  1. I get the arguments brought before - that knee joints for example can confuse the target audience. But the more weight the mech/creature has, the more unstably it is anyway. So no knee articulation, even though we have perfect and actually stable pieces for it, but the other points of articulation are completely unstable? Firstbourne defacto cannt carry her own weight anymore. So why doesn't Lego go the middle route and bring out specialized pieces, that can maybe also look better but especially can carry 800+ pieces builds? Cheap toy brands can do it with big action figures as well. So I built the summer sets already: - Lloyd's mech looks amazing; closing up the cockpit was actually very easy (I just took a 2x2 cylinder brick as neck and built it up with curved roof pieces into the body. Mechs 3 times smaller took me longer to modify the open cockpits into closed ones) - the colour swapping was a pain. Took me like 8 hours (and disassembling many sets) I swear every time that this is the last white set I buy. Lego pumps just more dark/light tan/brown pieces into sets. I don't mind these colours, but when there's so much grey and black anyway it tends to look super messy. It's interesting how little Ninjago's target audience seems to care about colour consistancy compared to the former audience of Elves (RIP) - there's almost no articulation. Probably because of it's weight, it's built in a way - other than the forearms - you can bend it good because of the building techniques, but you can't actually move it, not even good flying poses. The wings themselves have perfect articulation, but I know already that in 1-2 years max. they will bend down automaticly but it's not that I didn't expect this, it's a general problem with Lego's parts system - overall it's by far the best mech.
  2. so the German prices for HP summer wave were said to be 20€ for the Dementor set and 35 for the horntail set. I was happy to see the summer sets being available today - Horntail is 40 € and Dementor set 30€ (!) I get it has lots of figures and a new mold but 30 is ridicolous
  3. Sad for us, but better believe it. They are kids toys after all and Ninjago targets even younger audiences, then probably many other themes. What I don't understand though is why TLG doesnt bring out new, specialized pieces for bigger mechs. People described the problems above - I have them as well; with all my bigger dragons and mechs, the joints cannt carry the weight after some time. My firstbourne dragon now cannt even stand on its own. So if stability is so important - why doesn't TLG bring out new, stronger pieces for these big mechs? Maybe pieces that are not colour fixed as well and have more aesthetic potential. Other knockoff-brands do it as well.
  4. The usage of eyepatches in popular culture is nothing but a huge misconception. There were and there still are many reasons to use one, most of which do not include to cover up an eye lost in battle. I use eyepatches regularly to rest my eye - there are better ways but for my condition it is still quite comfortable solution. Most people with similar condition I've met prefer to be asked a few times why they look so strange; while I get asked hundreds of times if I lost my eye. Most people that did loose their eye though wear artificial ones. Even though they are purely aesthetic, other than some squinting u won't notice all that much. To talk a bit more about Ninjago: Im a bit dissapointed by Lloyds mech. it looks really amazing but again they missed a good chance to include knee joints. Would have been easy on this one; like Kay's mech. And I think it will be hard to cover up the open "cockpit".
  5. So a press release from TLG advertises the new seasons to be like the old ones but also different to attract new fans. And episodes will just be 11 minutes. Sad to see Ninjago also being sacrificed on the altar of profits. I hope it will still be somewhat good and keep the good whitty dialogues as well as asian-mystic adventurous nature
  6. I very much assume the HP sets this year should partly be an alternative for the discontinued Elves theme. Since HP is very popular with women and the market for men can only expand so much as the costumers have money and space available.
  7. there's endless potential for this.. As for the City sets, unfortunately the "Docks" set didn't seem to sell as well.
  8. well.. I expected much worse with the low brick + price count. I don't know how people could ever get their hopes up for a Smaug mold (which itself was worth about $30 probably) or a bigger Ninago style dragon. So this is certainly better than the Great hall basilisk - but unfortunately with the old wing pieces there's not even much space to modify it. I'd gladly have payed more to have the Smaug wings in brown. So far I like the UCS Hogwarts castle Horntail better and it's wings are still more accurate to a Wyvern
  9. course pyramit would be cool. But this wave has soooo many sets already... A friend gave me the Monestary set as present - I wouldn't have bought it myself, after having built it I'm so glad to own it. the roofs of both "walls" can be connected, which looks just sooo good. And all the easter eggs are nice tribute to all of the seasons.
  10. interesting since his face without beard piece looks very different. As his clothing style. So I wonder where this season is going - we had Mad Max just 2 seasons ago
  11. That's what Im also looking for.. But I think it is rather unlikely, from the preliminary pictures, I was sure it was bending it's knees in different positions though The funny thing is it would be better for stability since too much pressure on the standard joints in the hip doesn't work at heavy sets. For the weight of Firstbourne dragon, the standard joints just don't work anymore, since it is too heavy And sad we only get only 1 of each of the 2 Nya version - in rather expensive sets even. So no standard suit, unless you purchase the most expensive set. I hope for once she will be included in a Magazine.. Nya's Ninja suits are the only thing, where I have a full collection so far.. and they keep looking cool
  12. Whatever people say: Ninjago sounds like the most stupid concept and it should be out of date. But in fact both show an sets are a secret jewel within toys and children TV shows. I wouldn't have ever thought we'd get molded Kitsune and Mononoke-hime in Lego. Not even mentioning the Gundam or the White Walker Samurai And btw I love how nice this community is, how cultured people debate here. Really peaceful, compared some of the more popular licenced threads.
