2017 Speed Champions Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Exetrius replied to BrickJagger's topic in LEGO Town
That's not how reviewing works... For a review, you need in-hand experience. I can't write a review of, let's continue the analogy here, the real Bugatti Chiron, simply because I have seen it in action and have some pictures of it. The feel, the experience, that's what a review is about! -
REVIEW: 71018 LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 17
Exetrius replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
A big thank you for your review, WhiteFang, once again! I always enjoy seeing how the new characters match up to their counterparts, as well as when you swap parts between them. It gets the gears of creativity turning on how to use the new pieces yourself. -
Latest CMF series impact on Historic themes
Exetrius replied to SirBlake's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
If all the individual parts are good, then I don't see a problem. Just make combos that do work out for you. In fact, this very thread implies that the CMF parts will be put to use in Historic/Fantasy minifigs (not necessarily in their original configuration). -

Latest impact of other themes on historic themes
Exetrius replied to Wardancer's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Pretty sure the rhino is actually a boar (with mohawk!) too. Maybe he's the Boar Clan's dragon slayer? Now that we're talking animals, I really appreciate this detail: -

I've taken a look at the current range of sets, but well... I guess 70323: Jestro's Volcano Lair is currently the closest set resembling an ordinary (Fantasy Era) Castle set, but directly from LEGO is more expensive than pretty much any other store at this moment. I personally think there is an appeal in 41180: Ragana's Magic Shadow Castle, from a Castle perspective. 71040: Disney Castle is an option, but A: it's really expensive, and B: you may not want to take it apart for the parts (same goes for other modulars). For pieces (alone) I could further think of 76060: Doctor Strange's Sanctum Sanctorum, 70594: The Lighthouse Siege and 76057: Spider-Man: Web Warriors Ultimate Bridge Battle. Of course, if you want to get yourself a nonomissible piece of Castle history, The Fortrex is the way to go!

It's nice that Buttercup comes in the funpack, because I like her the best. You know what would be fun? If we didn't get Blossom and Bubbles... Thanks for sharing, some interesting minibuilds there. I believe it was also mentioned that no licences of year 1 and 2 would be revisited. Somewhere. Ages ago.

Book II - Nocturnus: Guild sign-up and Discussion
Exetrius replied to ZCerberus's topic in Guilds of Historica
The Darklands are so much too dangerous, too depressing and too scary. Therefore, Exetrius will be going to this happy, green, friendly place called Avalonia, where he can joyfully devote himself to the wonderful world of flower magic! Bye, Nocturnus! -
Collectible Historic/Fantasy Minifigure Series
Exetrius replied to ElectroDiva's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
A historic/medieval/fantasy themed CMF series would be great! I tried to come up with some new ones, although some are previously mentioned: Gold smith Ronin Tribal shaman (female, animalistic) Cloth seller Oriental princess Travelling merchant Cartographer Japanese courtier Jungle fighter (with animal sidekick) Bard (female) Dark elf Nordic giant Summoner (with fantasy sidekick) Mountain ogre Aetherial guardian beast Draconian (dragon-human hybrid) -

LEGO Nexo Knights 2017 Discussion
Exetrius replied to Peppermint_M's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I almost got hyped over the fact that the Knighton castle doors are in brown.. think that says enough about how far we are from regular Castle... Anyway, I'm interested to see how Aaron's giant crossbow folds together, can be another plus for that set. -
Book II Challenge V [Cat. B]: Arcane Regulation Core

Maybe will Nocturnus have problems if he does put it together properly... Who knows? Thanks a lot, Grover! -
There is no competitive exclusion among the projects of one review stage; multiple projects could pass at once, but on the other hand it is possible that none pass of the batch.

LEGO Ninjago 2017 Discussion
Exetrius replied to Peppermint_M's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
No set name or price at this point, eh? They're keeping everything really tight under the wraps... @just2good Also, thanks for mentioning me in your Juniors list video! Journal of Exetrius Day 47 - It has been weeks since the wind of Hype slackened, left us to our own devices in this barren, static sea. A glorious Ninjago treasure island lies on the horizon, yet is painfully beyond our reach. We have run out of fresh Vermillion supplies, some crew members are taking their resort in rumours of what lies ahead, others have dug up old topics to ward off the boredom on the Discussion 2017 ship. Oh, benevolent wind of Hype, have mercy on us! Allow us to continue on our path! -

Yeah, didn't know when it came available and if it had ever gone out of stock before. Take it as a friendly reminder that it is still available, then. -

I'll add that to the vocabulary. Thanks, SK! Thanks! That lighting was indeed intention, I'm often trying to find that one angle that reflects the light towards the camera. -
If this thread could stop arguing about gender distribution in LEGO sets, and which Office show is more hilarious... Anyway, I am really glad the Dungeon Master project received such a massive support. I also had started designing a project based upon the same idea: adventurous setting, non-human enemy minions and a bunch of extravagant heroes with a classified set of abilities, weapons and armour. Honestly, I'm surprised that it took so long for a project like this to emerge and reach 10K supporters, considering the huge gamer communities of World of Warcraft, League of Legends, Runescape (in former days), Skyrim, and the list goes on. I'm hoping for a set that contains a mysterious and ancient structure, guarded by savage monsters, a brave team of adventurers (Tank, Ranger, Mage, Healer) featuring unique decorations, artifactitious gear and other things that are commonplace in RPG games (Health potions, Spell books, Runes). Oh... how I'd love that!

Book II - Nocturnus: Guild sign-up and Discussion
Exetrius replied to ZCerberus's topic in Guilds of Historica
Same story here, more or less. There's my studies, the planning of my summer holiday and also increasing temptation to explore other LEGO genres. I have a many GoH build ideas for my personal saga, but so far I have postponed them due to said other activities, the scarcity of parts or the lack of motivation to start. Maybe I will start building spontaneously in a week or two. -
LEGO designer Robert Heim gives insight in the train of thought for the Ice Spikes set, in this article on minecraft.net. Most of it is written in dummy and review-with-interest language though, so here's the most relevant bit for us FOLs:
