Book II, Challenge V, Category C: Historica United
Exetrius replied to Henjin_Quilones's topic in Guilds of Historica
Okay, I might be a *bit* biased as well... Let's just start off as objectively as possible, then. Your builds are rock-solid, all of them! The Hesperian throne room and the library share a very distinct style, which matches up perfectly with its residents. What immediately catches the attention are the elegant stained glass windows and bright lighting crystals, but there are more unusual things to appreciate here! Great use of the golden blades on the pillars, somehow it gives off Egyptian and Asgardian vibes. NPU with the fenders and chains on the throne, too. I didn't notice them on first glance, but wow: those scroll cabinets! I'm going to say this again: the Eagle (and wall section, too) are mighty majestic!!! You have captured a variety of areas from all across Historica with great success, in your series of messenger vignettes. My favorite would definitely be Gal-Turok's; the tree is intricate and beautiful which also reflects @Blufiji's personal style. Also, it is bizarre to see my build reproduced with 99% accuracy, for the sake of story! It's crazy, and I like it! The whole '4-seasons'-esque battle scene is a view to behold! Once again: superb work, translating the Book II lore and the guilds involved into vivid individual scenes, which look even better when connected together (geographically correct configuration, neat!). I find the Mitgardian one to be the most impressive: the Algus, the pine tree and the hidden cave. Now, the Chamber of the Necromancer: beautiful. Deep beneath the mountains, surrounded by abyssal lava lakes, enclosed by bedrock, obsidian architecture à la @lisqr and @MassEditor. I can't think of a better stage for the darkest hour of the plot, then this one. It also serves as a fantastic backdrop for the Zotharian forces, it enhances their eccentric, powerful appearance, if I may say so myself. The dialogue in this part is especially well-written, seamlessly picking up on the Zotharian lore. I'm stunned that Exetrius has been granted such an important role in this turn of events, I am simply overjoyed, thank you! (I have to rush my reply for a bit, as it is getting late..) Gorgeous work on the throne room of Cedrica: awesome mosaic, fantastic throne and banners, and one sweetheart of a Queen! The Tavern Inn has an impressive level of detail, too, and it's bustling with cheerful, carefree minifig activity. The scenario of the disappearance of the royal family is dealt with in an appropriate, plausible way. To sum everything up, I wholeheartedly support this addition to Historica's lore, you have delivered a truly magnificent entry, Henjin! High praise!- 29 replies

Good point. I guess a lava pool and small waterfall are included, a lot of rock work, mine shaft is indeed likely. The sand green plates lead me to believe the Overworld in this set will be Tundra biome. The pole is still a mystery to me. I could see it being a vine, but that doesn't make sense in a Tundra biome, does it? Btw, @DungeonsAndFlagons, that is a sweet profile picture you've got there!

Baby villager, perhaps? That would be so cute! I think it is probably a brick and the play of the light, though.

Can't make out any more parts of particular interest than the ones you listed (except the 'Big Slime' windscreen, shown in the previous tease). I assume the trans light blue mob head would be for the Charged Creeper? The sign is cool. Here's the (large!) image, btw:

While searching for bits of news on YT, I found this thumbnail. The background looks similar to the very first picture that showed us the ninja with their representative voice actors. Has anyone seen the unedited image? Also, the video with this thumbnail shows some artwork, which is discussed as variants of the upcoming season (don't think so!). Anyone know who's work it is? See below: -

The Future of Lego Space. (opinions, ideas, discussion)
Exetrius replied to Trekkie99's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
In reaction to various opinions and statements in this thread: I think a ~3000 piece set would be all the more in competition with the Star Wars theme, because that is the price range of the UCS models. The changing of the era, sci-fi disappearing from mainstream media, real-life (aerospace) science not advancing towards the envisioned utopia; all very valid reasons why a continuing space line may have been considered not viable. Of all themes within City, I think police and firearms are the most boring, by far. The other services, on the other hand, really inspired me as a kid (about 10 years ago). Shops, restaurants, garages, sports, harbor, etc. In other words: everyday stuff was awesome. Star Wars has a few iconic, good-looking designs, but indeed there are loads of vehicles that just didn't attract me at all. I liked the generic troops, and some lightsaber guys were also cool, but nothing extraordinary. Mars Mission, the first space theme of my childhood, got me hooked immediately, despite not being familiar with sci-fi through media, at that time. The consistency of all the vehicles and the astronauts throughout the sets was very appealing, something that Star Wars didn't (and does not) have. From my own experiences, I think a fresh 'classic' Space theme could work out, given an exploration/civilian approach. As a kid, I didn't necessarily need any kind of special characters or 'weird' conflict-based vehicles. Generic civilians and services, which represent the gearing of the system of society, were enough to inspire me. These are barely present in the SW theme, so there wouldn't be competition between this new classic space theme and SW. Moreover, games like No man's sky, Horizon Zero Dawn, and movies like The Martian and Interstellar are proof of the renewed interest in space and exoplanet exploration. Instead of a City mobile police office, the new generation of fathers may be more inclined to buy a cool exoplanet exploration vehicle.- 991 replies

Found the high resolution official images: I think this is our first good look at the back torso printing for most of these, as well as a clear look at the front of Cole's torso. No Nya though? -
I got Titanium Zane through B&P, but Deepstone Zane was never listed while all the other ninja were.

Hey guys, you might want to check Bricks & Pieces. They have pretty much all the thunder rock villian parts available! -
In terms of hairpieces, I think you got everything that is new and currently available. If I encounter more, I'll let you know!

It looks like we were on the same track, as I've also did a big haul across all themes and much of the hairpieces above made it to my order as well. Too bad I didn't see the long hair (3rd row, 1st column). I recall the former price of black Anna's hair was crazy high, like 11 euros or something, glad that has been adjusted! Also, I will be adding two new white hairpieces to my collection! I also found a beard that is (has been?) available now: https://brickset.com/parts/6164295

I hauled minifig parts (mostly) just a few minutes ago! There's a lot of pieces that have become available, where included in sets from the beginning of this year. I found parts from Nexo Knights, Elves, Assembly Square and Disney Castle, Minecraft, Ninjago, Ideas, and TLBM. That is also more or less the order of new parts now available from largest number of pieces to lowest. I don't think I got any. Well, sort of. At the beginning of this year, I didn't buy Nexo knights, Elves and Ninjago sets, because I knew that probably quite a number of the specific (minifig accessory) parts would become available through B&P after a few months*. If you can keep your patience for a few months, you don't need to spend money on entire sets with only that one specific part that you want. *This doesn't seem to apply to themes with fleshie minifigs; whatever specific parts become available is pretty random.

LEGO Ninjago 2017 Discussion
Exetrius replied to Peppermint_M's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
In addition to that, "Temple of the Ultimate" suggest that there should exist something like the First Spinjitsu Master, an ancient force with elemental powers, being worshipped there. "Master Falls" sounds like the cliché waterfall pool with rock boulders where the master, and eventually the trainee, gains inner piece (notice what I did there ). I hope some more pics are coming soon... -
This is the plot of the Ninjago tv show... What are you trying to say?

@BrickJagger That picture is the icing on the cake! Me too, regional exclusivity is a pain, especially when it concerns exclusive variants. That said, I actually don't like the design of the pod itself. The two shells could have had a real LEGO clip-bar connection and (anti)studs on bottom and top. It's not like we haven't seen this in the past. Now it's just a chunk of plastic, which looks fine, but MOC versatility awfully close to zero...