  13. I really thought about purchasing the Tantive IV set - which means something since I don't buy SW sets anymore for years. But after watching the first review online I'm quite disappointed. The underside should basically mirror the upper hull but it is soo flat. Like if you see the ship from the side it looks like 20 % of the underside has been cut off - completely flat. There are also lots of off colours and big gaps visible on sides from certain angles - similar to the "big" cruiser of Rebels S2. Easy to mod, but still a downer. I don't even criticize it, most people probably wouldn't care about such details. But for a $200 set I don't want to waste like another 50 for modification parts.
  14. relax.. First of all; not sure if Patronus set won't be 20. And it's subjective if one likes a translucent stag (with no posability at all) or an asian styled wolfe (with limited posability). In any case: both sets are great deals. Compare this to some cheaper Marvel or DC set: villain-army figs always have some face print instead of a helmet/mold whatever; they don't get leg printing by principle, the "heroes" mostly don't either - printing cuts just off from the torso. Plus some crappy build. With the Ninjago set we get the first ever wolfe mold, new shoulder pad for Ninjags, 2 new molds for the Samurai, detailed printing, and a build with interesting pieces, that can either be integrated in bigger sets, or can be modified with your own parts, to be bigger - so what do you want more? 4 generic rebel troopers? Or instead of one highly detailed White Walker Samurai 2 crappy Outriders? Partonus set is also an amazing deal. People here could appreciate both themes, Ninjago sometimes gives us double the detail, new molds and parts - compared to what we get in other themes.
  15. A friend of mine wanted to purchase it and wasn't able to find it in any shop so far. I just have seen it in stores that also sell exclusive sets for some reason.
  16. Gambon Dumbledore basically wore the same bluish outfit in all movies. Including the Yule ball scene. Maybe it's the lightning but I can't see a dark tan hat anywhere. No criticism, I would like the diversity - just curious how they chose this colour
  17. Ok now Im confused: when does Dumbledore ever wear a dark tan hat?! Like glad about the variety, but?! From who is the pink dress body - on which they put Fleur's head? Neither Maxime, Hermoine or anyone else wore this dress in the movie?
  18. I thought so before beause of the tail and extra beard.... At least he doesn't look like Wu at all and even his clothes have a different style. Very curious now! I just hope the new season has the same level of quality without the Hageman brothers behind it... Or at least that they keep in touch with it, so that it doesn't become stupid, like GoT did without G.R.R. Martin
  19. it makes sense. You want to sell retailers future products, but at the same time ensure that the hype for the current waves doesn't fade in shadow of the new one.
  20. Krum's face for some reason looks horrible to me. At least it is pretty rare, only released in an Ideas set so far. I will use the Star Wars Rebels Kanan's old face for Krum. For some reason I think a tanned skin colour would suit him better. These could work for him as well: - https://brickset.com/sets/containing-part-6083253 - https://brickset.com/parts/6100795/mini-head-no-1587 - this may would be perfect, but allmost impossible to get now: https://brickset.com/sets/71014-15/Mario-G%C3%B6tze Cedric's face looks good I think. He didn't look that different from a young Harrison Ford back then. Does anyone know where Fleur's face comes from? btw: don't get your hopes up on the Horntail. I cannot imagine it being a great build with just around 250-300 pieces for the dragon. Keep in mind that Ninjago dragons always have insane part counts, when compared to the price.
  21. I did it for Brienne of Tarth and Witchking. And of course for Vader. For my Vader I used the old plastic-waste cape, a cut off scuba tank for neck (looks great with the new helmet, since it misses some kind of neck) and of course also the 1x1 studs. Ideally it would be perfect to have slightly longer legs for certain figures like these. It just looks ridiculous, having a Vader as tall as any other figure with hair and 1 neck piece. A shoulder piece for his upper armor and neck (similar to the Inquisitor armor's) would also be nice... But unfortunately I doubt Lego will go that far, since they never care much about height-issues. I always wondered how Lego would have gotten around for a Sauron figure. You probably did as good as one can without sculpting or painting. Gun-Metal grey would be much better colour of course.
  22. where do you see the headpieces?! I just see one post in IG with the info "no leg prints, old faces" etc., but no pictures anywhere of the actual pieces? What faceprints do they reuse?
  23. Wow, these are huge spoilers! So Thanos is going to fight Hulk with a giant hammer in front of a Lego police station, while Iron-Man drives a very small car and Nebula a Helicopter with a huge Gatling gun at it's nose. Lego has gone childish all the way with these sets, which is totally ok since this "police station"-style will probably be much more attractive to the market. I assume this downwards trend in quality (again, meaning no offense) will be the future of Marvel sets. I called it: not a single individual (new) suit, other than for Iron-Man. I guess some people will have a hard time to get an exclusive Ronin in some bricktober pack or CC exclusive or whatever. But I'm still waiting for all these rumored polybags
  24. You know it may be an issue that we are so desperate for news about something so insignificant. But the main issue here is that some people are going crazy over their instagram or whatever fame. I hope it makes you "leakers" happy to treat people like this; giving wrong information, teasing us like you are some secret agent dealing with something important. If you have some strange desires, fullfil them somewhere else.
  25. the "next" figure in a magazine issue will be the Iron Baron. So once again, we'll get lots of rare figures cheap just by buying magazines Now I'm just missing Arcade...
