  1. Hey, thank you! It's a big compliment to that someone who's not looking through nostalgia-coloured glasses sees beauty in this build! I'm glad the pelvises caught your attention, especially the one with the boomerang, I really liked how that one turned out too. :) Fun thing about the red Toa's swords is: those were my least favorite weapons of the bunch, until I added axe part to them. That made all the difference!
  2. They're from an.. erm, excuse the word- old CMF figure https://brickset.com/sets/8805-12/Evil-Dwarf. The years fly by, don't they?
  3. Thank you! Nice that you mention the windows! The fun thing about them is that they are even number width while tower itself has odd number dimensions, and they're mounted with clips, nipple studs and 1x2 modified plates with bar sticking up. (Somehow that is quite satisfying to me) And glad to hear about the roof too!
  4. I hope that in the new wave the ninja are actually the ones with the Stone Age gear. And then Nya can have a Samurai Rex! (Yes, I know that's wildly inaccurate on the prehistorical timeline)
  5. Thanks for your elaborate comment! Yeah Merodaquinas shows that you don't have to be bizarre in Nocturnus! I really wanted to build here because of the canals, but I thought I might as well add a good splash of yellow, which I probably wouldn't use in most other Nocty settlements. Glad you like it! Thanks, Dan!
  6. I saw exclusive hairs from the Monkie Kid Heavenly Realms set have had their priced adjusted from 7-ish euros a piece to only 3,90. Very reasonable. (now I am tempted though, so good job LEGO salesperson)
  7. Good to see ample recolours and new designs! I'm looking forward to Paisley’s hairpiece, one of the only hairpieces ever to cover up a substantial part of the face.
  8. Updated the status of Abyssian from ***Capital*** to *Former Capital*, after its destruction in the Civil War, and updated the description.
  9. Thanks guys, glad you like it!
  10. Yeah, that one is hairpieces galore! I really like seeing that they put a lot of extra thought into selecting those. I hope they will eventually show up on PAB, or end up in cheaper sets!
  11. You're welcome!
  12. It is said that war knows no winners, only losers. That everyone loses something, but some lose more than others. But there are fruits that grow from a bloodstained soil, though rotten and bitter they may be. Merodaquinas was a town that lost less in the war than most of Nocturnian towns and cities. Before the war, the affairs of the interior of Nocturnus would rarely affect the town much, being located far away and on the outside of the Rakath mountain range. It didn't have particularly strong connections with the outside world, though it served as a resting stop for people traversing the mountains or the nearby Kelra Labyrinth. To Ravaage, conquering Merodaquinas would have had little strategic benefits. So instead, he sent a raiding unit to pillage whatever there was to be pillaged, and maybe turn some of the wretched souls in the town to his side. And burn the rest. And so Merodaquinas was shaken up by a raid and fires. The local lord's troops couldn't stop the raiders from pillaging parts of the south and east of the city. However, unexpected help arrived! A witch from the nearby witch village, which had not always been on the best of terms with Merodaquinas and its lord, had seen the skeletons approach. Soon, and without much hesitation, the whole witch village rushed to town. With the aid of the witches, the pillaging and plunder ended and the town was purged of Ravaage's raiders. The leader of the raid and a few scummy turncoats managed to escape, but the town was spared a much worse fate. It is said that war knows no winners, only losers. However, the fruits of the terrible Civil War tasted rather sweet for Merodaquinas: it had rekindled the relationship with the witches, united the town, and partly purged the shady individuals and their businesses from it. In a later stage of the war, unseen numbers of Mitguardians and Avalonians passed through on their way to reinforce the Resistance armies in the Rakath. These days, the sun seems to shine just a bit brighter in Merodaquinas than it did before! --- Here's another build that I should have posted a long time ago! Initial plan was a raid scene with bloodshed and burning houses, but when I built regular houses instead everything started looking more quaint and peaceful than I had foreseen. So to not ruin the vibe (and avoiding the extra work) I posted the peaceful build "Merodaquinas - Trout's Crossing" in 2020. However, the idea of a raid scene was still kicking around and I wasn't completely happy with the photos, so I set out to finish what I started. I finally created a scene and took some additional pictures! Not only for this build. I hope you like them! More pictures:
  13. Thank you! Right? I can’t think of one either! I think that is because CCBS Bionicles are quite large, meaning that the scenery around them would become large as well. I have seen some CCBS terrain though, but no background. Thanks, David! Thanks, cheers mate! (btw, despite being a Ninjago fan I never had the courage to watch the movie 😆🙈)
  14. Thank you! Yeah, happy to have them
  15. @Ecclesiastes Alright, thanks!
