  1. Welcome, @Ayrlego! Seems like another pirate has decided to turn his coat and join the castle fun, good choice! Considering your high-quality BoBS builds, I'm really looking forward to seeing your GoH story
  2. One of the many smaller gates leading to Granoleon's harbour. After the Juniper War and the capital's fast expansion, ground prices exploded and people used every bit of space they could find. Hence, commercial activities took over, though remnants of it's military purposes can still be spotted... In Granoleon's port district, everything can be bought: from good old MAESTRO apples to exotic spices sold by merchant convoys from the far Mokolei Empire. Unlucky for this trader, everything can be stolen as well! The district is both plagued and boosted by the many docked ships not that far away. This pharmacist has found a great public in sailors with scurvy, while the cartographer next door supplies captains with the newest trade routes. Pierre Lavalette Genaro, Intendant Général des Finances , and Berart Mazan, Secrétaire d’État des Colonies are discussing the latest exploration voyage, while Seigneur Hugo d'Offren already seems to be planning the next one. Though no longer a capital entrance to Oleon's prime city, the guards still keep a close watch to make sure no Corringtonlander makes it's way to the ineer city! His Majesty's Knights keeps a close eye too, though this one seems to prefer watching Oleander beauties over Corringtonlander enemies. The proud guard (probably the part I like the most about the MOC)! ---- Though transformed to a fleshie castle build so I could enter the SJ collab category with it, the MOC was meant to finally get me at least a little bit active in BoBS again. I wanted to depict a 15th or 16th century city district, not very prosperous but close enough to the harbour to profit from it's commercial activities. Credits to A LOT of guys, I borrowed hundreds of techniques and was inspired by so many great builders like Legopard, LJ, Gideon, ZC, blackdeathgr (who also showed great patience, when I told him for the tenth time my build would be finished any day now), [insert people I've forgotten]. I hope you enjoy and CC is of course very welcome!
  3. You not only one.
  4. Oh wow, that's such a classical one, why couldn't I recognise it? Thanks!
  5. Hmmm, difficult question for sure... In my opinion (which nowhere near any form of authority, I'm not even Varlyrian myself so...), I feel like they shouldn't. I've always felt like the 'GoH-era' stops just before muskets start being used, so before full regiments would be equipped with them. On the other hand, VaRlyrio is a strange place, as you have said yourself. Hence, I feel like especially the western gnomes could, say, be experimenting with some form(s) of gunpowder (but without it spreading outdside their enclaves. The richest of trading families could maybe hire, if they're lucky, one or two gnomish sharp-shooters, equipped with a musket-like thing?
  6. @dalle: welcome to the guilds, man! You have defenitely made the right choice Also, a very sweet sigfig. May I ask where the torso is from?
  7. Now you've got me nailed down! Ah, the lovely life of a mercenary...
  8. Wow, we've got the same backstory Kai! Cool fig for sure, I especially like the hair. May I ask where this piece comes from?
  9. Arthur hasn't proven anything yet, don't make him blush But you sound pretty convincing, I think Avalonia would find some very willing sellswords if ever they need 'em!
  10. Wow, such an explosion of rockwork! IMHO, I feel like a little less mixing of colours may not hurt the overall style, a bit more like the ground which looks very pretty. I also really like that you've added interiors, good job
  11. So the government basically decided to instant-convert his profession from mercenary to treasure holder, if I get it right? Oh wait, I don't think it was time to reveal the mercenary-thing yet... Well, story to follow guys, story to follow!
  12. I had not yet started the public mass recruitment, but yes please! We don't want to look less cool than those pesky pirates, so please come over and join the castle section If you're justa tiny bit interested, let me know!
  13. *jaw drops open* But... but... why?
  14. What have we got here? An pirate returning to his castle roots? Welcome back, Maxim! It's great to have you in the Guilds again!
  15. When one wanders the many corridors of Albion Castle, one's eye may fall upon this small painting of Arthur being honoured by Lord Rex. Though noone is sure about the latter's disappearance, historians have agreed that an encounter between the two swordsmen is absolutely impossible. Let me tell you it's full story...
  16. A very pretty ship you've got here, nice one My Avalonian heart roars proudly at the sight of so much dark and sand green, great job incorporating the guild colours dG! (Also, I feel like I'm asking something really dumb and foolish now, so please forgive me, but has de Gothia gotten old or have you just changed to a new sig fig?)
  17. Not completely sold on the sand green (how many of those 1x1 with clips do you have???), but that's compensated by the excellent colours on the rockwork The brown-and-dark-tan section is great as well, typically Mitgardian!
  18. Everything is possible in Historica, and I really like the results. I think my favoured knights must be the Teulu Cavalry though
  19. A very nice way of introducing your character and storyline, please keep these comics coming! Also, I think Grep must be my new all-round favoured character in the guilds
  20. Ah, here it is: all of Sorgheim together A great lay-out! Seeing all of the buildings apart was good, seeing them connected even better. I've only one point of remark, on the landscaping: the border between reddish brown and dark green, in front of the wall, seems too straight to me. Maybe some additional plates could make this look more natural?
  21. For not being familiar with this style, you pulled it off amazingly There are so many things I like in this (rather small) build, but I'll try to summarise a few: an excellent colour scheme, the bakery in general but with a special mention to the gabbles and the sign, the quay (a very big thumbup for the seemingly wet stones, excellent use of different shades of grey) (and another thumbup for it's corner, the round plant trough works great), the dark tan wall at an angle, the round tiles over the gate, the ... you want me to go on?
  22. A very classical Kaliphlin build, it reminds me of the Book II Kaliphlin challenge (which happened, thinking of it, not that long ago)! I especially like the colourscheme, though the desert itself seems a bit bare... On the other hand, that's the whole point of calling something deserted no? Anyway, I feel like for example some curved slopes might break it up just enough to add a special touch to the already nice build!
  23. I'm really getting to love this city A very sweet arch design, alternating the tan and dark orange To still have a bit of nitpicking: I feel like showing the studs of the leftern most roof contrasts a bit with the clean style used throughout the rest of the build All the little stands and awnings make for a very Eastern atmosphere, I think I can almost smell the exotic vegetation and spices...
  24. Oh no, Lena! Send word if you need help, dG I'm really liking the vegetation, very Avalonian, and the wagon is fine too, and the figs are cool, and... I think the only things I'm no fan of are the reddish brown tiles you've topped the black border slopes off with. They seem a bit bright, maybe normal black may have looked better?
  25. Small, but nice. I really like the many rounded elements, not something we see very often in the Lego universe. Aside from that, I really like the windows! A small remark: for being a sig-fig introduction, I'm kind of missing the guild colours?
