it, this is completely compensated by cool details like the angled sections Also, do I spot a dragon's den amidst the rockwork?
  10. Good to see all these new-old members back! Some great figs there Narbilu, you'll always be welcome in Avalonia, but if you're longing to another guild, we won't hold you back
  11. Such a sweet cottage, but why have I never even heard of this lovely colour? Only remark on the roof could be that the toothplates look a bit regular to me, maybe these could be more randomised? Also, a very sweet window design, mind if I'd borrow it one day?
  12. @The Stad okay, I hadn't noticed there were more sections - that would indeed make a lot of sense. And I understand what you mean with the 'map-effect', but still I think some variation in wedge plate kinds may not hurt
  13. A lovely intro for sure! Really liking the build, the only thing I can think of is to round the upper corners of the door, but everything else is top-notch Nocty!
  14. I'm really liking the build, welcome to the club of half-timbered tudor lovers The SNOT-work is very clean (as HQ stated, excellently depicting a newly build house), but IMHO a bit too clean. I know they're only temporary, so they shouldn't have decorations and the like, but something to break up the tan-and-brown would be cool. I'm thinking of a small blacony to the right, a window stepping out or just an offset between the ground and the first floor... Anyway, the roof technique is spot on (not completely sold on the gap, but I can understand why it is there) and a thumbup for the fire wood rack
  15. It's been a long time I've been active in around the Brick Seas, but here are some of the bigger differences I can think of. Maybe some others (like @Kai NRG or @Garmadon) may complete the list? * BoBS is about the Age of Sail, with the needed margins, but GoH is all about the Medieval Ages, with the needed margins as well of course. A pretty obvious thing, but I thought I'd mention it as well * GoH, or at least Book II, doesn't posses an 'active economy'. Participants don't own money or something, though Book I awarded coins to the Guilds, but this was more of a small contest and turned around prestige, they didn't have in-game value. That means no web forms to fill in or build limits! (I had almost forgotten, but we do have a build registration thread! You would have to ask the leadership whether it is still used) * As the Book I coins show, the competition between factions is very different. Of course, we're all very proud of our own guild (up Avaloniaaaaaa *insert trumpets*), but there's not something like a faction's PM thread, simply because there's no really secret information or need to 'outsmart' the others. Even the diplomatic ties between Guilds are not clear. One faction declaring war on another, or guaranteeing a smaller nation (which we don't have, bythe way, except maybe Cedrica) as one would frequently see on BoBS, just doesn't happen here. Except of course when the leadership would decide so, but that's another story... Consequently, the board game aspect of the Guilds is a lot smaller (on the other hand, it got pretty high during the fourth challenge of Book II, led by the excellent @SkaForHire who you may know as one of BoBS's game masters). (This all also doesn't mean 'normal' members can't have a big impact on the storyline, even using private threads and such. We all know how close the Algus came to destroying the Guilds!) * Following this last fact, there's no 'rush for land'. Even with the anniversary challenge, GoH isn't about expanding your empire, as is the Age of Discovery centered BoBS. Intrafactionwise, only Avalonia has a tradition with every member claiming a certain territory, but this too has been abolished for Book III. Of course, a lot of people are Lords (of just residents) of a certain city or region, but they don't have a zone of control. Even more so, Nocturnian cartographers are known for not caring about exact locations of important locations... Interfactionally, the above-mentioned diplomatic actions between factions, as determined by the leadership (of course with participation of the guild members etc), sometimes result in border conflicts (an excellent example here is the third challenge of Book II, where Avalonia and Mitgardia were at the edge of full-out war), but conquering pieces of other guilds or actual border change... No, I can't honestly remember having seen something like that (I'm not even sure whether something like that has happened in BoBS). Could an older member (@soccerkid6, or our beloved grand daddy ZCerberus) maybe confirm? Or wait, I just recalled something, hmmm... Let me look some things up, I'll get back to this in a few moments! As you see, it will take a bit of time beforing getting to know all the lore amassed throughout years of building or the more subtle differences (of which @Henjin_Quilones has already mentioned some), but I hope this can get you started! EDIT: I have found it At the start of the fourth challenge of Book II, Ska posted a little resumée of the main points of view of the three different sides, which can be found here (under the list of challenge preludes). When one looks to the second row, last column, one can see that the DK has promised the island of Esterbroke to the Avalonian guild (if you don't know where this is: on this map, its the island right south of the Mystic Isles). And considering the fact that this same DK has come out of the Kali civil war as the most powerful of the three, I think we have a first border change ever!!! May the Dragon ever expand - or wait, am I talking BoBS language now?
  16. Very nice indeed! I have to second TM, something to break up all the tiles (my head is still a bit weebly from looking at them for too long, It hink ) would make it even cooler. I'd also like to point out that there are a few pretty nice minfigs standing on the wall. My favourite, however, is defenitely the one running htrough the snow!
  17. Seconded Cedrica lying in the exact middle, but so exact it doesn't belong to any guild at all? Or to all four at the same time, depending on how you look at it?
  18. @Henjin_Quilones: I don't know where got so much time, but I'm very sure you spend it wisely. That list is amazing, hats off sir
  19. Welcome to the coolest guild! I think either of them would work, though leadership is counting the active members of each guild only in this thread I'd say?
  20. Indeed. I'm not sure, but I'd say that only Mitgardia and Avalonia (and of course Cedrica, but that's not a guild) are completely under the Queen's reign. Kaliphlin is torn, with the DK not acknowledging the new ruler, while the various free cities and regions could be looking to her for protection or leadership (could, because every semi-independent town decides on its own now, if I understand the situation in the South correctly?). With the Hand defeated (or at least beaten), the Nocturnians recognise the new Queen as their suzerain, but the very nature of the Darklands just doesn't allow a really centralised authority. As for Varlyrio: noone knows what has happened to the fifth guild during the last Book, so... Again, just my imagination running wild, what are your thoughts?
  21. I am Had already seen the topic, and though I've found many (really nice) houses in the GoH-lay-out, I mus thave missed this one!
  22. Cool! You don't happen to have any pictures of the two combined?
  23. A very nice one! Especially the colourscheme is top-notch, with the dark and light bley contrast on top of that gorgeous flesh-toned roof and shining windows... On the other thand, wouldn't it look better with a landscaping, or other surroundings?
  24. Oh, how dare they? A very nice MOC for sure! As has been said before, the minifigs really shine with lovely posing and composition, but the build is quite nice too. Especially the bell and the gallery (great use of 1x1 round plates there) are sweet touches I'm also a bit suprised that the olive green plates worked so well as vegetation...
  25. Seconded, absolutely agreed on! You're not alone, I fear