  16. Thanks a lot! Thank you! Nice to hear about the trees, as I had them built more abstract (and colourful) at first, but then changed them to look more natural. Thanks, VBBN!
  17. Oooh, here it is!! I'm liking the Old but Gold category in particular. And what a prize pool! Three questions to further flesh out the rules: Do entries have to be completely new, or can you finish WIPs that you started before August 1? Can you post multiple entries for the same category? Are digital entries allowed?
  18. Thanks mrcp6d! I can see what you mean with the exposed studs. Some sections do bother me a bit too, but I still stand by my decision for the very rough rock look. 70% coverage would be too much, imo. If I had made this build today, I may have tried spamming it with dark grey quarter circle tiles, since I now have quite a number from the PAB wall. Thanks for your suggestion though!
  19. Thanks! I think the variety of greens is necessary though as they have different functions. Lime for the water, spring yellowish green for water vegetation, sand green for architectural highlights. Dark green is used for moss and growth on stone, but I think olive was needed to separate foreground from background. That said, I like greens. Thank you man!
  20. Hi!I don't know if this build is enough 'action figure' for this forum, but at least I have seven brick-built Toa to show here, and their weapons. I hope you can appreciate the scenery as bonus! Back in August I created an entry for the "90th Anniversary: Bionicle Theme Celebrations" contest on Ideas. My build is a tribute to the theme that loved for years: Bionicle. I grew up with Bionicle "Mask of Light: The Movie", and it's still one of the very few films I rewatch sometimes. The world of Mata Nui, the Toa and the Matoran, the different environments and strange architecture, and the soundtrack too, still resonate with me. With this build I wanted to capture the essence of each Toa and display them in their natural environment. The Toa Nuva, being my favourites, formed the basis of my designs, but you'll see hints of Toa Mata and Metru. I gave each Toa a unique build, but with some features shared between them. The most challenging part were their masks, because of the limited space and because I really wanted those to represent Toa. I feel like if I'd build these masks in alternative colours, it would still be possible to tell which design belongs to who. The weapons were also fun to make. I also varied their heights: Pohatu is one of the shortest, while Kopaka and Onua are significantly taller. As you can see, I used Mixel ball joints, technic pins, hinge plates and bar-clip connections to give these guys a nice range of motion. Unfortunately, no wrist articulation and the feet can't turn side to side. Some of the masks are a bit fragile, and all Toa are prone to fall over because they are top heavy and have relatively small feet. So on the whole, playing with them is certainly possible, but in the end a little frustrating. In the model, I attached the Toa with studs under their feet, and in the case of Takanuva with stud with shaft pieces to the side of his feet sticking into the ground. Makes life easier when moving the build around. Look closer into the background and you may notice a carving of the Great Spirit Robot! Thanks for reading! C&C appreciated!
  21. Thank you! Haha, yeah 'funky angles' is now a term that I hope to use more often Thanks, I really appreciate your feedback! I can see where you're coming from. I reckon it's not 'incredibly pretty', it's more about presenting an interesting location in a way that feels real somehow. But of course, I have it in 3d to experience, while you rely on photos. The higher angle was meant to show a bit of what is at the back, but is not very effective. I should have done a side view, but I didn't. Also yes, LEGO Masters.. So much fun! Speaking of Trout's Crossing, I'll have to write a post about it too. But I'll happily take your compliment in advance! Thanks Dan, glad you like the walls and story too! 'Unique' is definitely what I went for, while retaining the features that -Sunder- put into his walls. Thank you!
  22. Rockwail, Nocturnus Rockwail is an ancient fortified city in the Boulder Bogs, at the heart of the Moruth Swamplands. According to tales of old, the entire fortress was carved out by dwarves from one giant boulder. Being surrounded by a hazardous swamp, shrouded in fog, and protected by thick walls, Rockwail is a very secure place. 23. @Louis of Nutwood Good that you bring this up. Maybe a mini-challenge to kick things up. 🤔 In my case I've been building for GoH mostly in the weekends I was at home this year, but it's a large project and I've spent more time away from home than in previous years. And sometimes I feel the need to build in other genres too. 🤷‍♂️
